Would be a nice touch if they went the extra yard with the headstock and lost the Epiphone three screw truss rod cover for the Gibson two screw style. They got so close, why not?
They could've just used 57 classic pickups and knocked the price down to the $700-$900 range depending on how much they wanted to overcharge for a different headstock shape. Why would you drop $500 pickups in an Epiphone?
I just bought a used 2012 GIBSON Les Paul traditional for Les than this thing. Has 57 classics, a real flame top thats super rad and I’m sure it smokes this thing playability. Epiphone is weird lol
The Base model LP standard is $699, the previous IbG '59 is $999. There's no way they could have gotten it that cheap, even with '57 classics... edit: That being said, they could have possibly kept the burstbuckers and updated the headstock and sold it for $999-1099.
I bought a 59 last year: thanks Gibson, you figured out a way to piss me off again. But it's a slimmer neck, I like a baseball neck. I'll just keep the older 59.
its only the headstock that you cant get, you could change the pickups in yours. Personally I dont see the point in the headstock change. For me at least it wont scratch that Gibson itch, an Epiphone is and Epiphone. I love mine but just changing the headstock shape wont change that. Id rather save the extra money and get a Gibson
The Epiphone Standard for $599 seems such a better value if you gotta take poly finish and a laurel board. At 1299 I’d save a bit more for a used Gibson or buy a lovely Studio.
The Standard is $699, they raised those prices too, but I agree with you. The 50's Standard has a long neck tenon, 50's wiring, and the same capacitors and CTS pots as the 59 outfit and a gloss finish which IMO looks a lot better. The Probuckers sound fine. People need to learn how to dial in a sound and stop buying into the pickup BS.
Nice guitar for the $. They should sell a ton at that price, and Im betting guys and gals will buy these and not Chibsons. The headstock will sell them.
For all you Karens in the comments. I have a Wildwood LP with the Wildwood pickups, and I also have this Epi in the iced tea finish. I enjoy the $1,200 Epi more than I enjoy the $3,500 Wildwood. Yall are just mad because the Epi is out of your price range
I own the tobacco burst its one heck of a wood piece. The sustain , its insane. Only thing im not a fan of is the finish. But i intend to polish it. I bought it because i knew i could do this. Easy fix
i was so excited for this one. finally had a chance to try it and the fingerboard material was terrible. maybe it was just a bad one but if i’m spending over $1000 on a guitar i don’t want that. i know you can’t oil it or whatever but come on.
The studio that they’re charging people now for two grand they should be charging 1599 . And they should have maybe like Les Paul specials juniors at 12:99 and maybe like a tribute at 10:99 I think they would sell a lot more guitars.
And a one piece neck and most of all, No veneer on the back of the body. A feature darn near every "evaluator" misses. The 2024 1959 appears to have a real 2 piece body, not 3, 4 or 5 pieces like the 2020-2023 version that's body is hidden by a veneer.
@@markwilliamsmusic2987mine too! For all the complaints about the price, the Epiphone Greeny is a fantastic guitar. I didn’t like my Les Paul tribute at all and quickly traded it

The only real difference here the headstock shape and the pickup choice.... And of course a massive jump in price... This makes the previous model an incredible bargain... Many big name reviewers put the previous model right up there with the Gibson during blindfold tests... I am not knocking the new version but is it really worth the price difference.? .. The massive price hike will do wonders for the value hold of the previous model.
I was stupid enough to buy the first iteration of this guitar with the Kalamazoo headstock new and the value tanked by approx 30% within a year! I'm not doing that again, I'm going to wait a year for this guitar to come on the used market!
I really need to get over the "Epiphone is a cheap Gibson" mindset. There guitars are very good. I am sure I would get some ribbing if I took it out to gig. But whatever. I think I have to get one of these.

Would be a nice touch if they went the extra yard with the headstock and lost the Epiphone three screw truss rod cover for the Gibson two screw style. They got so close, why not?
Why not? They already threw the Epiphione brand under the bus by removing the iconic and distinctive headstock.
Also rosewood fretboard.
@@Kdschaakno they didnt. The open book is only for the inspired by gibson line
I would take rosewood over a 2 screw cover
Next year LOL
i can make a Murphy lab sound like a Harley Benton
Why it's still matte and without binding? Why they sell us a tribute or studio with a crazy price?
They could've just used 57 classic pickups and knocked the price down to the $700-$900 range depending on how much they wanted to overcharge for a different headstock shape. Why would you drop $500 pickups in an Epiphone?
Because you want a guitar that sounds great. It’s not rocket science.
