Great teaching !!! Thank you very much !!! Best regards from Iceland :)
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting. Best regards back to you there in beautiful Iceland.
I always preferred river fishing because i have ADHD and it kept me busy and helped clear my brain and lake fishing was kind of boring and could only be done with friends around I’m glad to see that fly fishing will work on a lake too. I’ve called myself a fisherman and have tried to be one since I was 14 I’d never catch anything but i convinced myself that it didn’t matter because it was the therapy I was there for but now I’m 47 and I’m still after that therapy but I’d rather catch something too lol
Ha ha, wouldn't we all!!! Thanks for commenting and good luck with your fly fishing.
Awesome video! I've been fly fishing for about 20 years but mainly fish rivers and have been wanting to do more lake fishing and definitely learned some new things. Thanks for the video and you got a new subscriber.
So glad you enjoyed this episode and hope it helps you enjoy your day on the water more. Thanks for commenting and subscribing.
Excellent teaching! Caught a trout today as you said it was at the end of retrieving and lifted the rod and saw the fish strike the fly.
Fantastic!!! So glad the video worked and helped out. Thanks for commenting...
i'm a lazy lake fisherman. I use bait and sit on my butt. The last trip the boils and leaps got me to thinking about fly fishing again. I did it as a teen, but without any direction it was pretty much a failure. Love your videos.
That's great to hear, thanks. Good luck with it going forward...
Nice presentation, the essentials clearly understood. Speaks to how a good teacher can bring you right in. Thanks.
Thanks for commenting -glad you enjoyed it...
From all the fly fishing videos I watched last years, this really stands out! I really enjoyed it and I will recommend it to my fly fishing buddies at the oldest fly fishing club in Flanders (Belgium). The host does an excellent job (what a natural born teacher he is! - compliment from a teacher trainer ;-)) and throughout the video there's a very good balance between instruction and demonstration. The content is well thought through and strucured in well-defined chapters: very practical to browse. I can't wait to see all the videos... And then, off to the water!
Thanks a lot for your feedback and for commenting. We're delighted you enjoyed this episode and hope you enjoy more from the 3 seasons. Good luck with it all :)
I enjoyed the video and learned much. I purchased a new 5# combo and took it out a couple days ago for a couple of hours, the first hour was just getting use to casting and avoiding snafos, with a little bee fly, the second hour caught a few bluegill. I enjoyed it very much. I'm glad to watch this, as I had sunglasses on, but forgot the hat. I didn't hook myself or anything, but I will wear a hat from now on. In fact I have one very similar to the teacher was donning. I need to get some of that stuff you put on dry flies, the little bobber, some streamers, probably another 6 to 7 # rod, some floating line as the line it came with was the slow sinking. I look forward to spending weeks fishing and perfecting my skills with fly rod. I've fished for decades so I've got other styles down. I can barely wait till I can make perfect casts. Thanks for a very informative instructional video, with the perfect ending.
So glad you enjoyed the video, and we hope you have a lifetime of fun and pleasure through fly fishing
I hope you cover more than only trout in future episodes, for example, bass, pike, walleye. Good for us fly fishers in MN
We have a plan to cover it all, Jerry, but it might take some time!!
@@FarBankany update on this?
From equipment review to identifying different fish and reading the water to demonstrating all the techniques- this video is great. And I have sent it to many.

Excellent primer. Thank you. I’ve had most success with nymph under indicator but I do use all the techniques you discussed.
That's great to read, thanks for sharing!
Very good tutorial , thanks a lot !

Man i love this video, thank you so mucj.
Glad you like the video, and thanks for commenting
Best video ever!
Excellent video. As a new fly fisherman, I enjoyed the great explanations for the different categories pertaining to lake fishing. I especially enjoyed your portion on some specifics for how you actually do some of your retrieves. I’m lucky if I can get a decent roll cast but I’m working on my casts. However, It’s frustrating to see loads of videos on what flies to cast but almost nothing on retrieving which might as well render my fish catching almost a lost cause so hopefully now I can apply some new approaches to retrieving and try to actually hook a fish. Mega Thx !!!
Thanks for your comment, and so glad it helped you out in some small way...
Life time addiction
Thank you.
Great video and tips
Glad you lied it, thanks for watching, and for commenting :)
Great vid as always, but I have a question about the leaders, for nymphs use a level leader but what leader do you use for streamers?
Most of the time a streamer is better with a tapered leader - short and medium stiff, especially if the streamer is large or weighted...
Excellent overview. Like your presentation style too. Have you consider doing a video on float tube fly fishing on lakes? Thanks!
No, but we'll pass your suggestion on to the film team - glad you enjoyed this basic episode, and thanks for the comment. I
thanks for this one.
Great to hear you enjoyed it - thanks for commenting :)
