I so relate to picking up easily accessible clothes out of sheer laziness . My 2023 goal is also to be more intentional about my style like I was before Covid
I appreciate how you strategically map out and explain your loves, hates and challenges. Regarding hair and seasonal dressing I'm totally opposite to you! This year, for the 1st time ever, I got a really short pixie cut which has already simplified my life amazingly! Longer hair was such a chore precisely because you have to "do something" with it! Seasonally I LOVE summer! I prefer the carefree warm days where a simple dress and sandals or sneakers is all that's required! My summer wardrobe is massive! I dread cold weather! I hate layers, coats, jackets, sweaters, scarfs, boots, hats, trying to dress "warm", etc! As a result I do just what you said about summer; I wear the same cold weather outfit until I need to dress up. My challenge is to become "cold weather" stylish.
I love how you consciously curate your wardrobe choices and get in touch with how you're feeling/what you feel like wearing! I'm in a weird place...a sort of transition...and am in awe of the time and effort spent to plan things you love as well as embracing a somewhat neglected area (Summer). I also struggle with summer and most of my clothes are dark because I love fall/winter. I turned 50 a few months ago, am finally losing weight, and am looking forward to fitting into pieces I love that have not fit for some time. I'm also experimenting with longer hair (also to soften masculine/structured pieces) and choosing lighter colors gets me out of my comfort zone. Wardrobe planning is actually very interesting to me so I hope to be able to spend more time on it as I reach my goal weight, regain health and feel inspired to plan and put outfits together again!
Would love for you to start a podcast audrey!!! Your voice is so calming and i feel that you have so much to say in many categories of fashion. I would definitely subscribe! 🥰
I have very long, straight plain hair and I am mid 50. When I was younger, I experimented with short hair cuts, but I am just a long hair person. Hairdresser always recommended layering, but I didnt. I love wearing buns and have control of all of my hair. I never look cool or wild or messy...that's just me. Thank you for encouraging long hair.
I also dread summer weather! I've found it challenging to look chic yet feel comfortable, while also staying protected from the sun. I hope I can reconcile with summer fashion one day!
I am sympathetic about the challenges of dressing cutely and/or comfortably in humid summers. I grew up in south Louisiana and now live not far from Washington DC. I visited Charleston for Spoleto some years ago and felt wilted. And yet I saw so many locals in makeup and cute clothes and was proud of these young women for making it work. Over the last couple summers, I have bought some nice short-sleeved, woven tops in cotton or linen from the likes of Boden, Club Monaco, and J. Crew. These shirts are both dressier and cooler than the t-shirts I had been wearing. Grandma was right! I am short, high-waisted, and curvy, so finding shirts that fit is challenging, so I am happy to have found what I did. They are white, pink eyelet, lemon-printed, mint eyelet, and blue and white striped--all light or mildly bright, perfect for summer. It took a little extra effort, but I now have some "smart" summer tops for when I want to be fancier than a t-shirt.

Good for you for wearing your hair the way you like. I'm the same and the opposite. I like my hair short, but I've let my gray show. I've had family members tell me I would look younger if I colored it. I'm happy how I look. Hope you are too.
Good to see both these comments. My hair will be staying long even when it's totally white, and that will fit with my ethereal essence 🙂 whereas my best friend shaves hers. We are like you guys, doing what works for us. We're 44.

Great comment. Mine will be staying long even when it's white. Some of us are just long hair people, whereas my best friend shaves hers. 🙂 We both find our styles easy to look after but struggled with mid length.
Totally understand the "Hair" issue. I too decided to grow out my hair and I love the versatility in everyday/going out & working out. Love your videos :)
Nice suggestions, for me those check out would be more about checking if my wardrobe is aligned with my personality and getting inspiration to create new outfit combinations rather than plan my yearly wardrobe. I think it's most important. I like to dress by how I feel each day, not planning too much but recheck that my current style aligns with my authentic self!
