What I love most about this channel is how Audrey gives such applicable advice that is vague yet spans different body types with a particular specificity. Magic.
I love the long coat/jacket trend. I started wearing them a few years ago because I lived in Europe and had to dress business casual everyday. Being cute AND warm was a must. Picked up the trend from watching what other people were wearing and I’ve never looked back. I find a lot of success with vintage Preston and York coats. Often they are well constructed with an nice inside lining.
The only thing keeping me back from getting a beautifully long, cute coat is the fact that they are often a) not waterproof and b) have no cap.. not very weather proof
i love this trend as well. Am still looking for the perfect coat though, because I want to keep it for years. Problem is that I am super tall and even the longest coats don’t look they way they supposed to…
I was confused by the term "long jacket"; to me, that would refer to boyfriend blazers or suit jackets. The items you were showing were definitely coats, not jackets. I've been wearing those long coats since my 30s. I'm nearly 70 now.
All those trends are in my opinion classics which are never out of style. If you are on the hunt for great tights get yourself Wolford. The items are made in Austria, are pricey but last and last. I am Austrian and I have never purchased from another company. My oldest pair might be over ten years old (and I wear them a lot, no handwashing!).
Yes! In October 2004, I was vacationing in Paris expecting to go bare-legged. Well, it was too cold for that, so I popped into a department store and purchased a pair of black Wolford tights. Here I am still wearing that same pair of Wolford tights, winter 2023!
I tend to monochromatic also , but denim on denim is a NO for me. Especially the light colored or (God forbid) stonewashed denim! 😳 UGH!!! I had my fill of all that in the late 1980s and into the 1990s. Even then, as a teenager, I didn't overdo it like some did. To me, it looks way too juvenile, casual, and lazy. As they say, if you're old enough to have already lived and dressed in a time where a fashion trend was originally popular, you don't do it again! I generally don't rigidly adhere to fashion rules, but that one is often true - at least for me. Same applies to any super chunky grunge Era (90s) boots and shoes. The overly chunky Doc Martens or even super thick platforms or heeled shoes and boots are way to masculine. Into my 40s, I have really tried to dress in a more feminine way, and those shoes are not it! Baseball caps can be a necessity or functional piece instead of a fashion statement - especially in hot, sunny weather. What I mean is - for my hair, which is naturally curly and tends to be frizzy in high humidity and some hot summer days if I'm just quickly running to a grocery store - or if outside exercising, it covers a messy mess of hair quickly! Also, I cover grays with color and highlights and keeping that covered with a baseball hat in sunny weather helps the color last. However, If I didn't have the hair I have, I probably wouldn't wear a hat in the Summer just as a fashion statement because again, it's not very feminine.
Denim on denim. Lol! The old Canadian tuxedo look that Britney and Justin tried to rock back in 2001 and got excoriated for years. For years considered the worst fashion faux pas now a chic trend.
Denim on denim even on those models is hard to pull off, imo. I would maybe do a light linen jeans blend chambray shirt with navy or black jeans but probably feel extremely uncomfortable and self-conscious while wearing it in public. 🤔
i like how baseball caps look on other people, but i can't seem to pull them off. i generally have difficult with hats because i have a large head and super thick/dense hair
Love everything on this list except the baseball cap. I don’t particularly like hats in general. They look cute on other people, but then when I wear one, it feels like it gets in the way. I can’t stand anything obstructing my view so seeing the bill of a cap irks me to no end.
I’m a Canadian and I do not avail of this Tuxedo. Tragic! I would like to try it this year. Tights/Boots and all black are some of my absolute favourites, it’s never gone out for me. I’m really loving navy as of late, I think it’s a power colour for me. I feel great in navy! For long coats, I’m on the hunt for something that fits well as I am petite like you at 5’3.
Hi Audrey: I always enjoy your videos and appreciate a lot of the trends you feature in this one. Just wanted to say, though, that IMO, whether we come to regret purchases has at least as much to do with our lifestyle as with the beauty and classic quality of an item. For example, I would absolutely regret buying a long coat this year because they’re just not practical for me: I drive a lot and prefer an above the knee length. 😊
@@korenbrigham I totally agree! I lived in NYC & Chicago for years and used my long wool coats & silk long johns every winter. This winter it’s been unusually cold where I live now & I’m so glad I saved the long johns as I’ve been needing those & my longish down coat for the ten minute walk from car to office! 😊
I love your videos 💖 and I enjoy most of the trends, especially the black one 😁 but the ballet flats are just not my thing. The soles are usually too thin and make my back hurt.
