Longgggg video here, but I really wanted to bring you along for the journey + try some new things with these videos. Make sure to let me know if you enjoy, happy Friday!!
whatsup bro. just tapped in to this channel yesterday, thisll be a big help for me. im curious, how long did it take you to film + edit + post all of this? one more question. where do you find the willpower to go out and and really learn and film yourself and to speak outloud? i find myself cringing, ts is harder than it looks
I am 77 years old from a photography background. I love your approach to the creative process. You are inspirational. I am just starting to make and learn film making. It is a joyful process. Thank you, for sharing.
You sharing all the doubts and struggles that you're going through as you set up the shots is super helpful and inspirational. Most RUclipsrs have been hiding the struggle and focusing on making it look easy which feels discouraging to watch. You helped me understand the type of effort and thought that goes into creating these amazing results. Respect bro, thank you!🙏🔥
Your casual teaching style is my favorite thing about your videos--this one especially. Feels low-pressure and encouraging. Love your enthusiasm for problem-solving and creative solutions.
Bro I've been watching you for years, and I think this might be my favorite video that you've ever made. Thank you so much for how much work you did here. It really helps a lot of us.
was super tired of everyone trying to make it look easy and just natural, but looking at you grinding show us on how much work is done on a lot of videos you just take for granted UK. super grateful to have known and seen your contents over the years. loving this new era! oh and ... "Just roll with it 🎥”
This is why I watch you. I could have watched another hour of this easily. Its easy to believe that someone like you is just a professional all the time and is doesn't have to go through trial and error. Another thing that helped me too is the fact that you didn't really enjoy the shot of you sitting on the hood of your car and that was honestly one of my favorites, just goes to show how everyone likes something different and that's the beauty of cinematography.
You're one of the FEW people I'll see a 10min+ video get posted and I still go to it without feeling like I'm going to sit through some nonsense. The work is dope as always
Love your style man. Been watching for an age. Love how you don’t rush and you seem to just be you. I’ve taken that lesson for my own stuff man. Cheers for that ❤
“Just roll with it” - You a mad scientist dawg lol. The opening scenes were crazy good & the 4-segmented one is one of the coldest I’ve seen. Always enjoy the process of how you create these.
Your hands-on instructional videos are great. I prefer this style of video versus watching someone sitting behind a desk talking about specs because it just makes you wonder if they really know how to use the equipment they are selling you on. This is a great channel - blessings from Oklahoma
Bro! This was extremely helpful in learning different lighting techniques. Definitely appreciate the tips. Would love more of this style of video. Thanks!
No one else on RUclips talking about this stuff makes me feel more confident in my ability to do better the next time I apply what I've learned. You can tell when someone truly owns their own affair with their craft, when their own energy and personality can sell the craft. Def my favorite.
Just roll with it - I never knew the lights can still appear non-existent when you adjust the white balance, truly amazed me. You definitely making me aware of how I wanna set up my videos so thank you👏🏽
I love the long videos and the process. Short form content makes people think everything is sooooo quick and its not. So when clients come and expect things to be done in a day or their budget dont make their request, this is why!!! Favorite shot was the garage because of the process.
Bro i went to film school and its been a while since i created anything. You kinda just summed everything up by the whole "Just Roll With it" bit. Alsoooo you hit the nail on the head with the whole art of filmmaking is essentially just problem solving. Yes vision is a huge part of it. But that will come with time as you develop that artistic eye.
Yo! "Just roll with it," like you said - I'm going through my filmmaking journey. I am new to this and I really appreciate that you showed moments when you were failing, but figured it out. And that making a short video takes real time and preparation. To me, that’s new, and to capture that, a long video like this it was completely necessary, it just gives a better sense of time. So, yeah thanks for sharing!
Just so you know as a marketer, longer videos are your best friend. This is where you can really retarget to sell other things to...like courses. People who watch your whole videos (like me) is very valuable in terms of brand awareness and salability. Love your content dude! Thanks for helping me on my content creation journey.
When I tapped on this video I had no intention of watching the whole thing, I was like “whoa that’s long” but then I ended up watching it anyway and quite enjoyed it
Just roll with it 🎥 these long form videos are packed with tons of good information and seeing the BTS and thought process behind your decisions is priceless 👌🏼
I have a gaffing job at @10am & considering how we’re gonna be working with multiple lights, your vid reminds me that less can really be more. - Especially for intense scenes. JUST ROLL WITH IT 🎥 & my fav shot is hard to pick between the green & red one at 41:00 & the garage one with the lazy Suzan 🔥
Dawg I ain't know the 300c came in white? It looks c l e a n. Love that you walked us through the entire process, both the fun results and the sometimes tedious path to get there. I appreciate this reminder than you can keep things simple and still make some great stuff if you push through the doubt in your mind. Just roll with it baby!
New to your content man, but as a new and up and coming filmmaker who’s also black, I appreciate your advice and art. Thank you for the insight and motivation brotha
That was wonderful! You’re the filmmaker friend we wish we hung out with. That’s the vibe of the video. Thank you for letting us hang with you along the creative journey.
I like that no matter the duration of the video you still be on subject and not everywhere but the subject I highly respect that. Watched the whole thing
Just roll with it 🎥... So many gems in this video. Thank you! I was shocked when I found out you staged the appearance of a car passing by your garage. Respect!
Long time viewer, first time commenting. This is easily my all time favorite video of yours. Straight up masterclass. Your enthusiasm for your craft shines.
Keep making the kind of content you want to make man. Don't let the algorithm burn you out. When you make stuff that feeds your passion and creativity, it makes us want to watch even more. Keep up the good work