I am certainly not a fan of summer either, yet I live in Western Australia and it is extremely hot here in the summer. We also have extremely mild winters. I did not require a coat at all last winter. My wardrobe is dominated by autumn/ winter items, which makes no sense. I'm also uninspired by summer clothing for myself, overall it does not reflect my personal style at all, as I opt for total comfort over style, shorts and a variety of t-shirts on repeat. Our spring is also very warm, so the cooler weather is minimal here. Thank you for another excellent video Audrey, I appreciate your perspective and guidance as always 💜💙🤍
Great video! The psychological & emotional response to dressing is very important to address. Helpful for coming out of a stale, stagnant or dry style period! Thanks Audrey!
You have managed to get me excited about wardrobe planning 😁- and having grown my hair longer and one length (at 60), I’m loving styling it and adding softness to tailoring so 💯understand your enthusiasm. Let’s have fun.
Warm/hot weather is not mine eather. I despite the heat🫣 i dont know how to dress, i reather stay inside the fridge than go out😅 i love the cold weather. This year i want to find some pieces that i love and will wear for years to come..this will be a challenge
I understand your feelings towards summer, heat and humidity and I live in FL. I tell the younger ladies in my family, daughters, nieces that we don’t sweat; we sparkle wink😢
I always find your videos so inspiring! I'm just starting to build my wardrobe, and it's nice to see someone so comfortable with themselves and their own style, without needing to pass judgement on other people's style.
This means so much to me! I dream of a world where everyone can dress exactly the way they want to ❤️ I love seeing how unique and personal style can be 🥰
Love these ideas and the way you think about inspiration and planning. This all white outfit with the silky top and the structured pants is stunning on you!
Your point about leaning more into your summer wardrobe really resonated (but opposite) because for me, my cold weather wardrobe is what always ends up feeling redundant and neglected. I've lived in Colorado for 15+ years but still don't feel like I've fully developed a fall/winter wardrobe that feels elevated and curated to my personal style because 1) everyone here dresses really casually all year round (athleisure all day everyday) and 2) so much of dressing for the cold is function over fashion. It's the same few coats with the same few sweaters + it doesn't help that winter clothing is usually much more pricey of an investment. On the flip side however, even though it often results in being overdressed, I don't ever let that stop me from wearing airy, ethereal pieces I feel my best in during the summer and that part of my wardrobe has way more careful thought behind it despite being less practical. Maybe we should just switch cities? 😂 All this to say... I so appreciate how thoughtful and intentional you are with your style and you've inspired me to do the same. My goal this year is definitely to try to find that same "summer joy" in dressing for other seasons!
Over the years, following you has enabled me to be more thoughtful about my purchases. Recently I was shopping for some dresses and I saw myself drawn towards this white dress. But white isn't a colour I reach out to when I have to dress up for an occasion. So after much contemplation I bought an emerald green dress instead. I love wearing deep jewel tones and although the green dress was slightly more expensive than the white dress, I know I'd get more usage out of it.
I so admire the direction you are going this year. I have always felt so elegant/comfortable in monochromatic outfits, with a delicate pop of color, in classic jewelry and leather handbags. I have lived by the Moto, I would choose a few pricey pieces, than lots of pieces, fast fashion. I think that feeling comes from being in a uniform for 12 years in school. Growing up we had nice pieces but not a ton of cloths. You only get once to make a first impression. Audrey, love your direction and emphasis this year!❤️👍❤️
Very inspiring video. Slowly coming out of the last three years of more casual wear, I need to get back to my stylish clothes but look at them in a new way!
Audrey, I really enjoy and am inspired by your videos! If I might make a suggestion, you used the phrase "lean into" 9 times, which became a bit annoying. Perhaps, mixing it up a bit would be helpful. Again, just a constructive criticism, not a correction
Your comment about being wrapped in hug really resonated with me. I realised last year that my clothes were not stylish, but neither were they comfortable. I was in a rut, wearing cord leggings which by then I was beginning to feel constricted by. I invested in a lot of velvety tetxured(something I still love) and knitted trousers . But halfway into this process something within me changed, and then I started craving something more structured, so I began my journey in that direction. I deliberately challenged myself to really dress up for my language course: the only place I met other people, and I loved it. Sales allowed me to experiment with styles I had never considered before, but I forced myself to try everything , sometimes multiple times, before deciding to keep them:I wasn't going to clutter my wardrobe with pointless purchases. Over the last year, I have bought things even when not on sale, because I have gained more confidence in sartorial choices. There have been some misses but mostly, I am at my stylish best I think. And I too love pearls :).
