Great review! Brunswick sardines are excellent quality and a great value. You definitely want to also try the Brunswick Wild Caught Sardine Fillets in Hot Pepper. Less that $2 a can and excellent, one of the few hot pepper sardines (actually herring which I prefer) that really packs a great pepper flavor, spicy, but not too much. 💖🐟
Watched the video. Searched online at the 2 grocery stores in my town. Got super disappointed as neither carry them. Found them in the rain forest!!! Woot-woot THANKS for this video!
I think you're right about the plastic lowering the expiration date, i know that bottled water only expires because the plastic begins to degrade. Never seen brunswick deenz or the butterfly but i have had their kipper snacks in the long can and i like them. those brislings are beautiful. honestly i might have overlooked that can of butterfly herring but your endorsement makes them sounds great so i'm gonna keep an eye out. another great review appreciate it thank you
That was my thought and also the seal just can’t be as tight. Oh you must try the brislings!! I need someone to let me know they are as good as I think they are. 😆 I’ve gotta get more of those asap. Thanks again for watching!! 😊😊
Producers vary in their approaches to best-buy dates on this relatively new packaging tech. For example, Brunswick has been slightly more conservative (2 years) than MW Polar (3 years). The two companies who developed the technology, though, say it’s good for five years, same as traditional canning.
@@deweyd8210 sure if you trust what corporations tell you. Personally, I do not. Sounds as though even they cannot agree on what the true shelf date is. I love sardines. Cant believe I found this channel. I have a question for everyone. Does anyone remember a brand called Norwegian. I remember they had a key glued to the can and you would clip the key on a tab and roll back the lid. I just remember those are what I started eating when I first ate sardines and they were way smaller than the ones get today and in my opinion by being small they were way more flavorful. Can anyone remember these and does anyone know if you can still purchase them from somewhere or did they stop making them altogether.
Those were "sardines" when I was a kid in the 1960s. That's the only kind my mom bought. And that key pre-dated the pull top tin. Like how church keys were needed to open cans of beer before pull tabs. Yeah....I'm old...
The herring are product of Canada The sprats are product of Latvia I'm guessing the laws in canada allow for a broader number of species to be called sardines. It is pretty lame to be able to call any small fish a sardine but I think I might prefer the herring over sardines anyways. So I looked into tis deeper and yea the sprats and herring are likely same species, which seems weird to me and I dont know why they need 2 different names. I think there are also much larger herring than we see in cans, perhaps the larger are mure expensive and used for other apps, idk. What confuses me now is Capelin. Canadian capelin fishery is supposed to be huge and important but for what? I thought they might be another species of sardine but I've never seen capelin for sale anywhere including a can. Anyways, I might try these but I really enjoy the cheap cans of golden smoked brunswick herring that go on special for $1.
I’ll have to look for the gold cans and try those! The more I look into sardines the more confused I get. One site said brislings grow to be larger than herring? It also seems like they call everything a sardine as marketing since everyone is familiar with that term. I don’t know!! Hoping this all catches on with me the more I eat these. Seems like it shouldn’t be this complicated haha. It’s still fun though! I appreciate your comment! 😁😁