Podiatrists caution against wearing flat shoes. From a podiatry website: "The ideal heel height is 1 inch. Wearing a short heel is better than not wearing a heel at all. Wearing a shoe with a short heel places less tension in the Achilles tendon and will feel more comfortable."
@@wisteria808 that explains a lot regarding my favourite shoes 😄Wearing well cushioned high heels hurt my feet less than wearing flat, badly cushioned shoes.
The trends that you feature in today's video are great classics. I would love to see you create a video where you show how you will be styling denim on denim.
You are officially the sweetest and most uplifting RUclipsr :) I haven't watched one of your videos in ages but clicked on this on a difficult day, and your smile, musical voice and style tips were such a cheer-up. Thank you! On board with all your tips here except the ballet flats... I'm slim but my legs just don't look good in them, they just look dumpy on me. Lol!
Coats always look better in long. The shorter knee length ones just look strange to me and they don't work with dresses or skirts. Another trend that is going to stick are retro sneakers. They have been here forever. They've been replaced by more chunky styles, but if you stick to retro shapes you'll be good.
Audrey is fulfilling to hear you talk and explain the trends. In New York 🗽 during the winter months there’s a lot of “Wednesday Adams” effect which I love. I had to admit that monochromatic is an easier way to dress for me. Your sweet voice is always a plus to your videos. Happy 2023 to you and your family.
When I was in college I worked at an upscale restaurant and we had to wear black on black. Now, every time I see a woman in all black has me flashing back to "Welcome, may I get you a cocktail before ordering?"
As always, so relaxing and interesting. 🥰 I like that most of these, I can already do, with the exception of those long coats. They look to die for and I do not have one! But everything else I could incorporate with at least one or two pieces in my closet. These trends come across as timeless and classic and I'm excited about them.
As much as I love the look of tights, they are incredibly uncomfortable for daily wear outside of formal settings. I'll definitely keep wearing my baseball hats though
Really? I find tights very comfortable! I wear them with ballet flats, brogues, ankle boots, knee-high boots, and even under my trousers for a little extra warmth. I'm a teacher. I sit on the floor often, I'm constantly running after children, I maintain a school garden, and teach mindfulness and classroom yoga daily...if I found them uncomfortable, believe me, I would not wear them.
I'm so glad I didn't get rid of my long coats, it seems I have so many coats and wanted to get rid of my long ones but figured no I'll keep them, glad I did.
Dear Audrey, concerniing boots, have you ever checked the Inez boots. It is an amazing highend shoecompany. The make really beautiful shoel and boots! Best regards to you!
Style is definitely very individual. The only trend mentioned that I actually participate in is tights. I don’t care for any of the other trends. I do like boots but I’ve had no luck in finding boots for a small foot and athletic leg. Even wide calf’s don’t fit. Of course these are all personal choice. Just my take on things.
Audrey, you have this amazing gift of being able to share your opinion with such care and kindness. :) I have a long coat that I've had for close to twenty years now and people still give me compliments every time I wear it, so I love that you talked about this.
I loved how you curated everything & it does seem applicable as well. Also, it reminds me I recently wore Denim on Denim after so long, & it looked really good. And long tailored coats are my all-time favorite. Like you said, TIMELESS :)
Baseball caps: it depends on what I'm doing. For hiking, sightseeing, walking around the city (tourist style), sure. But for everything else, that's a no no for me.
Since I never have any idea what's trendy or fashionable at the moment these video are always a nice way to get a feel for what's going on right now and what might already fit into my day to day style. I love the long coast and will definitely try the denim-on-demin look and maybe a darker baseball cap. I only have a very bright one for the summer.
Enjoyed the video and will never give up on the classic styles u mentioned. I am 52 y.o and saved a 90s sheer black column dress with very subtle beading . It came with a black slip to wear underneath . I still get compliments when I wear it.
In my experience, no pair of ballet flats would last five years - unless worn very rarely - because there's so little structure. I've spent more money to get better quality ones in the past, but never get more than a year's wear out of them. Does anyone have any recommendations for ones worth the investment or tips for looking after them?
I've had my flats for a while, in fact, years. What I've found helpful is to clean the shoes after each wear (as needed), store then in a box or shoe bag, & either stuff the toes or use shoe trees to hold their shape. Oh, & I don't wear them in inclement weather.