A few years ago, a friend came up to me and stroked my arm. When I looked at her, she said “What? Everything you wear always feels so good and is so soft! I just wanted to touch it.”
I love your perspectives. I went from a four seasons-cold winter place to a very hot dry place about 9 years ago. It was difficult to try and look cute when it's 120 degrees outside but now I have fun with it. I really like cute skorts so you don't have the chaffing issue and sun dresses. Cotton is also my friend.
I understand re: hair... I usually get long layers but I'm trying a shorter length .. I'm probably going to grow it out , I can't stand hair in my face . Bangs are probably a bad idea ... Oh well. It'll grow out .. eventually 😔... I adore (mother of pearl )and pearls.. I was thinking the word " ephemeral" when you said it .. I live in Az . I love hot weather... I have accumulated blazers... Love the look but doesn't suit my climate or lifestyle.. same thing for leather coats, blazers, skirts, etc .. I want to look polished but comfortable... I'm still working on my wardrobe... P.s. I like short nails too! So clean and natural.
I really enjoyed this breakdown of how you want your style to evolve, Audrey! It's kind of making me reflect on where my style is heading, and I'll admit that I've been participating in a couple trends here and there to help fill certain gaps within my wardrobe. Brown really is such a great color and I would love to see more of that color on you! Thanks for sharing 😊
I love your videos but can I recommend adjusting the overall volume of your videos? I really enjoy the soft voice but I find the volume much too low. I end up having to raise the volume by a lot but then when I switch to a different video on RUclips it ends up blaring loud. Thank you!
Your video has actually inspired me so much to sit and think about some goals for my wardrobe in 2023. I also find it so playful and interesting and creative to explore what I want to approach this year, or in the following months, what I want to continue doing from last year, etc. Thank you so much!
Your comment about being dressed in a hug really resonates. I very mindfully have decided that I am going to be more of an "elevated basic minimalist" in my wardrobe. This Spring I am adding blazers with classic denim jeans or pants with a basic tank and loafers. I *must* get out of my athleisure/lounge wear wardrobe.
I totally ADMIRE your ability to be in front of the camera in Such NATURAL AND UNPRETENTIOUS WAY...!! You have this GIFT of being so Calm, and naturaly l FEMININE, Gentle, TIMELESSLY BEAUTIFUL in your Way of Dress and Presentation !! You portray THE QUALITIES OF FEMALE TIMELESS BEAUTY AND CONDUCT that all Modern women should be learning, and following !! THANK YOU for Being SUCH AN AMAZING ROLE MODEL for the Modern Females !! God Bless !! ❤ TIMEL
That mother of pearl signet ring is truly beautiful! 🤩 I also hear you on the wanting to feel "dressy". Between the pandemic, working from home and moving from the countryside to a city a couple of years ago, I am really enjoying "dressing up" when I finally get out of the house! 😄
I loved the part about wearing clothes because a of a comfort zone, but getting lazy about it. I often find myself reaching for the same things over and over. You have lovely, healthy, hair and if you want it longer, you should go for it. You are still young, and will have lots of time to cut it later.
Researches show that most women use only 20%off their wardrobe. I found that a good way to maximize your closet is to get an inspection on Pinterest and then shop your own closet and build from time to time a mini capsule wardrobe to create many outfit combinations!
I started growing my hair out from a very short cut in the mid '90s to mid-back-length, cut straight across. I let my hair grow down to my waist or so, then get it cut to right about where my bra crosses my back. I've recently discovered that if you want to donate to Wigs For Kids, they would like hair donations of 12" long or longer, and gray doesn't matter. I don't color my gray; they need strong, healthy, non-treated hair for their wigs. It takes me about eighteen months to two years to grow the length they need -- then I get it cut again back to bra-length and start over! Most of the time I wear my hair in a clip, and people are shocked at how long it is on the rare occasion that I wear it "down." It's just easier to take care of that way. Doesn't get in my face. I've thought of getting a more "stylish" shorter cut as I age and my hair is whitening, but that means perms and visits to the salon and all that. I'm glad I can do something positive for the world and grow my hair out for Wigs For Kids. Growing hair is apparently my super power.
