I agree. I don’t want my family to feel like I’m isolating myself from my family by going in my office and playing on my PC. The Steam Deck allows me to be in the same room as my family and do something entertaining for myself if my kids want to watch cocomelon or some kids movie I’ve seen a million times. I’ve noticed that when I play games in my office, even if everyone including my wife is sucked into a screen already. 15-30 minutes don’t go by before my wife comes and asks me what I’m doing and basically stands there until I get off and do a walk of shame. With the Steam Deck I can play for an hour or so in front of my wife without her making a peep since we have those times of day where everyone is happy doing their own thing.
