Dang that thing is a beast. I love a big, chunkster AR-10 style rifle that looks like it's meant for taking out either an Alien or Predator critter. The SCAR is out of my price range so I'm piecing together an AR-10 in 6.5 CM using Wilson Combat Super Sniper parts. 24" SS fluted barrel, matching billet upper and lower, 16.25" Mlok handguard, WC nickel-boron coated BC assembly, WC upper and lower small parts kits, WC enhanced trigger unit and a Magpul PRS stock. I have a 20% veteran discount through them and it makes building such a thing quite affordable but with a high quality firearm. I urge any vet to take advantage of discounts available with MANY companies that make firearms and parts in order to have whatever you want in what may now be the golden age of firearms. I'm in awe of all the cool, useful high quality pistols and rifles available now that were but a pipe dream when I was a kid back in the 70s. I hope you all have a great holiday and for Mike; hang in there man I've been there.
If you haven't bought any of the parts, I would reconsider using Wilson Combat. They make good handguns, but they're AR parts are not good. Especially large frame ARs. They don't know how to correctly gas large frame ARs and they use proprietary gas tubes which I find rather annoying. Overall, I would never recommend them to anyone.

Scar had 2 things going for it: 1) folding stock, 2) adjustable gas block. The flow through / low back pressure suppressors have eliminated the need for adjustable gas blocks, so now the only reason to get a Scar is the folding stock.

02:53 To elaborate, this was transferred to his local Subaru dealership where Mike was having his Outback serviced the same day. Car dealerships are FFLs now.
Love the SCAR 20. My friend had one in 308 that was incredibly accurate and consistent. He decided to stick with one in 6.5 Creedmoor though. Unfortunately, he didn't get through one magazine after driving hours to a long distance range to shoot it. Had to send it back to FN under warranty. Got it back and we took it out again. It was very picky with certain ammo types. Even the ammo it did like, it would still have stoppages here and there. We tried different magazines to try and narrow down the issue. It's a very cool gun if it functioned reliably. I think the 308 is the way to go until they fix the 6.5. If you find an early production one with the slower twist rate and a reciprocating charging handle, jump on it! They're hard to find now. It's amazing to smack steel at 600 and 800yd over and over with M80. The 6.5 I was able to hit a steel plate at 1,000yd with the 60rd of Hornady ELD Match I brought on the trip so I was happy with it.
I had the opportunity to use the 20S during my tour of service at Al Mazrah against insurgent forces during late 2022 until mid 2023. Loved the rifle. Although it was kinda of a bother to carry a "long" rifle under the scorching sun or the chilling wind during night time, this rifle served me very well. Me and some from my unit where blessed to get the 6.5 versions of it. Followed up shots from 350m were very manageable. Even with a supressor on, under closer range engagements our opposition knew marksmens were present, but we had fire support from or squad infantrymen and land vehicles. Later on in 2023, when Vondel in Netherland had that debacle with some Eastern Europe PMC group, due to the CQC of the local environment, we just switched to our M4 carbines to get EMR and civilians out of harms way along with our sorry asses
I sold a 1998/99 mfg PSS to a salty Natguard SF guy. He said he liked the idea of a chrome molly barrel even if maybe not as accurate as the 7005r that had stainless steel. That PSS was consistently .5 moa with blackhills 175gr match from late 90s early 2000s so that CM barrel was no sluch and this was just before Remington quality took a major dive in the early 2000s, so that PSS was the best of booth worlds, plenty accurate enough and long life barrel. Only downside was 26” is stupid for 308, though makes sense for 300win which was an option back then.
Those camera shots catching the rounds hitting the target are the best I've ever seen EVER, on this channel, compared to any other gun channel, like holy shit that looked AMAZING, you can see the sonic ring around the bullet as well as the curve of the bullet's volley as it drops when soaring into the target, that's so crazy and unreal X3
this is probably the most interesting scar i've seen in a while, dont get me wrong i respect the SCAR's legacy but i often feel it gets over hyped or pushed in modern shooter games a lot. This one though i'd be interested in actually collecting one day as i am a fan of sniper rifles.
