- Installing ECGS (East Coast Gear Supply) CV axle bushing. This bushing eliminates the factory needle bearing. This bushing helps with problematic vibrations or growling noise associated with lift kits and increasing operating angle of the CV axle. This increase in operating angle creates an abnormal force on the OE bearing and causes premature failure.
Manufactures Description: One Sintered PTFE Bushing, metal backed, bronze inlaid, PTFE coated CV axle bushing for Toyota 8" front clamshell differential. Fits all 05 to current year model Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, and 03 up 4runner DOES NOT FIT AWD 4RUNNER AND FJ CRUISER. Replaces Driver side CV axle needle bearing with bushing to help control Vibration and shaft float common on these differentials. Replaces Needle Bearing Part # 90364-35010 and 90364-35008. This is for the drivers side ONLY, the passenger side uses a ball bearing. This is for the bushing ONLY, the removal tool is also an option to allow one to easily remove the stock needle Bearing.

Hey, the needle bearing wore out on a bone stock 06 Sequoia with 186,000 miles. Come over Saturday and bring your tools, I'll provide the beer and BBQ. You are a master.
Awesome video on the replacement. I was racing against the rain in my drive way. Had to get this done this weekend on my daily driver, the front end was starting to make decent noise and vibrations. Thanks for including all the torque specs saved me having to look them up. Also you made this look easy.
This video helped me out a ton! Hope I don't get burned for not replacing the seals. The inner ones looked good.
Thank you for such a fantastic installation video. Can’t wait to do mine.
Absolute best install video on this bushing that I've seen so far!
Nice, professional and, super clean! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Very slick, great to watch those skills!
Glad you enjoyed it
This guy is a BOSS. Great work.
Wtf…I just got quoted $1300 to get this done. These guys are crazy
The factory replacement does not fix the problem. Thanks for the tip!!
You are a legit mechanic my dude! you can work on any of my vehicles
Excellent job!
Nice video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I hope all mechanics are this careful! He cleaned the diff and fished out some metal shavings. Im worried a shop wont treat my ride so nice
Awesome job. Great video.
ECGS says there bushing lasts 500,000 miles, I’m in favor of this product.
Great work
Dang, you made that look easy.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job
Nice to see a real mechanic at work. Really fast even when filming it. I like how you removed the tie rod, what brand tie rod removal tool are you using.
awesome job, now I am just trying to get over the dizziness...
SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video...thx for sharing. Question...what kind of lube/grease (blue) did you use on the inside of the new seal? Likewise, what did you use on the outside (tube) of the seal?
So only Driver side needs to be done?
Will this kit work on a 2023 Tacoma? The link that is provided that you put up?
What did you charge to get this done?
Were can I buy the bushes and tools to do the work myself I have a 2004 Toyota tundra left cv needs replaced no one near me has even heard not go back with a sleeve instead of the needle bearing
Is there a bushing on the pass. side? 98 4runnner has play on pass. side also. Thanks
Can i use pilot bearing puller to remove the needle bearing or do i have to buy the ecgs tool its backordered right now thanks
Is there a clip i have to remove when pulling out the axle?
Need to get a kit from ECGS bearing, axle seal, and removal tool ,as well installation tool, all for toyota hilux r h d 4x4 1kd engine type, how do I order it.need help to place order.
What is that little tank you used to spray something called and what did you spray?
Can this be an issue on a non-lifted 05 4runner with 140k miles? I get vibration at ~65-70 MPH. Sometimes it vibrates a lot, sometimes a little.
the bushing goes only on the driver side?
Nice vid!
Yes
I’m wondering if you held the outer end of the cv shaft up it would maybe help to remove the shaft from the differential. Helping the c clip to relax while you hammer on the pry bar.
Just wondering 💭. 🤔
I used a axle fork. Popped out in first wack !
Question, I have a 2014 Tacoma with 180k miles, noticed my needle bearing is worn, front cv axle to diff has up and down motion, its not lifted, stock height, would you recommend I stick to the OE needle bearing or install this bushing.
I would recommend the ECGS bushing.
How do I find the size of the from diff on 2012 tacoma?
Anytime you lift a vehicle more than 2” , you must do a diff drop. 2” is the rule of thumb I would say.
Does it only go on the driver side ?
I have a 2023 4Runner that I just did a level kit/ spacer in the front. Does the 4Runner have the same front diff as the Tacoma ? Meaning will I have the same needle bearing issue as the Tacoma but I’m my 4runner
yes...usually around 100-150k
I recently did this on my 5th gen 4runner. I have the seal driver for the bearing. But where can I find that rubber seal driver at? I used a large brass punch to set the seal in by working it around with light taps, but I'd rather have the right tool for a tacoma that I plan to do soon.
So the one I used here I believe was a race driver that we machined to fit this. There are similar tools out there that install those seals the same way
@@POVMechanic Thank you! I am literally looking at some race drivers on amazon right now. I have another seal sitting at home and I will measure and compare.
Hey I just got a 2023 4Runner and did the 1” spacer in front to level it out , would you recommend this or just diff drop spacers?
What size is the axle nut?
Hi. Do you know if the nitro bushing is any good? Thanks
From what I’ve read you’ll get a vibration or you can actually grab the inner portion of the cv axle and move it
Apakah ada di jual di indonesia jg yah bushing bgtu
put something in the diff to clog it so no metal pieces go into it if you break the needle bearing
By not fixing or replacing the ECGS CV Bushing, what can happen?
Needles get sent into diff and will cost you 2750 to replace whole diff unless you’re under warranty and not lifted I know some dealerships will still change it if your truck is diff drop, since stock geometry is the same, there’s a TSB for it
This is just for the driver side right , a little confused if the passenger side has the same thing or not ??
Yes, just for the driver side. Passenger side uses a different bearing
What bearing does the passenger side use? Thinking I’m going to have to replace that as well.
Only driver side you recommend
Needle bearing is only on the driver's side.
@@MrLiquidArrogance what is on the other side ?
@@glennbrooks3449 Passenger side is a ball bearing
@@BenBinnebose Thanks for the reply Ben but I do not know if it makes me feel good. I have ordered the ECGS kit and it does not make me feel good replacing a needle bearing with a bush when the passenger side works fine on a ball bearing. Maybe I will regret not just putting a new needle bearing back. At least then it may work for a couple of years or more before it gets bad again. Hope I made the right decision.
@@glennbrooks3449 you definitely did. ECGS bushings are highly recommended around the toyota community.
Where are you located? Im in north/central California looking for a shop to do this. Got a quote from 2 shops one $500 other $800 labor alone. Seems preety steep to me. If im gonna that much id rather have the dealership do it
paying 250 for it this weekend
@@Jostln the cheapest reputable shop in my area is charging $285 labor only. I need to provide the bushing and install/removal tool. (Monterey County California) will be doing it in the near future
@@jrdainvestor8304 glad you found a cheaper place man, those California labor prices are through the roof. hope that nasty needle bearing vibration goes away!!!
How much does this job cost ?
My guess is 4 hrs at 150/hr would be a good start, depending on where you live maybe higher or lower
What’s the bushing installer kit you’re using?
The kit is from East Coast Gear Supply
