Just an fyi. On poinsettias, the flowers are actually the little yellow center element. The red leaves are bracts and are just modified leaves that have matured from being green. Your cookies look wonderful. Years ago, my mother made a wedding cake with poinsettias. It was a true challenge. Thanks for sharing these fun clips.
These seem so ridiculously easy and yet they come out SO beautiful! You only need one piping tip, no fussy royal icing, and a standard snowflake cutter that most likely everyone has already. And they look professionally done. I'm definitely gonna try these next Christmas!
I made these cookies last year. The sugar cookie recipe is the best. They turned out pretty good. I think I made them too big, though. Going to do it again this year. They were delicious and beautiful.
Thank you so, so, SO much for this video!!! I made these cookies for my Christmas party yesterday, and they were a hit! People almost didn't eat them because they were so pretty... ALMOST being the key word ;P But seriously, thank you- I've done very little frosting decoration before, but these instructions were so easy to follow and worked like a charm. I had trouble convincing people I made them! You rock!!! Thanks, and happy holidays!!! :D
I really love your recipe's. Thank you very much. Much easier and more detailed than some of the old family Legacy Recipes I'm using for Christmas. The Sugar Cookies and Frosting used from this recipe were both a little "brittle" when biting into them today after making them last night. Not quite as "soft" as Mom's was many, many years ago. Any suggestions for next time? I've inserted a slice of bread to add a little moisture while I'm storing this batch in a sealed container. Thanks again!!!
If you want the frosting to stay soft, use shortening instead of butter. Back in the day women used oleo which never hardened but the closest thing we have now to that is Crisco. As for the cookies, try using the recipe from my Lofthouse style sugar cookies video which are softer than these cookies. The recipe uses sour cream to keep the cookies soft instead of hard like most other cutout sugar cookie recipes. Hope that helps.
Elvis66 They dry but not hard like royal icing. If you're looking for the kind of icing that hardens hard and what is normally on sugar cookies, see: ruclips.net/video/fjl4KlzTCvc/видео.html
***** It seems to center around church and school or at least the ones around here. As a kid, it was always my grandma's bridge club! LOL!! If you can find one, definitely join as it's a great way to try out all kinds of new goodies!
How do you store these? And when you want to plate them for entertaining or package them for gifts, don't they stick to each other and make a mess? Please advise
#notsponsored hahaha loved that. This cookies look amazing, will deff add them to my cookie platters Im giving out on christmas, I do need to edit the list though, because so far I have 25 different cookie types, which is just a bit over top. LOOVE your videos, always a treat to see them in my feed.
You make it look so easy..I wish you would slow down and start by showing how to insert the tip in the bag...what size bag..can it be done with a smaller tip..guess I'm not too bright because after several tries..I fail...and I just love the look of your cookies ..
I made these but I couldn't get the leaves to end with a point, I kind of broke them off. Wish I could do better, but they still looked nice. I'm going to try a different leaf tip next time.
This is interesting. My grandma did something like this but instead of frosting for the cookie, she made the whole thing out of cookies then baked them ahaha
My only practice was on these cookies. The piping tip does all the work. All you have to do is supply the pressure for the frosting to come out and the movement. Try a few passes out on some extra cookies or on waxed paper and after you do 1, you'll be able to do all of them. Really, not hard at all. The only thing stopping anyone is the thought they can't. ;-)
19Julianne86 Similar but not the same. Using a small tip like the 67 will make cookies maybe 2" across. Any larger than that and the leaves will be far too skinny and long to look right. If you're wanting to use a small tip, the smallest that would look okay would be the 69 or 70. Hope that helps.
They look Great !!! I am going to be using your sugar cookie recipe AGAIN this year as it worked out so well for me last year. =) & I LOVE how you give the reasons WHY of whatever .. example .. better to make red pink 1st ... & you do NOT leave us hanging and wanting to google the reason for that statement, you TELL US the reason why. =) & That is a GREAT TIP .. Thank you ... if you look through my videos the Santa Belly sugar cookies where a pain in the ---- trying to get it that deep red I needed for his suit, so this is nice to know. Just to let you know ... 2 of your videos that I have pinned to my Pinterest boards have been 2 of my most re-pinned by others pins. =) Your Yo-Yo Lollipop Christmas Ornament video & the other one is the one of the Flooding cookies with Royal Icing ( the blue stars ? ) So you are a hit on Pinterest too !! Just thought that might put a smile on your face. =) ~ Wendy
Tresisme1 Thank you Wendy! Glad the cookies are working out well for you. That recipe is the only one I use and has been for a long time now. I love how it's so easy to work with! And such a simple recipe too. And thanks for pinning to your pinterest! Every little bit helps! Hope you're feeling well. :-)
If you have Wilton gel icing dye. Do not do the trick with pink icing. I told my roommate about the trick for our Christmas cookies and we could not get it to look red at all. Maybe it would work if we didn't have so much icing. But we used the rest of the red bottle and then had to use what we had in cheap red and still it was pastel red at best. I will say it looked more red the next day. But it just wasn't a cheery Christmas red. :(
I admire your patience cause surely i have none on making & baking cookies. These are beautiful.

