Hi Heather and Winston😁, Those look very good. I like sardines on a little bit of a spicy side. I would say the combination of those spices would make it extra good. Peppercorns I would think would make it very good. What type of pepper was in those sardines? Cloves are a good spice to season with. All you have shown look like they are good….It’s cold here in Eastern Kentucky. Sardines like that would be good to warm you up …..Enjoy your videos very much…..

My favorite Nuri is the Spiced in Olive Oil. I just tried King Oscar Salmon Mediterranean Style, and it's quite similar to King Oscar Mackerel Mediterranean style
Yes summers here are dreamy. Vermont has perfect levels of PH in the soils at around 7. So it much more lush then NH and especially ME which is the most acidic. That why they have so many pine trees. I’ve lived in all three, plus NY. I do love the Adirondacks as well. The Finger Lakes are my favorite area in up state. Back to VT. Our Capital Montpelier is sweet, no graffiti, almost no crime.Lots of people of the arts and letters. Very Liberal. It’s tiny. Burlington is on Lake Champlain with 3 universities so it definitely a college town and only 1.5 hrs from Montreal which I love. Best French Fries in North America, plus better Jewish deli food than NYC. Upper North East Kingdom is full of left over hippies from the 60’s and 70’s. We never lock our doors and leave our car keys in our cars. We have around 50 hummingbirds that return each summer. Miles of rivers and streams all around us. Great skiing and boarding abound. The summer stuff not even be better. It’s definitely a more spiritual place.
Hi - Based on your review of the Nuri Spicy sardines, I ordered 5 cans. My wife and I really like them although I think they're a little light concerning spiciness. Earlier today I picked up 2 cans of King Oscars packed in EVOO with "Hot Jalapeno Peppers". When I opened the can, I was surprised by how many slices of jalapeno were in there - it was 8. And the sardines were definitely well spiced with heat and flavor. Maybe you could do a review on these sardines in the future.
I’ve given up on the Moroccan sardines. Too many scales, too dry a lot of the time, and just mildly unpleasant to me after a couple of them. Nuri and Bela are my daily drivers. I’m ok at the $4-5 range those two sit in.
If you can swing the Nuris then absolutely! I’m not sure if anything can beat those!! I enjoyed these those and will keep them in the rotation until I win the lottery 😆
These are really good. Try Alshark brand with the same seasonings. Have you tried the salmon from Wildfish cannery? They are an Alaskan company. Very good.
Looks like a good combination of veggies and spices. Speaking of cold........... Going down to single digits the next few days in Southwest Ohio.We got 12 inches of snow between Sunday and yesterday afternoon.
Would you be willing to try canned snails or escargot? I have ate them a few years ago a couple times. I ate them out of the can and I heated them up with some butter and garlic. They have a meaty texture of heart and flavor of a mushroom I think. You just have to get past the thought you are eating snails but they are not bad!
Hahaha I hear you!!! That’s a big part of why I started this channel because I was always rolling the dice on Amazon sardine orders and couldn’t find reviews on them. So now I’m the guinea pig! 😁
Best pepper out of a Sardine can might be a pretty low bar rating.😅 I keep thinking I should refrigerate the left over oil for later use, but I haven't done it yet.
That which you value your subscribers must too. I'm feeling your pains along with Winston. The 🥶 is impossible. Remember wearing sweaters with bathrobe, long u/w, hat inside a house in Binghamton - no different from where you are !
@SardineExpedition Heather - Just some stray thoughts, in terms of affordable apparel for Winston: Church giveaways or bazaars, a repurposed baby sweatshirt or sweater, baby blanket with a binder ?
Hahaha thank you!! I have had those. They were the first can of sardines I tried. I’m just not crazy for boneless skinless and the tuna taste, but they led me down the sardine path I’m on 😁😁
Salmon today. Red pepper sauce, Mashed potatoes, and beets. It's funny how there can be such a difference in fishiness berween salmon from different places. I think the canned is the best.
@SardineExpedition The beets smd the red pepper sauce looked like a sunset on the plate, after I was done. The nice thing about being a scientist, is that I can appreciate why.
@SardineExpedition You dodn't know that I'm a food scientist? Beets and dragon fruit have the same molecule which gives them their colour. (rither pink or yellow).
Great value!! Although I'd be hard-pressed to give up the "buttery" texture of Nuris...man, those are so good! 😋 I can see why Winston went for the sardine, but maybe he should get a whole plate of pork rinds just for our ASMR enjoyment! 🤣
Hey! I haven't been through your back catalog yet, but, are there canned fisheries in Alaska? If so, can you do/have you done a tasting? Great comparison and whoever got you the cutting board is so clever!