It really wasn't long enough because I'm currently binge watching your content.😅 It's very valuable to me and the doubts you have about scenes is sooooo funny to me because to me they all look great 😂😂😂😂 I'm a real novice trying to get into content making and it so much value here. Thank you for putting in the time and giving the transparency 🫶🏾🙏🏾 much love.
Aye man. Love your content. Been a cinematographer my whole career, love your teaching style. I wanted to mention something a grip taught me when I was coming up years ago: At 19:35 I can see your c stand arm is underslung, meaning on the left hand side of the stand and on the underside the knuckle (grip head). The weight of your light can break the lock, or grip, of your knuckle which can send your gear crashing to the ground on into someone. The safest way to mount these lights is stand behind your light stand, put he knuckle on the right hand side, and make sure the arm goes through the top side of the knuckle. This was, as weight is applied to the arm with lights or modifiers, it actually tightens the knuckle. Hope this helps, keep it up man. Love your channel.
Hold upp, dude you got 87k views. I watched this, and every second you shot is wanted by my eyes. The blue light is an emotion motion light spot. It made yo cry, but that was just the animated emo bomb from the shoot. I love your stuff. I could watch you over and over, and keep listening to your voice, and watching. Very, very good it's goose dinner and caviar.
Bro, you are a legend man,I love your dedication, right now am a phone videographer but I've learnt alot from you,and that shot through the garage door,I loved it man
Damn bro I really admire your confidence to shoot out in public like that let alone have lighting in the middle of the street where you have to move it from cars. I live in a small city called Harrisburg, Pa wherever you’re from it seems like the residence are respectful to people trying to be creative if I would’ve tried that in my town somebody probably would’ve tried to run over my lighting or get out and start drama!! Love ya channel 🤝🏽💯
great as always man. Been watching you for like 8 years or so. Yeah... what we do is problem solving most of the time. Then a portion of that time is creating art with the problems we solved.
wow, thanks man! thats a lot of work & dedication you put into making this video...and i love how realistic this is (the common problems photographers face can be mundane, non-thrilling but we do what we gotta do to get that "one shot")...the tips & advice you gave are real-life, and based on experience & since I m a semi-professional photographer, I appreciate it ! God bless you brother !
Man, it's really great to make long format videos like this, it's a real course for beginners like me and you learn a lot. I'm just starting to make videos alone and this video simply made me feel less alone in my madness. I clearly don't have your level (maybe one day :p), but I recognized myself in this video... The struggles, the stress and the doubts and also the feeling, when it works (like the garage which is my favorite plan) to do something cool that pushes us to continue :)! So sincerely thank you very much for this format, and I would be delighted to see more :)! Just roll with it 🎥
Just roll with it 🎥. This is me personally, but I love these longer form videos it gives a much better insight into process, and shows how you work thru things.
Thanks for your hard work and time putting this together. As a Music Producer who wants to get better at filming myself and try stand out with my creativity from other producers and filmmakers alike, I took a lot from this video. Thanks 🙏🏾
Love your work and this longform video is refreshing and so good. As a writer - its true in my field of speciality - when you do or read a good long form article it blows the 'attention deficit' short pieces out of the water. Kudos to you - just discovered you with this vid - hope you'll feel pumped to do similar length vids in the future. Your articulate, chilled and well thought out approach not only the dynamic filming but also narration and audio is a winner - and those shots - Michael Mann would be jealous - much love from the UK and wishing you a lot of continued success in the future 🙏
Dude you have absolutely nailed the riddle of cinematic lighting. The last red-blue scene I watched on another creators channel was heavily over saturated, but seeing yours the balance was just right. Beautiful work man 👍🏽😎
Incroyable 🔥 Merci de montrer tout le processus pour crée de tels plans cinématographique. Je suis français, et actuellement aucune personne propose des vidéos aussi explicative et qualitative en France. Donc Merci 🙏🏻
I regret that I'm just now finding your channel. Really good stuff and I love the cinematic approach to walking us through the process. It's very refreshing to watch from the standard talk about specs behind a desk video. Very inspirational for my own creativity.
I am a filmmaker from Brooklyn N.Y. now living in Virginia working on my 5th movie but first in Virginia. The shoot in this video I like was the most was in the Tunnel with tube light.
This video IS LIT 🔥 As a long time subscriber, this right here gotta be among your best work! This approach to teaching is so refreshing. I actually watched the WHOLE THING! yes I made it to the end, and even watched the sponsored part out of respect for the work you put in.
Great long form content to explain how you get "the shot". Man, even just setting up for a podcast is a pain with basic cameras without lights. We are about to dive into the lighting aspect soon and so your content is great for learning what to do and also your lessons learned to help keep the learning curve shallow for everyone. Appreciation goes to you! Stay Blessed.
Bro, definitely roll with it! Not all the videos should be that long, but it’s nice to have them (lots of useful information) and, as for me, was easy to watch! Thanks👍🏻🙏🏻
Yo, I definitely appreciate you taking through the ups and downs of your process. It gives a realistic view of what it takes to pull off these types of videos. My favorite shot was the moonlighting. However, I found myself being proud of you (even though this is a par asocial relationship) for the garage shot at the end. I was hoping amaran sponsored this video for all the work you put in for them on advertising
I appreciate your content so much. You're one of the few youtubers I legit feel like im getting valuable lessons and information from. Just released my first little tester short short film. It sucks but you make me feel like I can get better.
Nah bro I’m Loving these videos because right now I’m in the self portrait phase and I wanna get into making self cinematic visuals as well so this helps a lot! 🤞🏿🔥🔥🔥
Longgggg video here, but I really wanted to bring you along for the journey + try some new things with these videos. Make sure to let me know if you enjoy, happy Friday!!

