    This is terrible. I had a friend who had Cystic Fibrosis, got double lung transplant which unfortunately, rejected so she passed away. I like to think that she was able to experience how to breathe easy before she passed. My heart goes out to Julie's family. Just so sad.

      Double lung transplant? Damn! I didnt even know that was a thing! We do live in somewhat of a golden age.......technology wise anyway, common sense and intelligence seem to be doing the exact opposite. I'm sorry to hear your friends immune system rejected the new lungs but the simple fact that they could even attempt to do a double lung transplant is mind boggling to me.

      Cat LaB I had a friend that unfortunately passed away from CF. She was actually one of the oldest living CF patients in Texas at the age of 42.

    • @neuralmute
      @neuralmute 6 лет назад +1

      I know a girl who had a double lung transplant for CF as well! She's in her mid-20's, and currently healthy; she says it's the best thing that ever happened to her, as she'd be dead by now without it. Instead her life expectancy has been more than doubled. It's still nowhere near the average for a Canadian woman, but living past 20 means a lot to her! CF is such a brutal, evil disease. Even though I've got quite severe asthma and related problems, I can't begin to imagine how people with CF can cope with what they have to live through. You all have my deepest admiration, just for making it from one day to the next!

    John, you have such a big heart, little things like putting info about cystic fibrosis in description, so nice. This is such a sad story. It comes to my mind that if the funeral home had anything to do with it, wouldn't they just give the family "fake" ashes to cover their own butts? Another thing, could someone have stolen her body for medical research? With jewelry being left behind, that kind of makes sense. As horrible as that sounds it could be possible. I pray that this lovely young woman is brought home to her family. Great job John. Xoxo

      You do make a good point here. They absolutely could have just not said a word and given them either someone else's ashes or fake ashes and they would have never been the wiser...hmm...makes me wonder because my theory was the boyfriend is creepy as hell but he didnt take her...and the funeral home just had yet another mix up and she was cremated and accidentally given to someone else

      Chloe Papillon there has been a regular 2 down votes on all of Johns videos that show up in the first 5 minutes if the uploads, for over a year now.
      That suggests dedication or perhaps major issues :)

    • @raynaclarke3488
      @raynaclarke3488 6 лет назад +2

      Ben bradlee I dont think they meant any harm with their comment. It is quite reasonable to assume that on a show dealing with cases of possible pedophilia (missing kids) and murders that some of the thumb down votes could come from guilty people associated with these activities or possibly involved in the cases John is working on. I don't think that person is a fuck face for saying it's possible pedophiles may not like a show that could possibly expose them. Stop being so over sensitive.

    • @tiffanyroberts4984
      @tiffanyroberts4984 6 лет назад +7

      Some people "thumbs down" things with sad content because they feel it's rude to put a thumbs up on something about a deceased person. It's possibly just someone who thinks the thumbs up/down system is similar to liking on Facebook.

      If that was the case, why wouldn't they just fake her cremation? Can't DNA test cremated remains. It would look better for the funeral home to say "oops we cremated your daughter earlier than expected" than "oops someone broke in and stole the body"

    Not so hard to believe that a funeral home has screwed up somehow if it is indeed them and not the boyfriend. A funeral home in my area placed a elderly gentleman in a cremation box out in the garage (during the cold weather) because no one in his family would claim him and pay for the cost so they stored him there. The trash collection company came and took him along with rubbish to the dump thinking that it was a box with garbage. Who would think a person would be stored in a garage with the trash? They discovered him missing eventually and by then it was too late to locate the body. The family then sued the funeral home and won. The very family that wouldn't claim him!! It was a well respected business so who would think they would store someone in a garage? They indeed needed to be called out for the bad business practice but it also was unfortunate that the family won money because they didn't care enough to take care of their loved one when they should have. I'm glad Julie's family is suing the business about their business practices. You would think that they would have had better security since they use other people's services. Hoping this ends quickly for her families sake.

    Wait... what if they did actually cremate her and she got confused or mixed up with someone else's remains?! If you want to know more about cremation and the funeral industry, I HIGHLY recommend you check out Caitlin Doughty's channel AskAMortician

    • @jessicabethard9866
      @jessicabethard9866 6 лет назад +3

      Emily Garcia I was thinking about her for the entirety of this video! But if they mixed her remains up with someone else's why wouldn't they just give any remains to the family and say they are hers? The family has no way of knowing if the remains are the correct remains.

    • @tonyam6420
      @tonyam6420 6 лет назад

      Life, the Universe and Mommyhood I would say that they don't know, if that's the case, our they would have. Because if they gave them some random ashes and then her body shows up somewhere, what then?

    • @jessicabethard9866
      @jessicabethard9866 6 лет назад +3

      Tonya M Marshall Oh, absolutely. I was going on the theory that they cremated her and lost the ashes or otherwise knew what happened to her body. If they have no clue (which is what I think) then, of course, they couldn't just hand off random ashes. My theory is that the owners have no idea what happened to her body. Maybe it was stolen or maybe an employee did something. But if the owners knew where her body was I believe they would have concocted something to "fix" the situation. A regular employee/body snatcher wouldn't have the need for a cover up.

