- Today we take a look at Saica Paper UK Ltd, 144 Manchester Rd, Carrington, Partington, Manchester M31 4QN.
We see a few emergency vehicles zooming past and speak to a couple of viewers and then security come and give us the bad news that we are not allowed to fly the drone ON their land.

My neighbouring business keeps allowing the clouds from over his business to wander over into my air space. I'm going to sue him for the rain they dropped, and if he doesn't pay up, I'm thinking of calling the police or the ant-terrorist squad for this audacious attack on my 'private sky'.
I hate that, keep your clouds and rain on your own land. Anything that is over my house gets the air rifle treatment. Birds, helicopters, hang gliders, and especially clouds. I fucking hate Nimbostratus the Precipitation-bearing sheet.
Don’t even get me started on what the Saharan dessert is doing to my windows! It’s like sandblasting.
And if you keep pigeons make sure they don't fly over my land. Not allowed.
The other morning I heard the sound of someone hammering invading my garden. I was outraged. Definitely calling 999 next time.

@DJAUDITS I used to drive trucks into here between 2014 and 2018 for Bibby Distribution who were the transport contractors at that time, and I did a few shunter shifts covering holidays and sickness as I was also an approved relief shunter at my home depot as a Bibby HGV driver in the Wigan depot of Saica Pack on the A49, So I think I can help explain a few things.
That centre gate at the main entrance is a shunter entrance or contractors when the weigh bridge is not needed or broken. The far shed you zoomed in on with the rolls of paper is the trailer loading area where the finished rolls are loaded and they are then strapped down by the drivers. Each roll is circa 3.5 tonnes (3'500kg or 7'700 lbs).
The hot area (steam) mentioned is the processing line where the waste paper is washed, and mulched into a paper-mache like pulp.
The waste paper in the holding yard is unloaded from the truck trailer by clamp lift trucks and stacked according to grade of waste and paper type, it is then loaded at the yard end of the factory into hoppers which strip and shred the bales into tiny pieces inside the factory and this is then put through a variety of chemical baths and cleaning treatments it is then boiled and then mixed and mashed it is then spread into a n even layer on a conveyor and pressed through rollers to remove water etc and bind the fibres together, this paper is dried on hot rollers as it moves along the line and it is then rolled into specified lengths and wrapped where it then goes to a further plant in wigan, preston or coleshill to be made into cardboard where they have special corrugator machines to corrugate the rolled paper and glue the sheets of paper making a cardboard sheet to be made into a box and printed ready to ship to Kellogg's etc.

You mention Kelloggs. Can you tell me why they only fill their cereal boxes by 60%. If they filled them to 90% they would only need 2 boxes instead of 3, save themselves and their shareholders a small fortune by using much less cardboard, and save me having to buy 50% more boxes every year. Makes no sense.

Sadly in my experience mitie staff are the worst trained and informed when it comes to interacting with the public 😪
The best part of the video is always the approach by either the Police or Security staff who appear to be poorly trained, coupled with an inflated view of their own importance.
It is difficult to have confidence or respect in bodies that struggle to understand the basics be that English as a language, or the law that states that you do not own the air above your head, nor indeed the land below your feet (mineral rights).
Keep up the good work DJ Audit, your country needs people like you to expose the petty non entities who try to rule our every hour, making up laws, redefining those that may exist to fit their agenda and worse of all trying to make out that you are doing something wrong.
I could ask about when will people wake up to the fact that you tend not make videos showing you breaking the law, but I suspect the people you come into contact with (including the MD who tried to break you controller) can’t read!

Spanish owned Saica Paper constructed the mill 2008-2012 with AJ Clack/CHC contractors. Highways and Environmental Serices occupied Bridgewater House along Manchester Road (different from the Ship Canal headquarters also named Bridgewater House in Manchester).
The Cheshire Line Railway (1873-1964) operated to the south and viaduct over the canal. Extensive rail siding serviced the Ship Canal and Partington Coal Basin Wharfs. South end of Saica Paper to the former railway were ship canal sidings and Partington Wharfs along the canal. Most of the mill site was agricultural up to the late 1960s. Peaksnook Farm was located at the north end and current Carrington Backup Power Station. Landfield Farm located across Manchester Road near the south entrance.
In the late 1960s, the agricultural land was developed as an oil depot and terminal. Part of Landfield was a National Grid LNG storage facility decommissioned c.2012. Greater Manchester Council occupied a depot along Manchester Road. When redeveloped by Saica Paper, Sapphire Energy Recovery occupied the south gate area of the site and oil depot tanks demolished by 2009. To the east as seen on google aerial, the industrial area and street grid was the Shell Chemical Works and others.
From the drone:
3.55 Bridgewater House, former Highways depot.
4.00 left former Shell Chemical Works, along trees in distance former National Grid LNG gasometers; between pylons Landfield Farm, Cheshire Line Railway ran through the trees to the canal viaduct.
4.25 housing estates in Partington was overflow housing from WW2.
4.32 warehouse, car park and trees behind were the Ship Canal Sidings, warehouse and car park area later Sapphire Energy Recovery.
4.35-5.10 mill site and paper storage was the petrol storage depot late 1960s-2008 and agricultural prior.
5.12 Carrington Backup Power Station and the storage yard were part of Peaksnook Farm.

I went to a paper recycling mill well over 20 years ago on an organised visit.
They recycled waste paper to make huge rolls of paper weighing well over 2 tonnes, maybe 4, 5.
They told us they cost £4000 per roll.
I asked, how much do the people that give the paper to recycling get?
Silence.
In India, China, most Asian countries, many African and South American countries, the donor of waste paper are given a token sum for the donated paper.
But we live in a country where people are conned into making money for the wealthy for no return.
How do you know they’re wealthy?
They might be poor.
And the council make us pay £40 pa for the privilege of making them money

I remember one security guy from the videos saying it was brought up in their SIA training but that could have been down to the person taking the course rather than being an actual part of the course.

DJ! There is a site in Newhaven East Sussex called Conway...on an industrial estate...they make bitumen for roads...quite interesting..however there is contention!! It's very near the town and people are upset...with the smoke coming from the site...lots of nasty gases spreading over the town...am thinking you might get an interesting reaction from High Viz bods if you do the drone caper...not to mention the favour you'll be doing for the people of Newhaven...a Heads up!