I have to have good arch support. I have two pairs of Vionic that are lasting well and I wear them a lot. One is typical ballerina pink and the other pair are black quilted with a patent toe. People think the black pair are Chanel all the time,
I dont think any of these will ever get out of style. They were in style since the beginning and I didn't know that they weren't in style (I don't look at fashion trends).
Wonderful! I have a few of these already! The jackets, all black and tights. I don’t wear baseball caps but I have a variety of hats. It’s fun when my style is a trend.
Thank you so much for your pragmatic approach to dressing and style! I have seen over the years ballet flat going in and out of style. For me, they have always been in. My favorite pair is a 20-year old, J.Crew Made-in-Italy pair that Ive had repaired over and over because they are perfect! In addition, I love my Repetto ballet flats! Dressing in all black is another favorite style for me! Thank you so much!
Big fan of your style tips, Audrey, but gosh the pics aren't flattering. Most of these folks look badddd. Sloppy, oversized clothes don't look good on anyone, no matter how much they cost.
I wear a long flowy raglan sleeve overcoat when I go to cold places. It goes over biker jacket, blazer, cardi, vest really well. My bums and legs are protected against wind chill. My coat has been with me for over 35 years. Still can’t replace it with a new black coat.
Another excellent video! I really appreciate videos where you feature pins and Instagram posts. You have such a fantastic eye and I appreciate the diversity of images. Love denim on denim and long coats in particular. I might just try a baseball hat!
I am totally on board with finding ageless classics that have both staying power and (if cared for) last forever! I do wear baseball caps. You really need to try them on because the shape of the crown can vary dramatically. Since, I've been wearing them for years, I'd gotten a little tired of always grabbing one when I need a simple hat; so, I decided to invest in a "flat cap." "Flat caps" are a group of hats that are usually one of the many styles of "newsboy" or "Ivy caps." I have a black & grey, wool "Ivy cap" that has the extra piece of fabric on the sides which lifts it a bit. It's fun when it rains, I throw on my wool Ivy cap, a scarf and my long trench . . . ;-)
I love the tips Audrey has given us. Many of the styles she suggests mean that I just have to shift and shuffle what I already own to be "on trend." Need to find a chambray shirt to replace one that was well worn and given up a few years back.
I love hats. Last year I wore my black Lululemon baseball hat everywhere including Rome. Hats were my saviour during my grey hair transition. I agree with this video's trends. Thanks Audrey.
i would add chunky boots to this. maybe not the extreme platform kind, but living in a cold place i appreciate the extra grip on the soles when walking in winter. and some of these are added to classic boot styles that dont go out of style (like chelsea boots). so practical. now i cant imagine buying shoes with flat surface on the sole or no grip.
I laughed at the first image for long coats. That’s Brittany Bathgate, undeniably stylish in a very timeless way, not the least bit trendy. None of these were trends, that’s why we don’t regret them in 5 years.
I have a denim jean jacket that perfectly goes with a certain pair of jeans. I paired it with a ruffled Jean Paul Gaultier cream colored ruffled shirt. It’s cute and makes a great spring outfit. Both were in my closet already and I didn’t have to spend a dime. 🎉
Thanks Audrey for the double denim tip. When I lived in Germany, the look was called a 'Jeans Anzug' or Jeans Suit (not in a good way) , but the blazer on top made all of the difference.
Let’s make a bet- you will regret denim on denim. Way too casual .Long coat does not keep you warm. Good quality, well designed for cold weather coat will. Black will never go out of style- agree.
I love the focus of this video. As a more mature woman, I've seen lots of videos of "Trends this year that you should take a pass on" and they are almost always something that, here in Seattle, no one over 16 would wear--not very helpful, but sometimes quite funny. OTOH, I'm not going to purchase all basics either, it can get dull. So this is a great midpoint, the only one I will pass on is baseball caps. I have problems wearing hats period. I wear a 7.5 and with coarse wavy hair--it's a no-go. Plus, I do hate baseball caps in general. My one question is about the long tailored coats. I am very much pear-shaped, does anyone have any suggestions for incorporating this trend for me, or is this just one I will have to pass on? Thanks!