Please make a video at some point this year documenting your progress on your summer wardrobe! I have the exact same problem as you regarding hot weather and no fun summer wardrobe items.
What I miss about living in the tropics is wearing light, pretty dresses all year long! I always feel so stifled in all the Midwest winter layers, and yet I'm still cold all the time 😂
That's me, 100%! Now that I live in a place with cold winters, I spend half of the year lamenting, "Where does my body start, under all these layers? Where did my legs go? When was the last time I saw my shoulders? Oh, when, when, will I get to wear my sandals, all my airy dresses, the straw hats and wooden necklaces?"
Same here! No matter how many layers I wear, I am never warm where I live. (In the dead of winter, even hot yoga makes me not sweat until class is over. 🧘🏻♀️) Even when I turn up the heat, I freeze when I change clothes, so from late October to as late as May, I live in my miserable winter clothes. I celebrate when it is time to put away my sweaters, winter coats, and boots for the season! My next house needs to be warm year round! 😎
Living in Central Canada, I used to feel the same way about myself. But we moved last year into a house that faces the south AND has a wood stove. I love that I haven't been cold all winter! My house gets so toasty and warm on a sunny day.
I have the same problems with my hair, one length doesn’t work either. It looks to hard for my look, I think it will be the same for you. I have found starting with 2inches below my chin with my first layer solved my problem. Then a light layer in the front and about 2 inches light layers in the back worked perfectly ❤️a big fan of you in Bangkok, Thailand
Audrey I loved your story about your ring it almost sounds like the direct inspiration to all of your wardrobe goals. I am so here for it. I fell into the “how many oxford cotton shirts can you add to your closet” rut so…I’m going to work on ways to style them all differently when I wear them 🙄 good luck to me. LOL 😂. I live in California desert (AKA HADES 🥵🌵) so I am right there with you on amping up my Hades wardrobe. I love dresses and have already been snooping around all my favorite sites to see what’s coming. 😊 Happy Summer Shopping Audrey 🔥❤❤❤❤
I love white and ivory colour in clothes, but with two little kids just can not afford to have them, at least for now...maybe in 5 years. Can you possible consider filming a video with casual outfits, but without joggers and hoodies (fed up with them), but appropriate for busy mums? I know it is not your topic, but maybe someone from the audience will support me?
Can I just say that I love your hands. I am so appalled by the super long thick nails that are popular right now, they look like claws to me and I hate them. I guess the currently popular gel fakes are just so thick they stick out of the finger and look creepy. Your natural nails are so much more beautiful, even if not long.
Yes!! I agree. I commented on a RUclips and her nails which were as you described but I didn’t mean it to be offensive it was super distracting as she tapped and touched everything, click click click, and talking with her hands claws in the air lol it was A LOT. I honestly stopped viewing due to that sole reason.
@@ronnie-lynn I thought why I'm so triggered by them, I don't mind long nails, even pointy ones. I think it's because they all wear them in nude color and it really blends with the hand. And because they stick above the finger so much it just looks like some mutant talons... yuck, can't wait for that particular trend to be over.
@@ronnie-lynn I remember your comment 😃and remember feeling just the opposite---I love how she moves her hands, and how she keeps them between her waist and her collarbone. They remind me of dragonflies, hummingbirds, pinwheels, prayer flags, and twinkling stars. There's a magical quality to hands that flutter so.
@@dannidell well, it doesn't look good on anyone, but I do mean the nude ones. The colorful ones, I more often see Black girls wearing, actually do look cute, albeit I can't imagine how can anyone function with such nails. Some wicked skills needed.