These look good but will stick to Nuri's spiced at least for now. Couple days ago I ordered the Polar smoked (w the clear top), so looking forward to trying those.
Those are are a complete proper meal, contrary to popular belief. Very close to 100 percent of nutrients needs in every can! Eat to live, not live to eat!
I could see a bunch of scales, on the fish and in the oil at the bottom of the tin, but you didn’t mention-were they not noticeable for you? For me the decider between Flower and Nuri is in the preparation/processing.
@ Conceded. That doesn’t make them pleasant or welcome. In a lifetime of fishing, I’ve never, not once, cleaned a catch and said “Aw, don’t fret over the scales-everybody loves ‘em.”
The Mororccan spiced sardines looks very flavorful with the Moroccan spices and the oil looks very dark. I'll have to get some and try these out when I get the chance. Thanks for your review Heather. Winston seems to enjoy them as well. I also give you props for living in the freezing 🥶 snowy 🌨️❄️ weather in Alaska. I don't like the snowy weather very much. I'll visit the snow when I go up to the mountains 🏔️ during this winter, but I don't like to live in the snowy climate.
Thank you! Winston really gobbled these up!!! I wish I could get a break from winter for sure. Such long winters here! I need a vacation!!! Let me know when you get around to trying these!!!
@@SardineExpeditionAlways nice to see Winston enjoy his share of sardines. Long freezing snowy winters would be unbearable for me. 🌨️🥶 You and Winston definitely need a vacation 😁. I also forgot to mention that the Moroccan spiced sardines have a good size chili pepper 🌶️ in the can. You mentioned the pepper being more flavorful and not very spicy. Looks like these Moroccan spiced sardines would be good on some pita bread with some hummus.🤤😋
I tried the Nuri Spiced sardines the other day, I thought they were very good but I was eating Tums all night. Is there a video on Goya sardines sardines?
Oh man, that’s a bummer! I’m sorry! I haven’t been able to find Goya yet. My channel is new though, so I’m just getting started. I’m looking out for them!
Is that a wedding ring? If not, may I seek your company as a fellow small fish lover. In the event you are not still single, I am sad. But. I am very happy that a gentleman is in your graces. He is blessed. If not let me know:)
Oh noes! Sardines have washed up on the beach and your job is to rescue them! Er, oops, I mean eat them! I love cloves but can't take much heat. Regardless, I'll probably eventually give these a try. Nice review.
Hahahaha luckily I was there to save them from being washed away!😅. According to comments in previous videos, my heat tolerance is on the weaker side lol. Thanks for watching!!!
Once again your video came out right after I had just eaten some canned fish. This time is was the Bumble Bee brand smoked flavored coho salmon. It was good. Since your last video I bought 3 cans of the brisling sardines but I may try them tomorrow. I saw some mackerel from King Oscar on your shelf today. The King is the best. It's freezing cold here this week in my neck of the woods in the southeastern US. So cold that I'm wearing a sweater in the house. It's a good thing that I don't own your dog because I know I would spoil him to death and feed him too much. Until next time happy eating to you both. 😁👍
@stevexray6253 Heck yeah! I’ll grab one if I see it. Sometimes my eyes ignore the canned salmon because we have a freezer full of it, but I’ll look harder!
That’s honestly nuts for Florida!! I lived in Jville for a while and I only remember one time in 7 years that I put a coat on 😆😆. Hope you’re enjoying the break from the heat!!!😁
It's pretty crazy how expensive some of these small cans of fish are. I just checked to see if Amazon Canada has Nuri sardines and they do but you have to give up your first born for them. lol $65 Canadian dollars for 4 cans. I guess I'll be sticking to the cheaper ones but even they're around $2 a can(a lot of them are from china as well which is probably not so great).
I understand because I’ve looked for Canadian brands and they are an arm and a leg on Amazon too. I broke the bank on one can that hasn’t arrived yet. It better not let me down!!!
@SardineExpedition So, it is colder here. Anyways, I'm thinking of taking can of Tuna, draining it, and putting it in a nice warm bowl of roasted red pepper or mushroom soup.
Some brands include the oil in the calories and others don’t and will list (drained) for the oil. So if you’re not consuming all the oil in these, the calories would be a lot less.
I think this is the first time I came across one of your recommendations that I am not a fan of. I found these sardines to be overly salty. I had difficulty in completing a tin.