    @silverstuff182 6 лет назад +2

    I'm so impressed with your donation idea. Maybe to show what this remarkable lady was like when alive you could add some video clips each day for a few days, just one minute clips of her.
    As per the subject of this BrainScratch, I learned when my family members started passing away that funeral home people, who learn to act sympathetic, are some of the most callous, unfeeling people you would never want to meet. When my Dad died I put a 5 X 8 photo of his only grandchild in the casket. On the way to the cemetery the whole caravan stopped and a guy from the funeral home ran over to my car, opened the door and gave me the photo. I said "What are you doing! I put it in the casket. That's where it belongs!. Then, hopefully, he put it back. BIZARRE, no?
    Then, when my sister died I put a 3 X 5 bit of notepaper in with her body before they closed the casket. We then walked into the chapel, but I looked back. There was this funeral home dude opening the casket again, grabbing the little note and throwing it on the floor. WHAT'S UP WITH THIS?? What's their agenda? Is the 3 X 5 note going to hurt somebody? I got up, much to my mother's dismay and insisted that he put the note back. Stomach turning, I must say!

    I meant to mention this before but forgot. I’m a relatively new follower of the channel but I really respect you and the work you do, John. So it meant a lot to me to see you donate to a charity involving cystic fibrosis. I never knew Julie Mott but I do know others who did have the fortune to meet her across the digital cf community, and they all agreed that if anyone deserved a proper burial, it was her. Thank you for helping our community by spreading her story and subsequently the story of her peers, the others suffering from cystic fibrosis. Myself included.

    New subscriber - Like many people on here, I watch a lot of these type of videos. I was introduced to yours recently, and I have to say I like the way you present things. So many others don't go into details like you do. And I like how it almost feels like your personally in a discussion with us. I also appreciate the fact that if you don't know something you say so; you say "don't quote me" and "I THINK", rather than presenting it as fact like so many others do which muddles the opinion and thoughts. And that you provide other links so we can venture into investigating ourselves of we want. Good job!

    I will say this...
    Him being the last person to leave and staying there longer than everyone, isn't suspicious. When my ex died, I was so distraught at his wake, I was frozen to the chair. I didn't want to say goodbye. The mortuary employees were creeped out by me. But I didn't care. He was my love. I think someone else had something to do with it and seen her ex and his odd behavior as their perfect distraction away from their crime. That's just my opinion though

    Is leaving jewelry behind something workers/transporters would typically do say for "after hours collection" for offsite cremation so the funeral home can give it back to the family? I don't see a thief taking time for that especially if it was the ex and he thought she wore the ring he gave her.

    • @vickytria512
      @vickytria512 6 лет назад +1

      When my mother was cremated they made sure to remove her jewelry before taking her body. So yes, I imagine that would be accurate, however I also would think they would have a proper log system for leaving jewelry and personal effects. Or it might be up to the funeral home to remove those effects before cremation.

      Except it happened in the span of 3 hours from her funeral at 1:30 - 4:30 when they closed...and they hadn't done any cremations in that span of time. Maybe they accidentally put her in someone elses casket?

    • @Andrea1542
      @Andrea1542 4 года назад

      She was going to be cremated anyway. The viewing was over, if they cremated her early there would be no reason to hide that. If you have a whole lot of time and want to really end up scratching your head, go to mydeathspace dot com and check out the Julie Mott thread. It's long, but her crazy Ex Bill posts there a whole lot. You will be left with very little doubt over what happened with her body.

    I'm a funeral director. I wonder if Julie's body was embalmed for her service before cremation, and if so, how much the process of embalming could throw off cadaver dogs. Embalming effectively stops decomposition, at least in the short term. I'll have to look into it!

    Maybe I`ve just missed it but I didn`t saw any opinion about that case which asks question about, what if the funeral houses has buisness in selling bodies to some kind of medical research facilities? I know it sounds like a conspiracy but in the same timie body parts or whole bodies can cost a lot of money. Great episode as always, greets to John and all of you Brain Scratchers!

      It's a long shot but what if she really didn't have Cystic Fibrosis but died from malpractice from her doctors. The doctors arrange to have her turn up missing before that is discovered.

    • @bravo795mp
      @bravo795mp 5 лет назад +2

      William R Hall cystic fibrosis is not something that is just misdiagnosed ... if you don’t know much about CF you should research it. It’s got VEERY specific symptoms: like decline in lung function & basically drowning in mucus/lung infections that increasingly become unresponsive to antibiotics/ other issues like needing to take pancreatic enzymes with EVERY meal in order for there body to be able to break down and process food into “usable” food (otherwise they will just keep losing weight) sometimes liver issues and other pancreas issues like trouble controlling blood sugar levels...these are all a VERY specific cluster of symptoms that comes together to form CF.
      A great form of info is Mary Frey Vlog on RUclips... she has CF.. and documents her life and is SUPER nice. Her page is called the Frey life.

