      I cannot wear it that way (& I've really tried, believe me!) but, some girls/ladies, their faces just look amazing, with a pixie (helps if you hv a tiny nose & espc those tiny perfect ears, which I don't have) - some girls have mid length/lob & it does nothing for them, though they hv delicate features - then they go actually short, real pixie length; v short in back, & it suits them so much & their features seem to become v noticeably beautiful. It's not for everybody but if you pin yr hair up & love it (& espc if yr always pinning it up & it suits you that way, I think it's a shame to think "oh you must hv long hair!" Some men are the type who say "oh, I only date women with long hair" (& I think those men are not a good bet anyway & don't worry. My friend has a gorgeous pixie cut, she's v blonde & huge blue eyes & it rlly suits her. (& men just flock around her so I don't think those rules actually apply🙏💜)

    I have had a pixie for most of my adult life. It’s light, freeing, and chic. But-reconsider getting one if you are easily bored. Growing out a pixie, depending on your personal situation, can take more than a year. I’ve suffered through many months of helmet hair, page boys cuts, and mullets because I want to change up my hair and you can’t do that quickly when your hair is two inches long. One positive I’ll add is you can color your hair without worrying about damage, because the ends get trimmed off every six to eight weeks. Platinum pixies are fun. So it’s not for everyone, but it is a good time if you’re feeling bold.

    • @erinkoster8654
      @erinkoster8654 Год назад +5

      Another thing: a pixie cut makes any facial features exaggerated. There’s nothing around your face to take attention from your bone structure. So that’s something else to keep in mind.

    I know others have said it before and that you're pretty consistent at this, but I really appreciate the diversity of models you use in this video (as well as your others)! As a white person, I've always been well-represented in the beauty space, but I spent way too long being totally oblivious to what a privilege that was and how infrequently women of other races were getting the level of representation that I did. So it's really heartening and makes me happy when everyone gets to see themselves, especially when diversity and representation are done so intentionally and yet feel so natural, the way you do here. Cheers, Audrey! :)

    Great video. Thank you for not making this about age. 😊 I haven’t had long hair since 5th grade and that was the typical stringy flat look. Since then , I wore it short. My wonderful stylist suggested growing my hair a bit longer so I could style it different ways, including pulling it back off my face for work. I am in the awkward stage now, but I trust her judgment and love it so far. A good stylist, someone who really takes the time to know you, your lifestyle and your hair, is fabulous.

    I’ve worn my hair short, long, and in between. In my 20s when long hair was the “in” thing I had 2 boyfriends who freely commented that short hair was more attractive on me. Hmmmm. I wore a Chanel bob in my 30s and 40s, but in my 50s my oval started to soften. As my chin line relaxed I realized that the longer length only drew attention to it. It’s been pixie short ever since. A much better look. 😊

    I watched Audrey's video on how to have an attractive voice, and I just want to say thank you. I've always hated my voice because it's naturally deep and loud, but when I follow Audrey's tips, my voice DOES sound a lot sweeter(and higher pitched too), and I love the way it sounds. Also, Audrey has this charm about her that most RUclipsrs don't have. She seems like a genuinely sweet human being, and she'll even make an effort to get back to you if she sees your comment. I love that. :)

    I’ve had an undercut since I was 23/24 because I wanted to reduce the thickness of my hair. I noticed that hairlengths past the shoulders tend to “weigh me down”. The past 6 years I’ve been experimenting with style & haircut that suit my personality but still are work appropriate (I work in healthcare & academia). During lockdown I finally nailed it: I feel most comfortable in short blunt bob & I have enough patience to take care of a longer bob if it’s above my shoulders. Longer than that, it will take forever for my hair to air-dry. In 2021 I tried bangs but they grew too fast, then my hairstylist suggested having face-framing layers that I can pin down when I work in the lab. So far it works, I think I’ve found my signature hairstyle!

I have a bit of wave to my hair and for years I went to a stylist that didn’t know how to cut my hair but I didn’t figure it out until I found an awesome stylist! She gave me a chin length bob with layers and it’s still big but in a super flattering way that makes me feel like me. Don’t give up, there is a super flattering cut that fits your features and your hair texture. Good luck!

    I tend to keep my haircut pretty simple, which is in a diagonal cut-off style with the front ends of my hair being just a little long. Any time I let my hair get past my shoulders, it just becomes tangled and unmanageable, so having shorter hair with that kind of style works out perfectly for me! 😊

    I have had a chin-ish length bob for most of adult life. My hair is fine and dyed a light ash blonde. I have heart-shaped face and wear glasses. I usually style my hair off my face because I hate it getting in my face during the day. I cannot really put my hair up, but I have clios and a band for washing off my makeup, for instance. When I have tried to go much longer---like past my shoulders, my hair is limp and hard to style. So shorter is better for me.

      If you've got thin hair (scalp showing through) then I find a pixie with no obvious part is the most flattering. For fine hair (individual hairs are thin) a blunt bob looks great - especially tucked behind the ears as it creates a chunky section of hair

  • @Hypatia52
    @Hypatia52 Год назад

    I not only have textures--I have a range. The top is 2A getting curly the lower it gets to 3A. From 1st to 8th grade I got a pixie because my hair was so thick and coarse and dry, so it tangled easily, and what I wanted wasn't important. In high school, I tried to grow it out, but once it got to my shoulders it looked like a rat's nest and my parents would whack it off.
    I can't stand short hair, but with a fair amount of hair glue, I can make it look okay at lob length. So, long and feathered is great. I love the variety of soft layers, but now it's changing again, it's drier than ever & the gray is rebelling, so I'm back to the drawing board & experimenting again.

    One factor you don’t mention is age. While not universally true, in general, the older you are, the more flattering short hair will be on you. Long hair emphasizes the impact of gravity on your face and the quickly retreating amount of collagen in your skin. In my personal experience, I went from a bob to a pixie and people told me I looked 10 years younger.