We don’t always have to agree!! 😁. I like salt, so salty to you might be different. It has to be really salty for me to consider it salty. I’ve had 3 cans now and didn’t find them salty.
That’s similar to how I have sardines in the summer months. Always on some type of salad, which makes a whole quick meal. I do add, a blend of Italian cheeses.
We hope you enjoyed the comparison!! I’ll stay on the lookout for affordable options! Thanks for watching! -Heather and Winston😊

Oh wow that’s neat!! I was pretty darn blown away in that video and still am every time I eat one! I wish I could eat them more often!!!! Thank you!
This made me want some. I put em on naan with red onion & pepper-X mustard dill sauce & 30 seconds in the microwave🎯
Woah that sounds amazing!! You had me at warm naan bread!🤗
Been pretty cold here in North Pole. I'll have to order some of those. Im going to make some sourdough to go with them.Nice cutting board 🎉
More Alaska friends!!!! Awesome!!! Sourdough sounds amazing!!! Thank you!!☺️
You might enjoy the video on Herring in Horseradish Cream. Canned Fish Files. It's from that Company Rugenfisch.
Ok ok! I added it to my cart 😁
That cutting board is so cute!
Thank you!!! It’ll be a nice change of scenery for us here and there!😁
It’s cold here in Florida this morning too (38 deg) but surely not as cold as you are!
Brrrrr now that is cold for Florida!!! I hope you have at least one hoodie or coat for these rare cold days!!!!😁❄️
I like your creativity.
Thanks, Jason!☺️
@@SardineExpedition you are welcome.
Thank you for the video!!
I just found your channel & I am now subscribed!! 👍🏼🐟💜
Thank you so much!!!🥰
I’ve given up on the Moroccan sardines.
Here’s an idea we save the oil from the Nuri cans add garlic, spices and homemade red wine vinegar and make a dipping sauce. It’s amazing!
That would be delicious!
you've given me an idea for Greek salad dressing, thanks
LOL Winston Crunchin' and Smackin' on the pork rinds is Classic.
😆😆😆He cracks me up!
I’ve added sardines instead of anchovies to the top of a pizza. Great addition.
Yes!! Sardine pizza is my absolute favorite!😍
Now I am curious to get some Flower sardines to see how close they are to Nuri.
@@geniusjohn8280 Only one way to find out! 😃
@@SardineExpedition That's why they call me The Genius.
😆😆😁
I do like the extra firmness but will never turn down either unless they come in water.
I hear ya on the water!!
You're in Alaska!...and another piece of the puzzle falls into place! LOL I remain totally fascinated!
Haha I give away little nuggets of info here and there. Had some Alaska footage in my last video 😁
These are really good. Try Alshark brand with the same seasonings. Have you tried the salmon from Wildfish cannery? They are an Alaskan company. Very good.
I have a can of all the salmon varieties from wild fish! I’m going to try and crank out a few more videos each week to keep the reviews coming!😁
Ron Jon sweatshirt is a perfect match for your beach cutting board! (I knew Winston would go for the sardine first :P )
Hahah I don’t even connect that!!! 🏄♂️
Looks like a good combination of veggies and spices. Speaking of cold........... Going down to single digits the next few days in Southwest Ohio.We got 12 inches of snow between Sunday and yesterday afternoon.
Holy smokes you’re getting hammered! Stay safe and warm!! Hope the plows get out there quick!! ❄️
I like your Ron Jon shirt iused to go to the original Ron Jon in cocoa beach fl several decades ago when i lived in central florida
That’d be a cool shop to go to! I used to live in Florida, but never made it there! I lived in Jville.
@@davidz6490 I sure would!!! I’ve got a can to try, so that’ll be coming! I’ve had snails in a restaurant before. They don’t scare me 😁😁
Can't believe I'm buying sardines on Amazon! Heather and Winston will get you hooked! 😅
Hahaha I hear you!!! That’s a big part of why I started this channel because I was always rolling the dice on Amazon sardine orders and couldn’t find reviews on them. So now I’m the guinea pig! 😁
Ill have to try the Flower brand sardines especially at that price! It's also cold here in Michigan I need a good spicy sardine to warm me up lol
Haha yes!!! It does help in the moment!! Let me know what you think when you try them!😁
Best pepper out of a Sardine can might be a pretty low bar rating.😅
I keep thinking I should refrigerate the left over oil for later use, but I haven't done it yet.