I love the look of ballet flats but they never worked for me.. I think I have shallow but wide feet that's y.. But excited to get sleek boots and good caps! Would you share what kind of exercise or workout routine? Need some inspiration for the new year and have a feeling u might have some elegant tips
Audrey this video is so phenomenal! Love your voice and all of your points. You chose such classic styles and make such brilliant points about styling sustainability 👏👏👏
Lovely video Audrey. These seem like classics to me. Bought a denim shirt recently to try the D/on/D look; ❤️❤️❤️ tights, especially w/fun patterns in cold weather- and ❤️ polka dot nylons - wore those a lot in the 90s; all-black or all navy is great too, and like you said, if at least one item has special detailing (lace/eyelet); ❤️❤️ boots - recently found two classic pairs of Dr. Scholl booties (one black leather & one tan faux suede (Amazon) that are super comfy & will last for years; being 5’2” I’ve never enjoyed wearing ballet flats; ❤️ long coats, just don’t have any currently - saw a classic, adorable calf-length ballet pink coat in a movie last year & wish I could find one like it; baseball caps: I only wear when walking/hiking or gardening.
Think of all these as timeless staples, but happy😊 that they're trending. 💯% here for all black🖤 (& navy for that matter). L🤍ve a duster length jacket〰️& keep 👁👁eyes perpetually peeled at thrift stores for extremely lightweight trench coats more suitable for year 🔄 round use in LA😎. Have my closet quota of traditional Winter ❄️ coats. 🥺Although I'm having to move away from sleeker shoes in general. 🤣Sadly, I need a wider shoe & toe box nowadays for corrective orthotics🦶. 🤩You're a super star in my book for sticking up for baseball caps. It's not something I wear everyday, but I managed to amass a huge collection of 'em over the decades (🧳traveling, working for 🎬Disney🎡, & following football 🏈). 🧢They can add such personality, whimsy, & style as well as functionality. 😉Thx for demonstrating that you don't have to look tacky in them. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I’m excited for the return of maxi coats. I can’t think why I ever got rid of the one I used to have. I love my cashmere mix baseball caps from Uniqlo - I’ve got a navy and a black one and they feel cool and effortless but fun.
Hi You have such a sweet soft voice. Love your 2023 trends suggestion. Good vlog thanks for sharing 💖 I have been trying to find a good winter long coat since a while now. But haven’t found any. Dear can you recommend some brand ? Thnxxx
Navy Blue is my “go to”, when I can find it vs black. I’m older and fair in complexion. Black drains me out, where Blue works better for me. It’s a no to the clunky, chunky shoes! My preference is something more sleek and feminine. A nice blazer with a pair of dark wash, high rise jeans on my frame is a definite win. I just have to find those perfect jeans. Lol! I have already check your video out in that one. Audrey, you are a sweet gem. Love your videos, your quiet demeanour, and your wealth of knowledge. Keep those videos coming. 💖
Hi Audrey, thanks for the great videos! I've been looking for inspiration for my outfits. Do you know where are some websites I can find inspiration for my outfits? Until now I found Pinterest. Are there more websites you can recommend?
Thank you Audrey for mentioning denim on denim. I have a lot of denims and chambray blouses. Grateful I didn't give it away. I also love silk and linens actually.
I'd like a video on how you care for all your clothes. Do you wash your wool and silk? Dryclean everything? How do you deal with yellowing on white shirts? Do you steam, iron, or both? How often do you wash things like sweaters? Every time you wear it?
What I love most about this channel is how Audrey gives such applicable advice that is vague yet spans different body types with a particular specificity. Magic.
Nice but these are not really Trends more like basics..?!
Please speak up! I turned the laptop volume all the way up. Surely a person doesn;t whiisper in real life

Jacket and coat are commonly used interchangeably. I don't think you were confused, I think you were being curt on purpose.
@@LDM805 Good 👁️
@LM that's rather curt of you. I've never heard anyone call a calf length coat a jacket
In my area, anything that's not a winter coat is a jacket (though I'd guess that's not technically correct it's a colloquialism).
Ballet flats is something my feet will regret about in in 5 years.
Yesss the Canadian tuxedo is timeless! 🇨🇦 👖

Kinda ridiculous tbh. People should wear whatever the heck they want, even if it doesn't make sense. No, but, seriously I totally remember that. 🧥👖
Double denim.. no

ballets flats

sleek boots ankle or higher
sheer tights / stockings
baseball caps
Love these ideas/trends/outfits!!! Have to say I am a baseball cap hater-but only because I have a big head and a full face-it just looks bad! 😢

Unfortunately I can’t wear black against my face it drains the colour out.
I like the Jenna Ortega look… she can rock the look in all black.
