I've tried the Bumblebee Louisiana hot sauce sardines yesterday and they were surprisingly good. I haven't tried any of the mustard sardines. Thanks for your review.
They are pretty good! I’m glad you liked them. I’ve got two more cans of mustard from different brands I haven’t tried yet so I’m super curious how those stack up. Thanks so much for watching😊😊😊
I must subscribe to your channel, I thought I was the only one who was interested in sardine foodology. If you are ever in California, you must visit the Monterey cannery row where it was the canned sardine center of the world until they ran out of sardines in 1957....lots of sardine history at that place....John Steinbeck's old neighborhood.
I’m glad you found me!! Ooo that would be super interesting to check out. I have family in Portugal so it’s on my bucket list to go there and score a bunch of sardines! Thanks so much for the comment!😊
I buy the round Polar tins of brisling sardines . A product of Latvia, they are round and the lid is not metal. It's transparent thick plastic that peels off smoothly without any splashes and no sharp edges to avoid.. You can easily see the sardines inside the can. In fact the first time I saw them like that I just assumed that what I was looking at was just a really nice graphic on the lid of some beautiful little sardines. But it's the actual sardines. It's very cool and they are so gorgeous. They are not flavored sardines but they are hand packed in olive oil and wood smoked. . I am sixty one years old and I've been eating sardines ever since my father shared his can with me back in 1967. That's back when they came with a key and you used it to roll up the metal lid of the can into a neat little tin scroll that rested well out of your way at the far end of the can. I used to beg my father to let me open the cans. He almost always did. And he even let me keep the little metal keys. I must have collected a couple of hundred of them before I started buying my own sardines. I really wish they bring back the keys. I don't even recall my father or me ever getting splashed or cut because of the lid. I can't say the same for today's tins with the exception of the round Polar Brand. And I have found that if you really like sardines in mustard sauce, or hot sauce, or with more smoke flavor or anything else. Buying just a good standard can of sardines and adding your own mustard, hot sauce, liquid smoke, or whatever, including jalapeno juice from a jar of pickled jalapenos. Is so much better and much more satisfying than those cheap imitation sauces that these companies put in their cans of sardines. I've even gone so far as to drain off all the olive oil that comes with the sardines, ( usually into my dogs food bowl. He loves sardines too.) , and replace it with a high quality olive oil instead. One big benefit of doing it yourself is that you never grab the wrong can of sardines and end up with tomato sauce when you thought that you had grabbed mustard. Not to mention that you get to pick your flavor every single time and you get to customize it yourself to your own personal tastes . I have adopted the Polār brand as my personal go to brand because they are not expensive, $2.23 at my local Walmart. And they are of good quality and are very tasty sardines .
I just did a review of the Brunswick brislings that come in a can similar to the Polars you like. I actually mentioned the polar in that video because I’ve eaten a ton of those Polars. Love them. So tasty for the price! I keep hearing about those cans with the keys. Wish I could get my hands on one of those. I agree on the flavors. I’m having fun trying what’s out there but they are all lacking in some way so far. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!! 😁
I worked at Stinson Canning sardine plant in Belfast Maine while in high-school, my grandmother worked there 50 years, I remember a lot from that about the process involved, would love to share those memories if possible ❤
What a great in-depth comparison! I'll have to try those Bumble Bee's. Still trying to find the nutritional info for them. At least Beechcliff has the info on their website.
I’m glad you liked the review! I find it odd the cheap cans don’t have to put nutrition label on it. At the store it might be on the box they always have them in on the shelf.
Opening that first can lololol Mustard sardines are a favorite of mine, i usually eat the chicken of the sea ones because they are so cheap but i recognize that they are low quality. Honey mustard vibes from the bumble bee sounds interesting i'm gonna grab a can. Never been down with beech cliff, i think i had their soybean oil sardines once, pretty mid. I really like your style and in depth break down on these deenz, loving this channel gonna get my gf to subscribe too thanks for the great review cheers
Freaking mustard all over me and my leggings lol. No one I know gives two craps about a sardine so I’m glad to find others who do! 😁Thanks so much for the sub!
If you really want some quality mustard sardines without all the gunk in them that has the proper mustard flavor I would recommend getting standard sardines, getting a jar of mustard spread, preferably something like mustard seed to avoid corn syrup and other additives, or honey and mustard seed, then combining them, either together or in whatever dish you want to prepare. Of all the mustard sardine brands I have gotten it always has that strange aftertaste which I suspect comes from the vinegar doing some odd stuff to the mustard and breaking down that proper fresh mustard flavor.
That’s what I’ve done and I agree it’s a much better way to go. I don’t understand how they can mess up mustard lol. Seems like it should be easy enough. I need to grab a few new mustards. I like the ones with a horseradish kick.
I have a comparison video on my channel of great value lol vs wager. Also had great value in my Louisiana hot sauce sardine video. I’ve got a few more can of theirs though to try still! ☺️
The only con (pro vs con) to eating canned sardines in that danger of splashback when opening a can! It is always a gamble. I have almost mastered it but in the process I have ruined many a shirt! Sorry, but I laughed when you got splattered.
In all honesty, I'd rather just buy a good can of sardines in oil, and add my own mustard.
100%. So many good mustards out there and it doesn’t have to live in the can with the sardines.

Wow I’d love to see that and hear about it! 50 years?!? She was a committed woman! Must’ve loved the job!😁😁

I've loved Beach Clift sardines and smoked herring for many years. They can keep the mustard.
Haha yes they can! Have you tried the beech cliff mustard? Thanks for watching!😊😊
One would expect them to taste compare the competition to get things right.
I'd like to see you try the Walmart store brand sardines.
I have a comparison video on my channel of great value lol vs wager. Also had great value in my Louisiana hot sauce sardine video. I’ve got a few more can of theirs though to try still! ☺️
Beach Cliff fish steaks in oil with chilis is really good.
I’ve got a can to try! Good to know! Thanks! 😊
Great video . I wonder does anyone produce sardines in a wasabi sauce ( maybe in Japan ? ) ✌️ Peace , Be Free .
I’d be down to try those!

Lmao yeah I’m trying to master it but the cans with the stickers over it sucks. I’m not a fan of wearing it!
Bumble Bee tuna? Somebody's been watching Ace Ventura... lol
Hahahahah used to be my favorite movie way back when. 🤣🤣🤣
I hope you didn't get any stain on your arm.
lol nope, no arm stain!
Ive never liked any of the Beechcliff offerings.
The few I’ve had so far were not impressive. I can say that! Thanks for watching! 😊
the beach cliff sardines are always... sad. I've honestly been loving the great value sardines at walmart.
Yep pretty sad so far. The GV were both decent..oil and water. I have a GV mustard I haven’t tried yet.