Hahah true about the pepper. That’s funny!😄
I don't think the pepper is meant to be eaten, anymore than you should eat them in Sichuan cooking.
@ true, but I still like trying it😁
That which you value your subscribers must too. I'm feeling your pains along with Winston. The 🥶 is impossible. Remember wearing sweaters with bathrobe, long u/w, hat inside a house in Binghamton - no different from where you are !
You stay warm too!! I want to get Winston some flannel pjs and a fur trapper hat!😆
@SardineExpedition Heather - Just some stray thoughts, in terms of affordable apparel for Winston: Church giveaways or bazaars, a repurposed baby sweatshirt or sweater, baby blanket with a binder ?
@lawrenceweinzimer thanks for the ideas!! He’s currently wearing a galaxy blue tank top. Comfy, stretchy fit. He likes his arm pits to breathe😆
🤣🤣Beautiful Beach Board! Good-looking sardine! Have you tried the skinless/boneless sardine from Season in the evoo? They have a beautiful taste!
Hahaha thank you!! I have had those. They were the first can of sardines I tried. I’m just not crazy for boneless skinless and the tuna taste, but they led me down the sardine path I’m on 😁😁
The beach is nice but Savage was AWESOME!! Winston is wise beyound his years! 🥳
Haha thank you!!! ☺️
I’d love to try those! I clearly need to start ordering canned fish online!
I’d be so limited on variety if I didn’t!
@ Oh yeah. 👍🏼
Salmon today. Red pepper sauce, Mashed potatoes, and beets. It's funny how there can be such a difference in fishiness berween salmon from different places. I think the canned is the best.
I love beets!!!! I’m anxious to bust into my canned salmon and see the differences!
@SardineExpedition The beets smd the red pepper sauce looked like a sunset on the plate, after I was done. The nice thing about being a scientist, is that I can appreciate why.
@ A scientist? 🧑🔬. Did not know that!!! Beets do make a meal beautiful. I don’t know anyone in real life that loves them.
@SardineExpedition You dodn't know that I'm a food scientist? Beets and dragon fruit have the same molecule which gives them their colour. (rither pink or yellow).
Going to bed, see new video, get hungry for sardines, weird dreams about sardines, reminds me to pick more up
Haha I’ve never had sardines before bed, but I might try it to see if it gives me weird dreams haha. Sardines dreams! 😆😆🐟
Great value!! Although I'd be hard-pressed to give up the "buttery" texture of Nuris...man, those are so good! 😋 I can see why Winston went for the sardine, but maybe he should get a whole plate of pork rinds just for our ASMR enjoyment! 🤣
Right!! Those buttery Nuris are something else!! Winston would love that for sure! Crunch crunch crunch!😁😆
Hey! I haven't been through your back catalog yet, but, are there canned fisheries in Alaska? If so, can you do/have you done a tasting?
Great comparison and whoever got you the cutting board is so clever!
There is! Wild fish cannery! I ordered their whole line and will start trying them soon for ya! 😁
@SardineExpedition looking forward to it!
It’s cold here in Texas today so that tells me Alaska must be really cold. Heck we’re supposed to get 4” or more snow.
That is insane!!!! This weather storm is just nasty everywhere!! Stay warm!
These look good but will stick to Nuri's spiced at least for now. Couple days ago I ordered the Polar smoked (w the clear top), so looking forward to trying those.
If you can stick to Nuris then heck yeah!!! It’s a good alternative for the price difference!! Report back on those polars! 😁
Polars are one of my favorites!
@BoomerLoveforGenZ Polar has some great sardines!!😁
Crispy toasty bread....ooo yum!
Mmmmm!
I would suggest that you should start tasting them with a proper meal, rather than individually, just saying. Love the video. Keep going.
What kind of meal?
Those are are a complete proper meal, contrary to popular belief.
Very close to 100 percent of nutrients needs in every can!
Eat to live, not live to eat!
@@SardineExpeditioncracklins!
@revolvermaster4939 I’ve got those on my grocery list already!! I loveeeeee cracklins!
@@SardineExpedition fresh ones from the meat market are a different world, they’re addictive!
Do you make your own spaghetti sauce, and if so, do you ever put anchovies in?
Winston is hilarious !
😆😆 you should see him in the anchovy video!
I could see a bunch of scales, on the fish and in the oil at the bottom of the tin, but you didn’t mention-were they not noticeable for you? For me the decider between Flower and Nuri is in the preparation/processing.
