In the 70s it was The Shag. In 80s beauty schools it was the 7 Stage Layer cut. It has been around forever. There's nothing new about this cut but the name.

@@relikelectrik795 mullets are different than a shag. The mullet is short in front and long in back, while the shag is short all over the top, but longer than a mullet would be.

When i was in my early 20s, I used to get my hair cut like this all the time. It suits my thick wavy hair perfectly. Now that I’m older, I have tried repeatedly to get stylists to cut my hair like this and I ALWAYS end up with some stupid layered bob where all the weight is at the bottom and the face framing layers are muddied. I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to politely ask them to watch this video and cut my hair exactly like this without pissing them off and getting something completely the opposite. If it’s done right, my hair is so easy to style on my own. If it’s done poorly, I end up with no lift at the crown and a bunch of heavy hair at the bottom. You’d think stylists that have spent years learning how to cut hair would understand this cut. But I haven’t found one that knows how to do it in the last 10 years.
That must be frustrating.
I followed Brad Mondo's tutorial (precisely!) and cut my own hair. It's exactly right, and all it cost was an inexpensive pair of haircutting scissors and thinning shears...less than $20.
If I'm honest. I did go to a hairdresser's and they ended up giving me a tamed down version of it, so when I arrived home I immediately grabbed my trusty shears and started cutting myself lmao.
Sometimes if you want something done right you just gotta do it yourself. Time to focus and get that thing done!😈

I have this cut and it's so much fun. I'm having the most fun I've had with my hair in a long time. I love curling it and making it look big, fluffy and messy. I have a lot of hair but it's fine and straight and this cut is the bomb for volume if you have such type of hair!

@@marlom.5081 I used two mirrors facing each other so I could see what I was doing. Always sitting straight and not crossing my legs. I section my hair following the video then cut at a angle.
Also, the fact that my hair is wavy to curly allows for more fuck-up because it will blend anyway, so be careful if you have strait to wavy hair.