Don’t apologize making a long video, I loved every minute of it! Super informative and inspiring, that garage scene was 🔥
I mess with it. I really enjoy this content.
always great job dude! looking forward, checking this one tonight!

First 30 seconds look like a movie! 🔥🔥🔥
So gorgeous
That's why they call him the GOAT
Turned a tutorial into a movie🙌🏾
You're ruining other channels for me. The medium in which you deliver this invaluable information is truly unmatched. Pure cinema. Never stop.
You sharing all the doubts and struggles that you're going through as you set up the shots is super helpful and inspirational. You just have to start. Get out there and get the shots you need. This is the best advice for anyone.
Even the fox tryna learn about lightning
This guy is an artist, he shoots like he's painting
bro thanks for teaching such practical and high quality cinematography, God bless!!!
My pleasure!

“Just roll with it” - You a mad scientist dawg lol.

Pretty sure this is the ONLY video I've seen on YT about lighting that actually has good lighting!
Just roll with it 🎥 these long form videos are packed with tons of good information and seeing the BTS and thought process behind your decisions is priceless 👌🏼

It's crazy how much in depth yet consumable content you put out for us all. I hope you get $300 million dollars somehow hahaha
You really encapsulated the feeling of us feeling like we’re there with you. Awesome work
Made it all the way through. The garage shot was like Blade Runner, but I also really liked the leaves or blind modifications to the fill light.
Just roll with it 🎥
Thank you for shooting this. I’ll definitely be utilizing these techniques to elevate my videography style. 🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💯
You're a gifted teacher, God bless 🙏
I actually love long and thorough videos especially as a beginner. And this video was dope! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 🙏❤️
The amount of lightning needed for these shots are underrated. Thanks for being in depth and the BTS bro!

This was a great and enlightening video. We need to see just how much work goes into catching a 2- minute shot in an edited video. This was perfect
U know I’m watching every video u drop, from day one my Boii 💪🏾💪🏾
"Just Roll with it" Aye bro just wanted to say I appreciate you and all the information you provide🙌🙌

Yaaaay! The garage light experiment. Joy!!
I regret that I'm just now finding your channel. Really good stuff and I love the cinematic approach to walking us through the process. It's very refreshing to watch from the standard talk about specs behind a desk video. Very inspirational for my own creativity.
Pure and informative. One of your best ones. This style of video suits you well.
I like the trail and error and explaining the process you took.
Appreciate the value once again through all these years bro. That 40+ minutes felt like 10. Don’t stop my boy!
Best filmmaking video on YT atm thank you!!!!!
Good stuff. I'm a photog (Fuji's and Holga 612 PANO). I learn a lot about story telling and interesting lighting setups watching your videos. Respect
Great job. Very inspired, motivational and thoroughly well done. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