I noticed that too when editing! I did not notice at all upon tasting. Had a second can yesterday and didn’t see the scales on that one.
They’re edible!
@ Conceded. That doesn’t make them pleasant or welcome. In a lifetime of fishing, I’ve never, not once, cleaned a catch and said “Aw, don’t fret over the scales-everybody loves ‘em.”
@ you’ve never eaten rainbow trout, they’re not scaled? I never notice scales in sardines other than seeing them.
Winston is cute…and that crunch 😄
Hahah his pork rind crunch is the best!!!🤗
@ oh my gosh yes that would be incredible!! These comments are making me want some warm bread so bad lol
After seeing your recent video, I had Polar sardines for dinner. Yummy!
Delicious!!!! I hope you enjoyed them!! Thank you!😊
Heather, have you tried the Sea Castle in Pure Olive Oil?
Not yet, but I have a can. Do you like it?😃
It's kind of hard to see the sardines on that brown cutting board😊
Hahah it’ll just be for once in a while when I’m bored! 😁
It comes in oil or tomato sauce!!
I’m in Alaska and a lover of sardines; what are the chances?
That’s awesome!!!! 🤩 we have two big things in common!!!😁😁
Since you mentioned Alaska, I cant help but keep wondering if polar bears only like Polar sardines .
😆😆😆
I'll have to ask one, next time I'm wrestling him, and we take a lunch break...
I don’t think I’ve seen bumblebee salmon yet! I’ll keep an eye out!! You stay warm bundled up in your sweater!! Yeah, Winston is hard not to spoil! 😁
@SardineExpedition It's less expensive but it's good. I usually sprinkle a little sea salt on it and grab a non-alcoholic beer and dig in.
@stevexray6253 Heck yeah! I’ll grab one if I see it. Sometimes my eyes ignore the canned salmon because we have a freezer full of it, but I’ll look harder!
@SardineExpedition I like it because it's not fishy. If the brisling sardines are too fishy for me then the feral cat gets a nice meal.😁
@stevexray6253 haha lots of cats get lucky when there’s a sardine eater around!
4:20 - Winston did not look happy with the Flower brand Moroccans beating (or tieing) the Nuris! He turned his back until the end!
😆😆😆 that’s hilarious! He’s still ticked. He added more Nuris to my Amazon cart when I wasn’t looking.
@@SardineExpedition Those pugs.... Always planning their next nefarious move!
Its cold down here in Tampa,Fl. Its 45*F !!
That’s honestly nuts for Florida!! I lived in Jville for a while and I only remember one time in 7 years that I put a coat on 😆😆. Hope you’re enjoying the break from the heat!!!😁
Are there any tin fish products made in Alaska.
Wild fish cannery is the one I have several cans from that I purchased! I’ll be working my way through them and will share! 😁
@@SardineExpedition I hear ya. It's always a bummer when you spend a lot of money on a can that turns out to be a dud.
@percaine right! I don’t even like cheap cans that are duds 😆
@@SardineExpedition Same and there are definitely enough cheap cans that are duds. 😁 Living in Alaska probably doesn't help much with the price eh?
@percaine it’s hit or miss on prices here! The main issue is the lack of variety!!
How's the surfing in Alaska??🥶
Slippery lol
Love Winston !!!
😁😁🤗
Which would you rather eat for the price of Nuris. Sardines OR tuna belly?
I honestly don’t think I’ve had tuna belly!
@SardineExpedition How cold is it there?
@Christopher-b1p that day it was like 10 degree Fahrenheit. Now it’s a heat wave in the mid 30s so it rained and now it’s an ice rink.
@SardineExpedition So, it is colder here. Anyways, I'm thinking of taking can of Tuna, draining it, and putting it in a nice warm bowl of roasted red pepper or mushroom soup.
@Christopher-b1p Soup would be great!! The wind here has been nuts which makes it painful!
Why are the calories so much higher?
Spices should not add calories.
I'm so jealous of your wall of cans.
It’s become a sweet collection!! Everyday I’m like ahhhhh which oneeeee! Thank you!
Ordering!
Sweet! Let me know what you think!
That’s similar to how I have sardines in the summer months. Always on some type of salad, which makes a whole quick meal. I do add, a blend of Italian cheeses.
That would be good! Love salads in the summer!
Gherkin is a funny word.
😆😆 I agree!
Ron Jon? How’s the surfing in Alaska?
It’s not fun!😆
@@SardineExpeditionYeah, I imagine the ice flows could be a real problem.
@The-Armed-Pacifist 😆😆