Thank you for sharing! I have definitely gotten lazy and too comfortable the last few years with how I dress myself. I kept reaching for the same old and honestly put in zero efforts! I did a closet reorganization in January and was reminded how many beautiful pieces I have been ignoring. I look forward to being more intentional and creative again :)
Such a great video, Audrey. Thank you. I take inspiration from your comment about leaning into the humid summer months as I usually just spend that time dreaming about fall and winter and reaching for the usual outfits that require so little effort. So, I’ll join you in making an inspired effort to dress up a bit more and make peace with Southwest summers. I will, however, still dream of a crisp winter day!
Firstly, Audrey you look so angelic in your crisp winter whites! 🤍 I LOVE this outfit on you. I'd like to try something similar myself now ☺️ Second: thoroughly enjoyed this video! I'm going to put some time aside this weekend to get my own '23 planning done :) I also struggle w/ summer... even though I'm in a much cooler climate than you. Thanks for all the inspired content lately.
I really love your hair. I love the length in this video because of your height and size. Your hair looks really long to me right now. The longer is pretty as well and will be a heavier look. You are so cute!
@audrey coyne Thank you for a great video! I really would like a closer look at your trousers. Can you do a video on pleated non-pleated trousers? Love from Denmark
I live in southwest Florida and feel the same exact way as you. I don’t like the heat and humidity. I struggle putting outfits together for this type of weather and finding the right comfortable shoes is laborious. If you find some suggestions that work for you I would love if you would share. I am also on the petite side being 5’2”. Thank you for your lovely videos and inspiration ❤.
Thanks for sharing so honestly. I love these types of videos. I need all the inspo I can get for wardrobe planning; knowing it’s essential and actually taking time to write a plan is another story :-p
I've been in my pyjamas for 3 years since Covid, falling down the stairs and breaking my foot, being diagnosed with Lupus, I'm lucky I can get up and put jeans on for work lol
I can't wait for more summer content! I feel exactly the way you do about summer and I think I'd dread it less if I could come up with some good style options.
ive tried short hair too and it is just not for me - i do find it easier to have longer hair even if the drying time takes longer. great video love your content!!!!
Love all of your posts, they are so helpful. I am on a search for Spring every day shoes now that boot season is sadly ending. I need something comfy since I live in a city where I walk everywhere. Have you found anything you love?
Hi!!! Have you ever done your Kibbe essence? I know you did your colors and the deep tons, and your gravitation toward structured, classic pieces may align with you essence.
I did! I was typed as a flamboyant gamine in kibbe and my facial essences were done in person by John Kitchener and he gave me 50% yin (30% youthful, 20% romantic) 30% classic And 20% Yang (10% natural and 10% high spirited) ❤️ It’s all so interesting!
I’m obsessed with this all-white look on you, Audrey! Incredibly flattering and very “you” 😍
It did have the same effect on me! 🤍 Exquisitely elegant!
Thank you so much! ❤
Agreed. She looks beautiful.
I so relate to picking up easily accessible clothes out of sheer laziness . My 2023 goal is also to be more intentional about my style like I was before Covid
What a lovely video. Your ability to deliver such high quality information without editing your sentences multiple times is unmatched.
I've noticed her unrivalled (or rarely rivalled) talent in this area also. 🤍
Yes she is very eloquent and prepared. Coupled with her speaking voice it creates such a lovely (I'm sure intentional) sense of calmness!

All this to say...
Audrey, your videos are so calming. Thanks.
Thank you so much 🤍🤍
your hair looks sooo nice lately!
I’m on the same journey! I’ve really enjoyed getting dressed properly recently
Love the white color on you 👍👍
Audrey, I really enjoy and am inspired by your videos!
Silky slip-shorts under skirts are my secret weapon in summer!
The all winter white look is beautiful on you !
I never really thought of that! Always living “in the moment”…
I also agree about brown color, it is such an elegant, but sadly forgotten color…
Audrey, I live in Colorado. You would love it here. There’s no humidity and summer is short.
You have this GIFT of being so Calm, and
naturaly l FEMININE, Gentle, TIMELESSLY BEAUTIFUL in your Way of Dress and Presentation !!
You portray THE QUALITIES
OF FEMALE TIMELESS BEAUTY AND CONDUCT

THANK YOU for Being SUCH AN AMAZING ROLE MODEL for the Modern Females !!