I’m really not sure how it’s overhyped, I’d argue it’s overhated. It’s almost 20yrs old but there’s no modern equivalent when it comes it’s combination of being lightweight, soft shooting, extremely accurate, extremely durable (SCAR receivers have been documented to outlast every other small arms weapon system on the planet… including the AK & HKs), and extremely reliable. The Spear is less than 5 years old yet it’s substantially heavier with (somehow) way more recoil, less reliable, and comically less durable.
Bought one in 2021 (308 variant with the newer 1:10 twist barrel) and it’s been fantastic. Very accurate, extremely reliable (never had a malfunction with it and it chews through all ammo I’ve run from LC surplus to 175g SMKs from the big brands to even a few AP rounds from the 1970s) and to be brutally honest, it’s a lot of fun to shoot! Lastly, she’s a looker and has some pretty phenomenal heritage to boot. Buy it. You can’t go wrong imho 👍
Battlefield 4 vibes Scar-H carabine on engineer was my favorite Was able to send headshots to half of the map and still have rockets for pesky helicopters
Fr I- like lots of other ppl kinda felt off-put after the whole family man preaching and then the drama. That being said Im Loving the old school flannel daddy videos these videos always felt way better and unique than his more demo ranch styled videos
2:18 lol I’m just picturing a marketing executive watching this and being completely defeated after hearing the unofficial slogan “Nightvision Network: the only N-word you can say.”
Wouldn’t chopping the barrel affect the twist rate. Typically twist rate is determined by barrel length to get the right amount of rotations of the bullet prior to leaving the barrel to get the optimal stabilization. 20” AR 1:9 two rotations. 14.5 1:7 two rations and so on
No, and you are misunderstanding twist rates. The 1:7 twist rate isn't due to barrel length, it's because that rotational energy on the heavier cartridges produces better stabilization. The 1:9 does better on lighter cartidges. The barrel length does not affect the rotational energy imparted by the rifling in any meaningful way.
@ yes that I understand. What I’m saying is manufactures determine how much stabilization is needed for a particular projectile including its weight. If it’s a 1:10 but your barrel is 6” rather than let’s say 24” than it was intended that projectile doesn’t get the rotational force needed to stabilize it. Just like when people cut down barrels to make krinks but they end up keyholing. If you may notice some manufacturers have begun speeding up the twist rates on short barrels to a 1:5 on the 5.56. I understand the weight of the barrel determines twist but if you cut the barrel by 30% you have essentially changed the twist. That’s why a 16” AR with a 1:7 is more accurate than a 10.3” with a 1:7. It’s not velocity it’s just math. Certain cartridges work ideal with certain barrel lengths. Not saying you can’t do it and that it will make a massive impact but if you’re cutting down of a barrel on a precision rifle you’re probably going to open those groups up
I have a custom Nemo Arms Watchmen and find it hard to replace it. It. Shoots lights out and 300 win mag with a 14 round magazine is a lot of fire power.
I remember the first time I shot my 11.5 DD and how it put all my self-built rifles I had made over the years to shake in my first grouping. My favorite AR I own
I used this exact gun in Afghanistan at night. We ran a luepold though as I’m sure most teams do. I loved it. Hard to judge distance with the thermal optic at night but really neat weapon.
0:58 the gun for me was the short persian mouser (a normal kar-98k with different sight protectors and shorter barrel than the normal carabine version), I have shot things like AMKs, VZ-58s, SKSs, G3s and AR-15s but nothing has the accuracy and the power of that 8mm mouser round with the great iron sights
My first handgun was a Glock. I didn’t shoot a single action pistol for about the first six years. When I first shot a single action handgun I was surprised how it was just a smidge easier to make pin point accurate shots. Quarter size hole at 15 yards type shots
I semi-accidentally got a Vector in .45, on a whim because the range had one on sale. It 100% was an impulse buy but i honestly love it. It also has that cyberpunk vibe with the M4 stock and extended "carbine" barrel, plus its entirely white. Feels straight out of Total Recall or Minority Report. Do i shoot better with it? Probably not, but its a hell of a lot of fun to shoot nonetheless.

Will you do a vid on the HK MR556A4?
yessir
@GarandThumb awesome
I was going to buy the FN scar 17 because i love ugg boots but i went with the FN m4 because i love how it looks and feels.
