    This was the perfect tutorial for me. I have 20 pieces to resin and was literally scared to death to get started. You two are my new art heroes! All of my work is being donated to raise funds for our local Humane Society and I wanted beautiful finishes on them. Thanks again for making a video that is easy to follow (each step) and leaves nothing out.

      @@MasseArtStudio Hello, I am using "Let's Resin" brand, and it also has a 1 to 1 ratio mixing, will this calculator also work for that brand? Also, it says you needed 9 ounces in total product, and you mentioned you needed 4oz hardener, and 4 oz resin.....that would equal to 8oz not 9oz? Just wanting to make sure I understand, because it says for my size canvas that I need 7oz.....thank you for the reply!

Also because of cold climate,I let resin bottle warm up in a warm water bath before pouring it. Hello Lee & Jeremy, I’ve been doing resin on canvases and ceramic tiles for coasters. What Ive noticed sometimes on the acrylic painted ceramic tiles…. is that when I pour resin on the tile the resin will kind off divert around a small section of tile. When I see this happening i will push more resin over to fill in that exposed section of tile. Sometimes i need to do this 4-5 times. I wipe down my tiles before I start. Why does this happen?

      Thank you so much for all this info. I have only been paint pouring for about 3 weeks and decided I wanted to resin the coasters I have been painting. When we did the first couple of coasters and paintings the resin has been pulling back towards the centre. I am going to get some of the isopropyl alcohol and clean them down before each time I resin. Also seeing how to repair the previous ones that have pulled in along the top edge of the sides. You have definitely given me some hope back and encouragement to carry on. My husband and myself were feeling so deflated over this issue, but tomorrow we will tackle the repairs first then carry on with the rest. 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩❣️❣️❣️

    Hi, my loves. Yes, I'm going to be one of THOSE people. Art Resin is a by volume resin, meaning you should not be measuring by weight. The hardner is heavier than the resin and therefore would measure as less volume resulting in unequal parts. Whew, that was a mouthful! I would imagine that in smaller quantities it doesn't make THAT much difference, but it can cause the resin to not cure correctly. OK, I'll step down from my soapbox now. Great video, very informative and as always, lots of fun. Love to both of my boys, xoxoxoxoox.

      Hey love. You are absolutely right. But you are right again when you say that because of the small quantities it doesn’t make any difference. For the tens of paintings I have out resin on with this product not one has failed. 😊 But it is a good point none the less.

    Hi Guys it is great that you have gone through this process for people wanting to do their own resin, or to help anyone with issues. However, there is one very important aspect with the mixing of the resin in particular the ratio component that is not quite correct. It is why some artist use 2 cups to measure the fluid amount instead of weight. The actual ratio mix for art resin and mainly others (check manufacturers instruction) is a 1:1 part ratio ( some are 2:1). This ratio recommendation is based on Fluid volume and not a percentage or weight proportion ratio. As you are aware a 2 part resin mix there is alway one part that is thicker (higher density) than the other part. What happens when you mix by weight is you will have more fluid ounce or grams of the runnier part in your cup than the thicker part. This means you are not using a 1:1 fluid vol ratio. What should happen is you empty both bottles of the resin at the time. However if you mix on your scale by weight your bottle of the runnier part will empty first as you will be using more. Whilst some brands of resin can handle this small measurement error, some do not plus you will have leftover of one part. Also when you use a 2:1 part ratio the measurement error can have issues in curing. I learned this the hard way when I had issues and was using scales and weights to measure. I also had many frustrated conversations with manufacturers until we identified the problem of not using a fluid ratio measurement. Which means you use a fluid measuring cup to measure your equal parts preferably in 2 separate cup as they should be as exact as possible. This comment is only meant to help you. I have watched you from your beginning and know you are always eager to learn and get tips in your journey. Regards

    • @MasseArtStudio
      @MasseArtStudio  2 года назад

      You are so correct. But, being that we are using such small quantities of resin mixing it 1:1 ratio has never impacted the finished product. As Lee said though you should always follow the manufacturers instructions that come with the resin.

    You mix much faster than others I’ve seen. That is why I shy away from resin. Mixing is different from resin to resin and artist to artist. You do make it look doable, though. Thanks for a great, thorough tutorial.

    Lee and Jeremy. This was a great video. I am sure it helped everyone who watched it. I too needed help. I couldn’t find Art resin at the time and totally ruined a large painting as it became incredibly sticky and didn’t cure..I had bought the resin from my local hardware store but it wasn’t suitable for art. Thank you so much for making it easy to understand and emulate. Cheers Marie ‘downunder’ 💖

    Thank you so much for your fabulous video. At 74 years young, I recently came across this art form and was enchanted immediately. I have to do it! It calls to me. Have however been concerned about the toxicity of resin. As well as being in the later bloom of my life, I am chemically sensitive. So grateful for a fabulous product and even more fabulous teachers.🏳‍🌈🦄🌈

    Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorial.. I was really wanting to have a go at using resin.. but once you mentioned about the safety side of it I have decided not to try coz I have a respiratory illness(since birth so it ain't gonna go away)and as I only have a small flat ,lounge and kitchen are together so have no way of getting away from the toxins, I'd also be worried about my cat breathing it in too..but I'm so grateful for the caution and glad I've not wasted money on purchasing any of it... your artwork is totally awesome, I'd be more than happy if mine was at least half as good as yours..
    Your videos are so fun and informative..thank you so very much x