They look wonderful Jason. So pretty! Hugs!
Beautiful!
Very nice
Jason, I have a question about the icing. Does this icing harden up a bit? What kind would you suggest for sugar cookies? Beautiful cookies!!
Elvis66 They dry but not hard like royal icing. If you're looking for the kind of icing that hardens hard and what is normally on sugar cookies, see: ruclips.net/video/fjl4KlzTCvc/видео.html
😱 OMG Beautiful!!!
These are gorgeous!! Ive always wanted to go to a cookie exchange, but living in a tiny town, Ive never heard of anyone having one :(
***** It seems to center around church and school or at least the ones around here. As a kid, it was always my grandma's bridge club! LOL!! If you can find one, definitely join as it's a great way to try out all kinds of new goodies!

Hi, Very nice. But we don't get vegetable shortening in India so what substitute for it. Plz tell I'm desperate to make them
Annette/Anita D you can use solid coconut oil. Look for vegan buttercream recipes.
Lovely treats!

I'm making these for Christmas, but where do I go to get the piping bag? A cooking store, or just Wal Mart ... ?
WalMart sells them with the candy and cake making stuff or you can use a plastic sandwich or freezer bag as well. The latter being much cheaper.
Crouton Crackerjacks
Going there tomorrow, thanks much.
This is interesting. My grandma did something like this but instead of frosting for the cookie, she made the whole thing out of cookies then baked them ahaha
So pretty!...but WAY too much icing. I wouldn't be able to eat it🙁
So cool ;-)
Wow! Those are really cute! Did it take a lot of practice to do this? I asked cuz I bet you if I try this, it will come out totally different. Lol
My only practice was on these cookies. The piping tip does all the work. All you have to do is supply the pressure for the frosting to come out and the movement. Try a few passes out on some extra cookies or on waxed paper and after you do 1, you'll be able to do all of them. Really, not hard at all. That is true! Thanks!
The elf hates poinsettias but loves cookies. May I use Wilton tip number 67 and get the same results?
19Julianne86 Similar but not the same. Using a small tip like the 67 will make cookies maybe 2" across. Any larger than that and the leaves will be far too skinny and long to look right. If you're wanting to use a small tip, the smallest that would look okay would be the 69 or 70. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the pink red tip. I hate the taste of red food coloring!
The elf hates poinsettias but loves cookies
Where can I get your sugar cookie recipe?
They make a flavorless red food color.
Ciao vorrei poterlo rifare mi puoi dare le dosi in italiano grazie mille
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘
Can you make Pizza
Thank you. All I have is a 67 and 68. Ugh.
Where is the receipt.
These are awesome, but truly for show - no way you can be eating all that icing.
Love your work. The music is a bit annoying because it just repeats a few bars over and over. Can you ditch it and just have your wonderful voice? :-)
