The Great Value sardines in water are my go to. I lightly saute them in evoo, crushed fresh garlic, umani seasoning, onion salt, and red pepper flakes. Sometimes I'll saute them with sliced cherry tomatoes, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze and eat them with sunnyside up eggs. So good. 🤤
My notes say that the great value in mustard is shockingly decent. They have a good firm texture and are one of the few discount sardines that I actually like. I have heard that they’re canned by the same company as Wild Planet, so it’s not surprising that they’re decent.
I was pleasantly surprised by GV sardines, while I dont eat them often I try to introduce seafood like this into my diet once to twice a week and these were really good for the price.
surprised how firm these look but they are pilchards so i guess that is usually the case when in a mild liquid. def not going to go out of my way for these but if i had to get some walmart deenz in a pinch for camping or whatever i'd probably get these. thanks for showcasing these, its good to have some info on the viability of these cheap fishies good review thanks
The real trick is removing the lid without flinging water or oil across the kitchen! Wild Planet are my favorites. But at 3 times the price, i am open to less expensive options. How do these GV sardines compare to the Wild Planet? Thanks for this video. SUBSCRIBED
@@krazmokramer the GV are soybean oil, so that’s the kicker. Going on taste alone, I’d get the GV over WP just due to the huge price difference. The GV had a smoky taste that the WP doesn’t have. It’s an artificial smoke but it was there. If the oil matters though, that’s a different story. I’m going to review as many as I can and see what all is out there! See what the best option is without soybean oil. But for $1.00 the GV in oil we’re pretty good. Then there’s always the option of water or adding your own good quality oil.
@@SardineExpedition The GV sounds like a good option. I really don't eat the oil anyway. My small town only has a WM and a Dillons (Kroger). I avoid the Dillons like I avoid Covid. I just ordered a boat load of WP sardines and WP salmon. The GV and those Brunswick Gourmet are next on my list. I don't eat pork or beef, and as a retired dentist I have to watch my mercury consumption from fish. Sardines and salmon are the safest options for me. Thanks for your reply and your videos!!
@ Sounds like you’ve got a nice sardine haul coming!!! I haven’t tried a lot of canned salmon as I get it fresh here in Alaska, but I’ve got some to try!!!
I hope you enjoyed the review! Check out my other cheap sardine reviews here!

I like Sardines also, I would also add a can of Sardines in water for my dogs meals.
Lucky dogs!!! Sardines are so good for dogs and us! 😁. Thanks for watching!
Same, but my dog prefers the GV in oil, less sodium, too.
@@revolvermaster4939 Winston would take any sardine 😁
GV in water are my favorite! Thank you
Nice! Can't beat the can for the price!! Thanks for watching! :)

I’ve finally got a can of it so I’ll have to try that soon! Now I wonder if it’s better than the bumble bee!

Thank you so much!! Starting to feel more comfortable talking to camera. It was awkward at first for sure! Thanks so much for watching! ☺️☺️
@SardineExpedition you're doing wonderfully. Keep them coming .
Peace ✌️ , Be Free .
Can’t stand sardines in water, but eat sardines in oil almost daily, keeps my back pain away better than prescription anti inflammatories.
I prefer the oil too! 😊 good lubricant
@ 🤣, also better texture & flavor IMO!

Yes, a good one to have in the pantry and add your own stuff to it. 😁

I agree for in a pinch or camping. Took some Cheapo sardines on a caribou hunt recently. It was a meal!

Soy bean oil is polyunsaturated and contains vitamin K & omega 3 fatty acids, not an unhealthy oil.
I’m seeing there’s a lot of oil opinions out there. Just have to do what’s best for you! Thanks for watching!!😊😊
