I’m getting back in shape from a shattered femur and have been using the free metcons because they provide support and flexibility which has been great for recovery. I used to play basketball but haven’t since the injury. Im finally at a place where I feel comfortable getting back into playing again, though I’m worried about switching back to basketball shoes. Would you recommend the 4’s for playing basketball? If not is there a good basketball shoe that I wouldn’t feel uneasy wearing/playing in?
I tried on the 3 and 4 at the Nike store this week, and thought the toe area felt better and less stiff on the 4 than 3. It just felt more natural. I worked out with them (4) this am, and I loved them. Besides distance running (the heel does feel weird, although they are pretty light as you say), they were great for side-shuffles, squat jumps, broad jumps, etc. I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase.
Since basketball 🏀 is no longer a part of my weekend entertainment activities as was in my youth, the Nike Free Metcon 4 looks like the ideal shoe for low impact workouts!!
I was deciding between the free 3 and free 4. I went with the older model, the 3. I could get the 3 in triple black which is what I wanted. I like the pull tabs. Never liked the large NIKE at the back. Also felt that the outer material around the heel of the 3 was more durable. Other than that not much difference. I wear a 10.5 US of the Nike Pegasus Trail. I also bought the 10.5 in the Metcon free 3. They are slightly more snug (especially over the bridge) than the Pegasus trail but wouldn’t go for a size up. I also have a wide foot.
How are the 4's around the ankle? My 3's have no ankle tightness or support. I can slide my fingers down the side of the ankle. They won't tighten. I'm hoping Nike fixed this issue.
Thank you so much for this video. I have a question. In your opinion, what are the best "training" shoes to use in the gym for running and lifting weights?
Probably these (the Nike Free Metcon 4). That said, I much prefer real running shoes for running. All these cross trainers have too little cushion for me.
my shoe size is 43 but nike free metchon 4 shoe patterns are different can you help me ? What is your shoe size number, nike free metchon 4, which number should I buy?
I do circuit training classes that incorporate a little bit of everything. With weight lifting too. Like deadlifts and squats etc. I’m hoping these would be good for me as I was using a running shoe before and struggled with balance while weightlifting. I don’t lift heavy but still want more support. Would you say these are good for that?
Questions? Post here and I'll answer as best I can.
How is the grip? For running on light rainy days?
I'm 6'3 320 and I'm doing beachbody workouts like insanity and what shoes are great for doing those types of workouts

Yeah, these would be great! I'm deadlifting 140 Kilos in this video (308 lbs) and they are perfectly adequate.
