I have an Epi Les Paul with a factory Bigsby. Just a cautionary note for those considering this guitar configuration. The Les Paul is a relatively short body and when strung as intended the Bigsby causes the break angle of the strings to the bridge to be very steep. This may (likely will) cause the strings (especially the high E) to contact the sharp edge of the bridge block before it gets to the saddle. This is a problem! There are several possible options to solve this ... mill a 45° chamfer on the back edge of the bridge block, shim the Bigsby up higher, install a BricksBiggsFix tuning stabilizer, install a roller bridge. I chose to go with a roller bridge but there are questions regarding impact on tone doing this.
Yes my thoughts too 🤔, but I thought maybe BEN had not checked the Tone nobs and one of the tone nobs was like half or fully turned off? Ben if you read this ? Is it possible that one of the tone nobs might have been like that or did you check them ?? Just Sounded muddy to me I guess the neck pickup ?? Sounded muffled or muddy??
Bigsby's look really cool, if I had one I probably would never use it. I prefer solid, a "less is better" config. Two posts and a reach around bridge straight to the nut 😉, just say'in. Nice guitar though. Thanks Ben. 👍
That's really surprising. Bigsby is owned by Fender, that's why you haven't seen it much on anything else but Gretsches. (stock) Especially not Gibson owned brands. Btw. one thing that might also be interesting on these videos is, if they have modern or 50s wiring. You can easily test this with reducing the volume of one PU to 0 in the middle position and it should mute the guitar even if the other volume is up. In the modern wiring style, this won't happen. This is interesting information for those of us that fiddle with the volume controls a lot to dial in the tone. :) Cheers, Martin
😮 Oh man, that's a nice Epiphone 👌 nice demo Ben!
Cheers!!
@BenCoombs why didn't you tune it? lol joke 😂 And my favorite and dream Bigsby guitar would be a Gretsch G6134T-58 Penguin.

Pretty sweet LP Ben! Are the pickups Alnico Classics? Sounds like it. Thanks for the demo!
I think you're right on the pickups. Quite low output. Cheers!!

Tone knobs are always turned all the way up in my demos unless you hear me so I'm lowering it. Neck pickups always sound darker.
