Round table overhead lighting can be tough! Great solution you have there! Now we need an even bigger dome to hit the market!
Yeah, it definitely gets the job done but a bigger dome would be awesome! Thanks for watching the video bro!!!
cool breakdown, thanks! would be interesting to see final result // any hiccups along the way for this. with 4 or more people, it's easy to get some odd hotspots/shadows that can be cumbersome to deal with.
Was about to comment about safety chain! Glad you mentioned it should be used.
A 4.5” grip head bites the menace arm ear a lot better than a 2.5” btw.
I’ve done a 1200d menace arm before, but most menace arms should be a 2 person job. Hope you get an assistant or something on this shoot.
For solo work, I use an Avenger junior boom arm on a combo. 20lbs counterweight bolted on and can ratchet strap down to the stand if needed. Might be something to look into having on the van. Comes in clutch a lot. Great vid!
Thanks for the tip on the grip head. I definitely need to pick one up! I’ll check out the Avenger Boom Arm. That sounds awesome!
Good video man you're one of my favorite youtubers for this type of work 👏👏 I think depending on the table size and color at the actual shoot the bounced light from the table could also help give some lift to them and look a bit less dramatic too 👏
Thanks for watching! I definitely agree, that's a good call. A nice little bounce from the table would be perfect!
Thanks for the video. Booming overhead is one thing that scares me... a lot!!!
Yeah, it's definitely a challenge! I usually like having someone help me with the setup. Thanks for watching!
It's good practice to practice set ups before the shoot!
Yeah absolutely! I always like to do it for bigger shoots just to think through things a little bit more. Thanks for watching!
In one of my earlier vlogs, I boomed a 200x over talent with a lightweight impact boom stand. Now I look at it and can’t believe I did something so dangerous!
Awesome insight. Thanks for sharing this.
I hear ya! I lost track of how many stands have fallen over when I was first starting out. Luckily no one was ever hurt lol it’s all part of the learning process.
Man I love RUclips. This is awesome content and so valuable!
Glad to hear it! I appreciate it!
Great stuff. Only thing I would do different is use a lollipop instead of the C stand gobo
Absolutely!! I have been meaning to pick one up for the longest time. I always forget until I need a menace arm for a shoot. Thanks for watching!
@ thanks for sharing.
I have to do the mockup shoot like that. Both with the aputure 90 lantern and Godox F600Bi with a lantern. Planning it for long time already, but my living room is occupied 99% of the time :D.
And if someone has deep eye sockets you need to lit him/her anyway with additional light in the front. This might be challenging with 5 people :D.
Yeah I know what you mean!!! Luckily I filmed the video while my kids were at school. That’s always a challenge.
I’ll definitely have to add some fill light for sure!!
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for showing this. I have to do a podcast next month and I was wondering about using the large lantern for lighting with a menace arm in a small space. This came in clutch.
It's definitely a good way to light things up in a small space! Let me know how the podcast goes! Thanks for watching!!
I love your stuff! Thank you for sharing the menace arm! I try to stay away from the menace arm when I go solo. It scares me... lol.
Haha I get it! They can be a bit intimidating! I always prefer having someone help me with the setup. Thanks for watching!!
Have you ever used some kind of crossbar setup for this? Seems like a safe way to hang multiple lights if needed. I know it works for stage lighting, but it’s a bigger scale.
Yes for sure!! I have done a goal post for bigger shoots and it worked out great. My only hesitation for this project is the size of the room. I would usually like a pre light day to do a goal post setup but that’s not in the budget for this one. Thanks for watching!!!
@ that makes a lot of sense. I really love the look of this. I’m shooting a couple round table podcasts this week so this was helpful. Had no idea it was called a goal post, but I like it.
Joel. I see the Flex Stack Pack system in your garage.
Would the larger drawer/container units fit your 600/1200 Aputure Units and control modules? Seems like with a divider between it would do the trick.
Would love to make this investment as they look highly functional and mobile.
How's the noise from the fan? Is it a problem with your current setup?
have you a reference fort the big light stand ? thank you❤
Sure thing! This is the stand I’m using - amzn.to/3P0j680
@ sorry, I meant the reference of the telescopic arm that carries the lamp? thank you very much ❤️
@@JulienVerly Sure thing!! This is the kit I’m using. Fan noise from smallrig 220b pro is loud. I can hear it already here in Video. When you’re standing under the light. You will get problems later in the post with the sound.
Do you have a link to the Matthew's kid?