Buy this one
They already got ya money
its only the headstock that you cant get, you could change the pickups in yours. Personally I dont see the point in the headstock change. For me at least it wont scratch that Gibson itch, an Epiphone is and Epiphone. I love mine but just changing the headstock shape wont change that. Id rather save the extra money and get a Gibson
@@Benjohns89 I like my headstock and the Burstbuckers, they can keep there newfangled guitar.
I'll never buy a Gibson again.
Eastman LP style guitars still have a nice thick neck.
Easy fix
Nice presentation 👏
Looking forward to seeing used ones on Reverb. Always happens.
i was so excited for this one. finally had a chance to try it and the fingerboard material was terrible. maybe it was just a bad one but if i’m spending over $1000 on a guitar i don’t want that. i know you can’t oil it or whatever but come on.
Thajt Thangy WooD-looky-gewd with'm White EMG's on it baby. Cheers. I didn't know it had custom buxnoirs... Either way. Hi Yaw!!!!!
how does everyone feel about the new $1299 open book headstock epiphone les paul? I wanna get the tobacco burst i think :D
Very nice 1959 Les Paul does it have a one piece neck?👍🏼
No
@@tideslider664 The new 2024 59 Inspired By Gibson has a one piece neck.
The studio that they’re charging people now for two grand they should be charging 1599 . And they should have maybe like Les Paul specials juniors at 12:99 and maybe like a tribute at 10:99 I think they would sell a lot more guitars.
They're not having a problem selling guitars .
No braided wire, no medalion, Burstbuckers are hotter and the older ones were cheaper. Essentially you're paying more for a headstock.
And a one piece neck and most of all, No veneer on the back of the body. A feature darn near every "evaluator" misses. The 2024 1959 appears to have a real 2 piece body, not 3, 4 or 5 pieces like the 2020-2023 version that's body is hidden by a veneer.
What kind of mahogany is it? (E.g. Honduran, Asian, etc.?)
The arrow should point at the bridge (which is not in the correct position, just so it doesn't exactly sound like a real LP).
$1200 is the new $500, sheesh. Now, if the Custom would come with Custombuckers.... So it's either this or the 335
Are the pickups potted?
No, custom buckers are not wax potted
Gives me a strong Jimmy Page vibe. Nice.
This Epi or a used Gibson Tribute - that is the question for me.
If it can help my Greeny blows my Tribute away !
@@markwilliamsmusic2987mine too! For all the complaints about the price, the Epiphone Greeny is a fantastic guitar. I didn’t like my Les Paul tribute at all and quickly traded it
Caesar and the boys are tired of us mail ordering Tokais and Edwards copies from Japan for $1200
Where are these made? Japan?…
los angelos custom shop lmaoooooo
These are very nice ,I have one an just as nice as a gibson ,WELL BUILT, I CHOSE IT OVER A GIBSON,, BETTER CRAFTMAN SHIIP, GREAT GUITAR ,A GIBSON LES PAUL SHOULD BE THIS PRICE,, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND SURPORT,,THESE ARE NICE,,HAVE A BLESSED DAY FROM TEX.WESS KEEP THE BLUES ALIVE,
I'd buy that for a dollar 💵
me too....I played it it was just ok
I got it for 400$ I’m stoked I would not pay over 1000$ for it
I’d get a studio les Paul before I’d do that
The only real difference here the headstock shape and the pickup choice....
Nice guitar I had one sold it for a DGT SE
These have only been out for a few days wdym you already sold one 💀
@@rbaehe probably means the last version they did
@@jmdyt3626 there was no last version with Gibson pickups, AAA top, and open book headstock with VOS specs though they're almost completely different
@@rbaethe last one was great but this one is perfect
I bought the IBG Epiphone 59 les paul in 2021 still have it. polished off that VOS. looks 100% Better. The new one is nice but way over priced.
I would also polish the front
Made a difference
I don't understand why they wouldn't give this a rosewood board. I'd already have it ordered if they did.
I was stupid enough to buy the first iteration of this guitar with the Kalamazoo headstock new and the value tanked by approx 30% within a year! I'm not doing that again, I'm going to wait a year for this guitar to come on the used market!
Unfortunately it’s more expensive on the used market lol
If it had gloss swinish it would be perfect. It’s basically a Gibson tribute.
For $1,300, just eat ramen for one more month and get a proper Gibson LP. You're so close.
For that kinda money, you’d think they would wire the thing up a lot better and neater than they do
I really need to get over the "Epiphone is a cheap Gibson" mindset. There guitars are very good. I am sure I would get some ribbing if I took it out to gig. But whatever. I think I have to get one of these.
Good video guys
I pay 770€ for the 59 outfit, sorry but double price just for custombucker and Gibson head no thanks!