Could there be a comparison to the hk417? Also a rifle used bij SOFS over the world.
😂 I just love how it sounds lol but yes it definitely over hyped because of modern shooters
Battlefield 4 vibes
Scar-H carabine on engineer was my favorite
Was able to send headshots to half of the map and still have rockets for pesky helicopters
If I’m ever able to afford it, I’d love to have a SCAR-20 in 6.5CM
Just got one in 6.5. I was getting first round hits at 700 like it was nothing
Definitely like this format. Keep up the great work flannel daddy!
Fr I- like lots of other ppl kinda felt off-put after the whole family man preaching and then the drama.
That being said Im Loving the old school flannel daddy videos these videos always felt way better and unique than his more demo ranch styled videos
We need a video talking about the night vision clip-ons
Keep your chin up John!!!!
Also yall ever do a torture test on the CZ Scorpion or anything in the PCC rifles?
Glad to see you back in your roots and doing well despite the hardship! Keep it up, Mike! @garandthumb
Always a good day when garand daddy posts a new vid
daddy being the key word
Can you be a daddy without your family?
Being able to watch those rounds travel in the sunlight to the POI is 🔥
2:18 lol I’m just picturing a marketing executive watching this and being completely defeated after hearing the unofficial slogan “Nightvision Network: the only N-word you can say.”
Not saying you can’t do it and that it will make a massive impact but if you’re cutting down of a barrel on a precision rifle you’re probably going to open those groups up
Why wasn’t the specific CAT suppressor mentioned?
It looks like Christmas came early this year cause the videos are back to the OG style 🙌
I have a custom Nemo Arms Watchmen and find it hard to replace it. It. Shoots lights out and 300 win mag with a 14 round magazine is a lot of fire power.
How do you like the Nemo? Been thinking of getting their bare bones .300WM rifle.
It's a high quality gun with great accuracy
I remember the first time I shot my 11.5 DD and how it put all my self-built rifles I had made over the years to shake in my first grouping. My favorite AR I own
Keep your chin up John!!
He has combined the good elements of both modernity and tradition.
That's a big weapon you've got there.
6.5 is just average.
It must be hard being John knowing he's himothy, but maintaining his humble demeanor.
Just made a payment on a Scar16s yesterday can’t wait to get it in 2 weeks.
Hope you love it. Do yourself a favor and get the Geiselle Super Scar Trigger. Really upgrades the gun
That’s gotta be a great feeling.
Patience pays 🤑
I used this exact gun in Afghanistan at night. We ran a luepold though as I’m sure most teams do. I loved it. Hard to judge distance with the thermal optic at night but really neat weapon.
I wonder how the accuracy out of a SCAR 17 with a 20" barrel compares with a SCAR 20?
I to, have wondered this exact thing many times.
I love the complete breakdown. You're going back to your roots.
My SCAR 17 is my favorite rifle.
BRO, you know we love you. If I wasn't broke right now I'd head to the range with you, im also here in Idaho!
"A gun that makes you a better shooter" you ask? In a word, Staccato. 'Nuff said.
Came to Show some love! Keep on keeping on GT!
Not a Keeper it seems 😬
My first handgun was a Glock. I didn’t shoot a single action pistol for about the first six years. When I first shot a single action handgun I was surprised how it was just a smidge easier to make pin point accurate shots. Quarter size hole at 15 yards type shots
This was awesome. Give us a video on the SP10M pls
0:53 yes! Canik tp9sfx with a holosun dot, ive never felt so confident with a handgun.
God I wish I was a citizen of America 🇺🇸
Absolute respect to the Patriots
We need more citizens with your type of attitude!
ain no way
@@SecondaryHaha hes doin back flips on it
🇺🇲
I love actually being able to watch the bullet travel out there. So satisfying.
Last time I was this early, I became a Dad.
Congrats
Just don't follow in steps of Garand and leave your kids and wife
@4:01 It's nice to see they convinced Fulton from the Mighty Ducks to make a guest appearance lol
Is the warranty voided with a suppressor on it?
Yes
Yes and no, if the damage is due to the supressor then yes, but just using a supressor doesn't automatically void the warranty.
It’s not the best sniper, but I was getting kills from across Loot Lake with the Scar.
I ran junk junction!😂
