As an artist, I make olive green by mixing black into yellow pigments, which is what Renaissance painters did to make green. So olive is, in fact, a shade of yellow. This makes yellow a very good colour to wear with olive green, and one of my favourite combinations to make an unexpected monochromatic look.

This comment helped me so much, as a redhead, shades of green usually look quite nice on me, but olive is a shade that I've never been able to make work on my colouring.
I look terrible in yellow and black, so knowing that you mix them to make olive... it makes so much sense now why i can't make that colour work!
My favorite combo with olive green has always been pink, especially in a blush shade. I wear it all the time, and it makes me feel like a flower🌺🌿

I would like to add that the warmer the olive green shade is the better it looks with gold jewelry. On the contrary, if it has a cooler tone it will look great with silver ❤

Olive is one of my favourite colours, it goes with practically everything I have because I love the earthy autumn colours. You're spot on with it having that heritage feel to it - a lot of the English country or equestrian styles rely on olive and shades of brown (they don't show the dirt so much, which is why they're used a lot in country styles!) Olive and light blue is a great colour combination, as is olive and pink. And of course all shades of brown and white.

I really love the pop of colour that burnt orange gives to olive/khaki green. Not necessarily lots but accessories. Like hats, belts, scarves, bags etc. Even the right jumper or cardigan, or a chemise can bring life to a mainly neutral outfit.
Must say I absolutely loved all the colour combinations you mentioned, this sums could include some of my top favourites.

Thank you for your point about olive green and sky blue going well together! I have a pair of olive green pants that I love to pair with a sky blue & white crop top, and I never see that color combination anywhere! I love it, it makes me feel like a forest below a partly clouded sky.
I think of a military uniform, khaki and light blue shirt, good combination
I follow color trends because I know there will be good availability in a few that I love and are in my wardrobe palette. I the muted, grayed-down version of this olive color, khaki green. I have a cool undertone and the khaki suits me better than the yellowish olive does, but all darker greens, including military green and malachite green, are currently trending. I have a lot of khaki green in my wardrobe, it’s a great, natural, near-neutral that is so versatile. It works with so many other colors in my palette and I especially love it with pinks, cool reds and burgundies. I’m hoping the lighter shade of khaki green, sage, will be big for spring, along with true navy (I hate that “Dark Navy”, an off-black, that brands pushed last year, it doesn’t work with anything navy or black in my wardrobe and it just looks like a cheap faded black). I know it’s a bit early for us shoppers to be thinking about spring, but it isn’t for brands. I think the autumn/winter trends of browns, darker greens and burgundy/cordovan is one of the best we’ve seen in years. I can’t wait to wear my autumn clothes, but living in a mild climate, the weather won’t be suitable to around November 1. Thanks, Audrey

I like olive green with camel, as Audrey mentioned. Teal is probably my favorite with olive. Coral is a bit more bold, but works since olive green is largely neutral. Fun to see the options here!
In spring I like coral with olive. In fall you could use a really deep shade of coral.
This would be great with bronze or copper jewelry.
I like to wear burnt peach with olive green - in spring and in fall.
Literally wearing a vintage silk shirt in olive green today. I have green eyes so it’s long been a favorite color of mine and I consider it a neutral that is more flattering on me than khaki. I just wanted to share that I also love it with pink!

I think the olive and other shades of green are very good with a lighter wash denim, which is a good color and clothing combination for me in the Deep South. I just bought a beautiful Italian wool blanket. The main color is a blue-grey with a scroll-like dark olive design. I love it!
Sounds gorgeous, what brand? I love a patterned blanket, especially classic patterns like scrolls or Baroque ones. Wool blankets are also hard to find in general. Because they can be itchy, I use one as the filler for a silk duvet, it’s blissfully comfy!🙂

Great video, As many years that I have been watching I thought we shared the same coloring. Boy, I was wrong. The cream and olive you are wearing highlights your warmer olive complexion. My cool, olive complexion looked seriously ashen and "sickly" when I tried to simulate your look! LOL I found a dark olive and grayish white worked best for me and in addition dark olive looks very nice with charcoal leaning in to that English gentry vibe.

I'm a dark winter girl, but I have a "cooler" or neutral olive green blazer (so it doesn't make me look yellow...) which I love wearing over my purple long sleeve bodysuit. It's not a common combo, but it looks great.

Being fair and blonde, I always found it a tricky color for me to use even though I like the earthiness of it my color palette is more spring. I like that you show us different ways to try it. I did just buy a new outfit from it from Chico just last week using that color! I’m looking forward to more inspiration.

Now it you can do this with each season colour I would be able to flourish in using my current closet and any new selective purchases.❤

In my opinion, olive works with everything, because I can't think of any flower (color) that doesn't look good with green leaves. Therefore, I truly and honestly think that every color looks complimentary when paired with olive when I picture it in my head.

Olive & khaki were big back in the 80’s and we paired with red and sometimes purple! That’s why it is considered a “neutral”! It does go with just about every color!

Oooh....olive and light blue. Never thought of that combo before. I will have to try that one. I like olive but as I have a cool tone fair complexion, it has to be a cooler tone olive for me. I have a pair of olive green pants and often wear light grey tops with them. Love, love light grey and olive together. I was surprised you did not mention grey and olive.

your photos were really helpful. I noticed that lighter olive greens that have more yellow look terrible on me if I don't balance it out. I can see now that I should pair them w white or cool colours and stay off adding more warmth 😅
