- Join Joe Rotter from Red's Fly Shop on an unforgettable winter adventure in the Yakima Canyon. Armed with just one fly-the versatile Joe's Mini Craw-and floating in his trusty Watermaster Kodiak named "Old Blue", Joe proves you don’t need a full fly box to catch a pile of dandy trout. Watch as he braves the challenge, lands numerous big trout, and showcases the thrill of minimalist winter fly fishing.

Winter fly fishing is underrated! river all to yourself, gin clear water, hope you had a good one!
Absolutely underrated! Hit the right day and its as good as it gets.
@32:00…”Typical Goat Rodeo fishing with Joe”….Love your classic one-liners…priceless!
Classic
Just had a guided trip this week with Shan and we had a great time! Learned a lot and caught many fish! Thank you Red's!
Glad to hear you had a good time! Shan is awesome!
@@redsflyshopShan the Man!
Just bought my first outfit from you guy out of appreciation for all these videos joe
Thanks, I hope you enjoy it, let me know what you catch!
@@redsflyshop I will have it out (Helios F 8'6 4wt with Lamson Remix) on my favorite native brook trout stream tomorrow
Joe, always love your transparency in making mistakes…good to know you’re human. Enjoy supporting Reds from GA….
Appreciate that! Just another day on the river.
Joe, I really appreciate how you give us the whole experience. The scenic downstream shot was spectacular.
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it.
Alright! I was just talking the other day... been trying to get excited about nymphing again - not much luck. Mainly trying to get my spey cast dialed back in (your trout spey video last year is a go to) before I can get free to go over the pass for coastal steel when the holidays are done. But also just tired of the nymph grind. The crayfish though... I see 'em all the time - love it.
What great video to watch on a Friday. The yak looks so sweet.
Great day of fishing I like go in the winter time less water traffic 😊
It's nice to have the place to yourself for a change!
Long time customer and social media follower of Reds here. Thanks for everything Joe and staff! Question- Who owns Reds?
Thanks for the support, so appreciated. Steve Joyce and myself are the daily partners working here and then we have a handful of partners that helped make our business happen. Super network of great people behind this place.
great vid thank you
Appreciate you watching!
I love these quick trips. I learn a lot, and you always seem to catch a toad.
Fun video! Bought the T&T 3 wt 10ft from you guys a few years ago. It has caught me a ton of fish! Used it fishing a small stream the other day in38 degree water and I was still able
To feel the light eats! Those were some nice bows on the cray Joe!
That's awesome, thanks for the support and the big order. Appreciate it!
Awesome video! Looked really cold. I wonder about the sighter? Seems like it would reduce the feel. Best!
I demo's the Sage R8. For $1050.00 so not worth it to me. For that kind of money you better get a Cadillac. This one performed like an Explorer. I'm so glad I demoed it first.
Do you like to use the loop over a clinch there for a reason? Does it present better, or lead to fewer snags maybe? Thanks for the vid... some great fish in there. Beautiful day in the canyon!
Great question, this is exactly why I like comments. I'll use that mono line and loop-to-loop it into a little Skagit head sometimes so I run the loop. If it was strictly for tight-lining I would graduate it down with a blood knot or double uni.
Great stuff! When using Maxima, what length do you use? Assume it’s Rio Shooter to Maxima to sighter to tippet ring?
Joe, do you have backing on the reel before the Rio quick shooter ? If so, how many yards ?
What kind of gray toboggan is that? I have a hard time finding one that is big enough to go over my hat…
Are you talking about my stocking hat? It's just stretchy Eddie Bauer hat or something like that.
What size of mini cray were you using. great video as always....thanks
He said 8. Pay attention to the teacher this is going to be on the midterm.
#8 sir, it was the right weight. The patterns themselves are pretty similar from size to size, but the weight changes quite a bit.
just ordered 2 of them . Thanks for the video and education.......
Looks like you need those skwala fusion 90 pants. Do a classic Joe review and compare them to the thermo 350s. No in depth reviews of those pants!!
when you are solo floating how do you get back to your car from where you take out ?
Joe is a warrior fly fisherman…he probably throws that boat onto his head and rucks-it back a few miles, up hill 😂
You also forgot your shotgun one day 😂
So true.