Big fan of your style tips, Audrey, but gosh the pics aren't flattering. Most of these folks look badddd. Sloppy, oversized clothes don't look good on anyone, no matter how much they cost.
I can't wait for the pendulum to swing away from oversized.
There are so many cute hats, why would one choose a baseball cap? They are very Americana and it makes you stand out when you are in Europe.
What a lovely video. Thoroughly enjoyed every second.
You're voice is so soothing.
Denim on denim! I am so glad to hear this, I always thought it was a no no to do so.
I laughed at the first image for long coats. That’s Brittany Bathgate, undeniably stylish in a very timeless way, not the least bit trendy. None of these were trends, that’s why we don’t regret them in 5 years.
I’ve never been a hat 🧢 wearer. On a day 3 hair day …. It works ! Running errands etc
Adore you Audrey! Always the most classic and timeless xx
Would love to wear an oversized coats, but my shoulders are too wide and I look like Rambo -_-
I love all black with fabulous accessories. Easy and classic.
Thanks Audrey for the double denim tip. When I lived in Germany, the look was called a 'Jeans Anzug' or Jeans Suit (not in a good way) , but the blazer on top made all of the difference.
I’m in the U.S. but have heard the look referred to as a “Canadian tuxedo”, lol. I liked the look best with an accompanying blazer as well.
I am german. Trend or no trend, a Jeansanzug really is only appropriate as workwear in a garage, stable or garden.
Amazing video! So helpful! Happy New Year, Audrey!
Love your take on the trends!
All trends are great, except head to toe black. Non my colour, makes me look blank(.
Let’s make a bet- you will regret denim on denim. Way too casual .Long coat does not keep you warm. Good quality, well designed for cold weather coat will. Black will never go out of style- agree.
Love all the suggestions Audrey, thank you so much!!
You have a very pleasant voice. Great video 👍. Many greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♀️
Thanks!
I bought my ankle boot from Burberry in 2010, and as I watched your video, I didn't realize it is on trend this year, yey!
Doesn’t she have the most delightful voice ! So sweet.
L🤍ve a duster length jacket〰️& keep
👁👁eyes perpetually peeled at thrift stores for extremely lightweight trench coats more suitable for year 🔄 round use in LA😎.
It's not something I wear everyday, but I managed to amass a huge collection of 'em over the decades (🧳traveling, working for
🎬Disney🎡, & following football 🏈).
🧢They can add such personality, whimsy, & style as well as functionality. 😉Thx for demonstrating that you don't have to look tacky in them.

I’m excited for the return of maxi coats. I can’t think why I ever got rid of the one I used to have. I love my cashmere mix baseball caps from Uniqlo - I’ve got a navy and a black one and they feel cool and effortless but fun.
my favorite person ❤❤❤ Audrey ,thank you for creating with love n positivity
Anyone recommend where to buy a nice Henley top for women?
LL Bean? Athleta?
I noticed that it's a little hard to see the items. Maybe more of a close up would work better.
Happy New Year Aubrey!
Hi
You have such a sweet soft voice. Love your 2023 trends suggestion. Good vlog thanks for sharing 💖
I have been trying to find a good winter long coat since a while now.
Hi Audrey,
thanks for the great videos! I've been looking for inspiration for my outfits. Do you know where are some websites I can find inspiration for my outfits? Until now I found Pinterest. Are there more websites you can recommend?
Your examples are all really thin people, would love some other size representations so we can see what it would look like on other bodies
Denim skirts!!? Wait a minute ..I just watched her other video saying to ditch denim skirts for 2023! 😮
I'm a small, muscular person, and I never can find a pair of jeans that actually fit properly.
Armed Angels? They come in every length, size, and fit, eco-friendly. Try it.
@@tinekejoldersma Thanks for the tip
Fit to the largest part of you and then have them tailored? I do that with the waist.
Thank you Audrey for mentioning denim on denim. I have a lot of denims and chambray blouses. Grateful I didn't give it away. I also love silk and linens actually.
Your voice doesn't sound real.. very practiced.. odd
It reminds me of something out of the show The Guilded Age🤔
Love love love!
All things I love! ❤
I'd like a video on how you care for all your clothes. Do you wash your wool and silk? Dryclean everything? How do you deal with yellowing on white shirts? Do you steam, iron, or both? How often do you wash things like sweaters? Every time you wear it?
Anyone that cleaning out their closest and throwing out clothes I'll take them. Please! And thank you!❤❤
