It’s an eclipse. The sky comes to life again and brings so much joy. This is a piece that you could watch and never see the same thing twice. Well done.
My 95 year old Mother asked me what I was looking at. I told her an artist that I'm learning techniques from. She wanted to see!! After looking at your finished art piece, she committed that if it was on her wall, she would be wondering all the time what was in that black hole!!!!!!!! I told her it was an up close view of an eye ball. The black hole your looking in someone's Soul. Oh, Wow!! MOM EXCLAIMED!!
Awesome answer I’m definitely doing one in blue for my house since we all have blue eyes. Update: watched video with my granddaughter (6 and on the spectrum) then read her this comment she then said “it’s so beautiful and You will be able to watch me at my house when we make one, this man is magical.” It’s so wonderful how the little things astonish people of ALL ages.
I just thought it was absolutely stunning, and I'm going to try it out. I was screaming at you to stop an not do that area but your final touches made all the difference an created amazing detail. An that's why you are the professional. ❤
This makes me think of a birth of something new like a new star was born. Its so soothing to hear you explain everything and how you feel while doing these pieces. Love this one!!
This makes me think about natural shapes in our environment like someone's eye and their soul and oddly very familiar to my senses like maybe someone eye but even than that. Like someone's eye that I know and see everyday. Love it.
This is a stunning piece! You have helped me to realize that I can slow down my process instead of almost rushing my work. I love painting, but since I have started taking more time, I am finding a new level of enjoyment through the process. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent and knowledge.
Me too! I would usually feel rushed when I first started, but I realized when I slowed down a bit, my pieces turned out much more beautiful, and my stress level was lowered even more!
If you are looking up close at just the middle I still get gerbera daisy, but when you pull back and look at the whole canvas I get either Star Trek wormhole or a hole in a piece of glass. I love it
Mark, I absolutely adore this piece! It took my breath away seeing all the colors blended so beautifully and what I see in your painting is a gorgeous sunrise or that twilight time right before you wake up. I can’t wait to try this technique myself. But when I do, I will certainly show it to you. I want to make you proud Mark! :-) You have taught me so much in techniques, but most importantly, and how I approach my art. When I first started following you, you would always remind us of being mindful and in the moment when we are creating art. That has stuck with me for over a year now, and I thank you for your kindness, your mindfulness, your extraordinary abilities as an artist, and in the end, you seem like such a great person!!! Thank you for teaching me and making me a better artist. 💜👏👏👏
Wow!!! Susan….. thank you so much!!! This comment is everything to me. Your kind words of encouragement and support mean a lot. Thank you so so much. You’ve made my day 😊😊😊😊

I think a shot of heat gun woulda made it more dynamic. I like that wet and dry were shown, but I would’ve enjoyed seeing the final with the varnish, too.
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Thank you. Thank you for being so kind and inspiring. God bless. 🙏🏼❤️😊
What an amazing painting ❤️ To me, the black negative space represents the darker times in mental health and the colours in a circle good thoughts that are bursting out to represent the good time's in our mental health
It gives tbe effect that the painting is "looking" at me..like the inside or close up of someones eye...having a deeper look into life itself. Very beautiful, and a very unique piece
Stunning and beautiful as always.making something like this using my granddaughters hand. Debating on the black background or white. She has changed her mind about the colors numberous times. Yellows, pinks and greens so we shall see.
I love this! What a simple, yet beautiful piece. I’m not sure if you have done any others of these if so, I would love to see them. I think a combo of reds and purples, maybe every other being an iridescent, for that added shine….or maybe all pearl shades of purples and reds. 🤔 Just some thoughts. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. It is much appreciated! 😊
When I look at this painting, all I can see is an eye. Extremely simple technique, but most things that appear to be easy seldom are. This is beautiful work. Much respect 🙏 🫡.

At least, some clear explanations that one can understand and follow ! Thank you a thousand times for this demonstration that brought me the peace I needed so much !!!
Very nice. At first I saw a sun, then a eye then a sunflowerish shape. But what it reminds me of is if you were lying on your back camping looking up in the nights sky with trees surrounding you with a camp fire reflection... pretty cool
I see an exploding star out in deep space. There is the kind of firecracker exploding about It too. It also reminds me of the centre of an amber eye. Natural and very organic. Those are what.I see. One thing I love about this piece of art is the almost total lack of waste paint. Dutch pours and swipes are great and all but just waste so much useable paint. So kudos for that. Great piece tpo, very Eye of Sauron!