God Bless !! ❤
TIMEL
Gosh I love your voice. It’s so soooothing 💗
You r always inpiring me..way u talk tips u give..gives me the move to move from old style to open mind..many thanks💞💞
I love these concepts. Always learning something from you I can incorporate in this season. Such a blessing! Thank you!
New year same great content and style! Your ring is so fabulous!
Wardrobe planning is never boring for me !! Love it and thinking of new combinations with pieces I already have I didn’t think of with your help !!
I still love pearls and I don’t care if it’s in style or not
You keep getting prettier and prettier and prettier. Such a lovely example.
IT’S FOR BLACK PPL ANYWAY! 😅😂
@@dannidell well, it doesn't look good on anyone, but I do mean the nude ones. The colorful ones, I more often see Black girls wearing, actually do look cute, albeit I can't imagine how can anyone function with such nails. Some wicked skills needed.
I love your videos. Your style is an inspiration and I always feel so good about my owning my style when I watch your videos. Thanks so much
When I come home or when I need a moment of peace I open RUclips and watch your videos ❤
Audrey on a Thursday! Awesome 👌 👏 👍 ❤️
That is the best outfit I've seen on you and hope you keep with the relaxed instead of structured look, which in my opinion is too uptight.
The bit about 'fantasy self' shoes is very relatable. Somehow she likes only those shoes that destroy my real life self feet :D
I think the fact that you need softness in your hair to counteract the structured nature of your blazers could indicate you being a soft classic
I am going to go through my Pinterest board and make a new one for this year. Thank you for that idea.
Firstly, Audrey you look so angelic in your crisp winter whites! 🤍 I LOVE this outfit on you. I'd like to try something similar myself now ☺️
Second: thoroughly enjoyed this video! I'm going to put some time aside this weekend to get my own '23 planning done :) I also struggle w/ summer... even though I'm in a much cooler climate than you.
Thanks for all the inspired content lately.
I hate Summer too! I love fall and winter dressing.
Love the mother pearl ring!
I love the white blouse
I really love your hair. I love the length in this video because of your height and size. Your hair looks really long to me right now. The longer is pretty as well and will be a heavier look. You are so cute!
Love your hair longer! Really suits you and is more youthful. (Hairstylist speaking here 😉)
I thought you lived in Boston Audrey. I love Boston and the fact that the clothes I love to wear are appropriate there.
Audrey lives in the South---Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans. One of these 3, I can't remember which. She used to live in New York.
Audrey lives in Charleston, SC
@@schhnan Thank you! I knew it was one of those beautiful southern cities.
Love your practicality that is balanced with creativity
@audrey coyne
Thank you for a great video!
I really would like a closer look at your trousers. Can you do a video on pleated non-pleated trousers?
Love from Denmark
Light color will look good on you and contrasting your dark hair :).
You are so inspiring ! I want to know more about your jewelry collection as well ❤
I live in southwest Florida and feel the same exact way as you.
Great video and very helpful although a bit sleepy..
ive tried short hair too and it is just not for me - i do find it easier to have longer hair even if the drying time takes longer. great video love your content!!!!
What a fun subject. Loved this video and your white outfit, especially the blouse.
Very helpful thank you 🙏.
Love all of your posts, they are so helpful. I am on a search for Spring every day shoes now that boot season is sadly ending. I need something comfy since I live in a city where I walk everywhere. Have you found anything you love?
Lovely and elegant style ❤
Wow, you😊r blouse looks different to anything you’ve worn before.
You are so lovely! Have you considered doing a Q and A video?
I need to know if you own sweatpants 😅
HI! where is the shorter top necklace from with the gold droplet and pear shaped pearl from?
Hi!!! Have you ever done your Kibbe essence? I know you did your colors and the deep tons, and your gravitation toward structured, classic pieces may align with you essence.
I did! I was typed as a flamboyant gamine in kibbe and my facial essences were done in person by John Kitchener and he gave me 50% yin (30% youthful, 20% romantic)
30% classic
And 20% Yang (10% natural and 10% high spirited) ❤️ It’s all so interesting!
