Fold the tape and make a crease before you remove the lining. Unfold it, remove the lining, and it will be much easier to refold with your desired crease.
Nice, very impressed with the un-pealing, good clean edge. Thanks for the upload, I'm just about to try my first river table and was worried about sealing the edges.
Thnx for the idea! Ive been wanting to make a “wall” on a piece of glass so i can pour resin over it. The glass is kinda thin compared to the wooden block, but Il try something close to this :)
No problem! Don’t try it on a thin piece of glass, it will most likely end up cracking around the edges. I’ve had success with thicker pieces of glass and thicker pieces of plexiglass. Good luck!
demi sy If you are going to frame,....leave the frame in place. Or you could place the glass on top of a box,..such as demonstrated just to use the box for support.
Hello , I made a bowl joining round pieces of a type of clay and holes remained in the joints, I want to cover it with resin inside out, but I don't know what to use to cover one side (while I'm pouring the resin let's said outside of the bowl) , so the resin doesn't come out through the holes, I can find that tape in my country, but maybe I can use Foil? To cover the inside? Do you know if this would make the resin not to get stuck or what materials can I use to mask the parts I don't want to get resin? Thank you so much
Thank you very much, this is very helpful. Can you please suggest what to do if the edges are little raised where the touch the wall? Mine came out raised and really scared to touch it as rest of the finish is just perfect. Thanks again x
J.B. Eid Hi there! Sorry for the late response. Have you tried this yet? As long as the table is completely level, you shouldn’t have any issues using this same technique that I did in the video :)
Laura’s Art Corner Laura Usher Hi there! Aww I’m so sorry. Yeah life kind of got in the way so I stopped doing videos. BUT I’m starting to get back into it now. Maybe one day I’ll start it up again :) Thanks for reaching out.
Hi I’m sorry to say I tried this and my resin stuck to it , now I have loads of bits of tape stuck to my canvas , any ideas how to remove it or prevent it from happening in the first place ?
Feel free to use a canvas, just make sure it is supported & level you can also use masking tape & card board or the damn tape they literally make and sell just for this purpose... card board masking tape is way cheaper, and you probably already have some of that packing tape works fine too.
Cupcake Cottage Studio she didn’t fold the bottom edge up: she adhered the bottom edge to the board, and then folded the tape around it... easy enough to confuse 🤷🏻♀️ ✌️
i have a question: if you do this can you do multiple layers of resin without taking of the tape, or do you aply a new tape every layer, and after you have sanded, the resin will be foggy and not glossy how do you get the gloss back ? sorry if im asking to much
Caroohlien I know this was asked some time ago, but in case anyone is wondering... Yes, you can do multiple layers without removing the dam; as long as the tape is high enough to comfortably fit your additional layers, it can be used pretty much as a regular mold. It’s important to remember to add additional layers while the previously poured resin is still tacky, otherwise you *_will_* need to remove the dam so that the previous layer can be sanded before adding another. 👌 As far as getting a glossy finish after sanding, there are a few ways to go about this. Some of the most common methods involve continuing to sand and polish by using a finer and finer grit, then buff using a polishing compound, etc until your piece is shiny again. ...Personally, I prefer to skip all of that extra labour and just use a gloss finishing product, (of course, satin or matte work too) there are tons of options for a nice shiny finish, anything from a glaze or varnish, (even clear nail polish works in a pinch!) to spray sealants and of course: just use another layer of your resin! (These last 2 are my fav methods, easy peazy and cost is measly.
I seem to be missing something. It looks as though you are folding the metal tape from the top AND the bottom and therefore COVERING the "sticky part" or am I just losing my eyesight?
I do not suggest that anyone use this tape. I listened to this video and ran out to buy this tape. I had pure hell getting this damn tape off of my project. I would try another method. Smh.
I use blue painter's tape from the dollar store. n I dont fold anything over. just apply it all around the edge. n peel off jus fine. it's way cheaper
Sealing the gap - excellent advice; I usually forget this step
BEAUTIFULLY DONE! And exactly how I do it! I'm sending all of my subscribers to you for dam building.
Love it! I'm going to try on non-linear molds! The method is solid!
I would love to see a video on how you sand and polish the edges of this piece..
Fold the tape and make a crease before you remove the lining. Unfold it, remove the lining, and it will be much easier to refold with your desired crease.
I came to RUclips for this thank u
Thank you, I love your OCD, it works for me!!
Great tip & walkthrough!
This is exactly what I've been looking for, thank you!
this was perfect and exactly answered the qiestion that has put me off completing a project for x2 years 🤣

I just would like to thank you for this informational video! Good job!
Nice technique!
Curious, have you tried this on a glass edge? And thank you, I love how you explain things.
Thanks for the great video
Holy crap...you are so patient. I completely freak out and end up with wasted mangled tape.
Great video!
Thank you for the great video. It was just what I was looking for!
Excellent video. Thank you so much.
Thanks great information, good video!
This was a great video. Very informative.
Nice. Could you show us how you would go about for round coasters?
Does your technique eliminate a raised epoxy on the edges?
Can you still get a beveled edge? Like maybe if I resined after doing the flood coat?

very helpful; thank you
Very detailed an helpful. Great job.
How did you sand the resin edges to make the
m smooth ?
I am doing a table. It’s 24x48 inches. Can I use this method to prevent material loss over the edge of the table?
Could I use this technique on a glass cutting board?
Great video, thank you!
Hello!! What would suggest for a canvas? Thanks
Thnx for the idea!

Thanks again x
Did you ever find a solution?
Thank you💜
I'm considering daming the edge of a table 40x30 inches with metal tape to level w resin. Probably 1/4 inch max resin depth. Thoughts?
J.B. Eid Hi there! Sorry for the late response. Have you tried this yet? As long as the table is completely level, you shouldn’t have any issues using this same technique that I did in the video :)
Thank u soooo much
Where are you? I used to watch you all the time. Are you not doing resin anymore? Miss you.

PourHouse Art well I hope to see you soon 😀

I’m confused. You folded the top edge down and then folded the bottom edge up so how does the tape stick to the wood?

Hey, why is it not a good idea to use this method on a canvas?
Thank tou
*You!

She flipped the thing so it looks like she is doing both but the top part just became the lower part because she turned it around.