      Then rather than bringing all of this crazy attention to themselves they could easily have put other peoples cremains into an urn to give the family and no one would ever be the wiser. The family themselves fully believe she was stolen, the funeral home is still responsible for not properly doing their job, hence the lawsuit and payout. The family is quite sure of who took the remains and why.

    Hi John,
    I can see at least three possibilities that could have happened here.....but I think the last one I will put forward is the most likely explanation for what has happened.
    A:
    The ex boyfriend Wilburn certainly stands out as a potential suspect with his over the top behaviour....BUT, perhaps he is just a man who doesn't have the same skill set and grasp on social etiquette as most of the rest of the population. When he does things, he does them to extreme. Perhaps his personality traits and his way of grieving both the loss of his relationship with Julie, and then the real loss of her through her death have caused him behave in an odd and therefore suspicious manner. I don't think he is involved, but is stuck on trying to find out what happened...making himself even more "a person of interest".
    B:
    This is throwing out a curve ball....but I imagine that Julie's own family would be the last people the investigators would be looking at. You said in the start of your post that the families of Julie and Dick Tip were very well known to one another, and that Julie's father had at some time been employed, and then fired, by Tip. I wonder if there had been some ongoing (hidden) unexpressed anger?/animosity? on the part of Julie's father in relation to this episode, and after Julie's death he thought that he would seek revenge for this episode, and stole Julie's body and then waited an appropriate? amount of time to start the law suit to get the million+ dollars from the man who fired him (or at least cause trouble for the firm). What more is known about the circumstances under which Julie's father was fired? I don't think this is very likely to be the case, but perhaps it should be investigated just to close any avenues not addressed.
    C:
    A business that has been identified as having, at least, 12 "mistakes" happen in the last twelve months is high on my list of suspects. This whole industry is reliant on trust, and dealing with people/families when they are at their most vulnerable. I think they have been well aware of what has happened (after the "mistake") with Julie, but are obviously covering their arses (as we spell it here in Australia). Someone took the wrong body at the wrong time and did the wrong thing with it. Many funerals (particularly here in Australia ) do not have open caskets: anyone could be in any of those caskets and you would never know. Sadly, my step father died on April 18th and then my Mum died on July 15th of this year. My stepfather was buried (his wish), and now my Mums' ashes (her wish was to be cremated) are to put in the grave with her husband (my step father). I hope they are putting the right people together. So, I think scenario C is the most likely, but we may never know.
    My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones and are grieving..... but particularly many of them who John identifies on his page through the cases, where they are unable to grieve properly due to the crazy, sad, horrible circumstances under which people go missing or die.
    cheers
    Carol

We have an alarm code that is changed pretty often and the keys can'r be duplicated. Removal people aren't vetted too well at my company. Ive worked viewings in this exact situation (viewing in rental casket, by myself. I do shut it before I go, but our rental has no key/lock at all. Anyway, the removal people do work for 3 different store front crematorium.

That is a disgusting, cruel, disrespectful and just plain wrong thing to do. This is the 21st century and there are cameras everywhere and for safety reasons and awfully tragic situations such as this. How do you misplace a body? My heart goes out to both families and when you are dealing with such a delicate situation, the utmost respect and care needs to be taken.

    First, my heart goes out to Julie's family. I cannot imagine grieving a loved one and having to also bear the shock of her body being missing, and then compound all of that with very bizarre behaviour and finger pointing from someone else. It seems like it would interfere with just being able to remember your loved one fondly.
    The question that came to mind for me was whether or not Bill knew someone who worked at that affiliated company.
    The brier being in an odd place with (possibly) Julie's hair on it makes me think that her body was stolen, and not some simpler explanation.
    While I am a casual observer and have no business 'diagnosing', I had a narcissist in my life at one time and he would do these odd, blatant lies, but I don't think that he was aware of them as lies. He would double (or triple) down if his untruths were pointed out to him, and would become extremely angry. Bill claiming that he gave Julie the ring really reminded me of that. Her mom was smart not to correct him at the time.

    That ex sounds like a male Shirley Turner. His employment history shows he's never remained at one place for more than a year and he's had multiple home addresses in one city alone. He posted a photo of himself handling a rifle in what looks like a hunting blind to his facebook and deleted it when asked about it by a news site. If a small local PD cannot get cadaver dogs from a larger agency that has them they'll commonly rely on volunteer dog handlers who train them on their own and the cadaver dog business is becoming a growing market. And law enforcement is beginning to rely more and more on independent handlers. The only way a volunteer handler can provide reliable dogs is if they've been involved in several searches. The less experience they have their dogs will not be that reliable. I'd question where the local police got their dogs in this case.
