    Great video. It brings me back to the good old days on RUclips, when people where just sharing their knowledge and experience without any additional stuff or trying to catch our attention - sell something. Thank you again.

    Appreciate your video Joel! Always great information and I've filmed a few of the people you have in your last video. Thanks for the great content and for sharing your knowledge with us. I just ordered the mini spotlight, do you know if they make additional gobos or if you can custom make them?

    Glad to see I'm not the only one doing the awkward semi-twerk shuffle in between the camera, the doorway and the key light. 😂 Honestly I would feel uneasy with all those flimsy light stands, since most talents tend to bump into something at least once. Luckily my jobs rarely include travel, so I can keep using the beefier setups. Still an impressively small collection of gear that you pieced together there!

    I love how you moved those blinds out of the way to show how ginormous your backyard is, such a flex 😆 j/k :) But seriously, I love these inflateable lights. I have been using six Ulanzi 20w and four Ulanzi 12w inflatables with travel light stands and it all fits in my backpack for travel. Crazy compared to just how impossible this would have been just a year or so ago 👍

    Love the ingenuity and lightweight setup. Couple cool things I got recently I recommend you look at are the lightbank mito air and the glow ezlock wing-like. Both great for light weight setups and packing like this. Love your video man!

    • @Filmgoblin
      @Filmgoblin 14 дней назад

      @ yeah the glow wing-like is an interesting umbrella as it has a arch shape more than a traditional round shape. Meaning you can angle it throw a light diffusion on it and Velcro or use small clips and you have a super light book light by attaching a cartellini and light just below on the stand

    Great video Joel, always love seeing ultra compact kits like this as they are so handy for plane travel or even running around a city doing interviews. I need to do an update video but I've actually been using the Zhuyin B300 and B200 lights and paired with an umbrella they can be a really compact set up, especially the B200. Both pack quite a punch.
    P.S have you ever been questioned about your backpack being that large as a secondary carry on bag? I've had a few arguments at airports with staff about the size of backpacks.

    Love it! I have a bad back and hauling C Stands around is killing me. I do wonder what f/stop and ISO you had to shoot at to get a good exposure. I am thinking of getting an m43 GH5 as a C Cam and am trying to avoid going over ISO 800 on it because m43 cameras do tend to be a bit noisy.

      I feel you! My camera settings on the FX3 in this video were - Native 800 ISO | F2.0 | Shutter 1/48 | ND 2 Stops | 24 fps. Thanks so much for watching!

  • @Pachiscruz2
    @Pachiscruz2 14 дней назад +1

    That DIY diffuser is so clever. You should patent it and make a deal with some of this companies like SmallRig that are making this collaborations with creators to market their ideas!
    I wonder how many Watts of output does the lights give? You used the Nd filter?

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  14 дней назад +1

      Thanks so much! That's a great idea. Would love to do a collaboration. The key light has about a 40w draw (20w each tube) Honestly, though it feels much brighter to me. Being able to expose for windows it felt more like a 200w almost.
      I was using about 2-3 stops on ND on the FX3
      Thanks so much for watching!

    2 Powerful COB on a Bag + 2 Inflatable LightBank would be more effective. But this is a nice kit.

    • @JoelGabrielsen
      @JoelGabrielsen  14 дней назад +1

      I agree! But you wouldn't be able to fit that into a carry on roller bag. two bowens light reflectors alone would take up the majority on the roller bag i'm using. You would need bigger light stands as well. So maybe 2-3 pelican cases. But I agree! I do love the LightBank modifiers. They are amazing!

    Dont wanna tell you what to do, but you have really interesting thoughts and solutions to problems I haven't seen a ton of videographer RUclipsrs have covered, the one thing that would make me appreciate your channel more is if you bumped up the production value. Just my two cents, nice work!

      I have a similar set up for travel and use the head from a SmallRig AD100 combined with in ifootage TC5 tripod which can fit in a carry on. Done a video about it. It's not the best tripod head in the world but surprisingly smooth for the price and size. Works nicely with the FX3. You could always leave the matte box at home and fit that in the bag instead if you were tight for space.
