The entire game was built to be played multiplayer. The "henchmen" NPC followers can replace the necessary players, so that you can play the game with less than optimal amount of players, even solo, if you're able to play patiently and strategical. Idk how GW1 is today, I haven't played it in many many years, but GW1 was my childhood/ teenage MMORPG and I played it when it was still popular. If they didn't drastically reduce the difficulty of the game you won't be able to get through the zones alone (without other players or the NPC followers) pretty soon. It's kinda cute to see someone exploring and discovering this game for themselves. Brings back fond memories. :)
The game got "easier" by allowing you to bring 7 heroes instead of 3, however the game is still challenging and still requires a full party for content. I use quotes because it's down to the player if they want to use the meta hero team comp or roll with whatever they please.
I really like this game and I still play it from time to time from 2005. Mostly during holiday events. Easy to finsh some titles during that time. Feel free to ask if you need something.
I came back from Iraq in 2008. In 2007 I had a buddy in country that used satellite internet. He had GW1 installed on his laptop and showed me GW1 a few times, and it looked incredible for the time. The game was so interesting that I still remember the enemies he was fighting and the general location of his character. Upon getting home I bought GW1, although, at the time I was in a love affair with World of Warcraft. I played a little bit, a necromancer in fact. I remember following a guide to finally obtain a "Flesh Golem" I think? Eventually, I bought into the GW2 beta. Due to my many years playing WoW, I was convinced the dungeon system wouldn't work without a dedicated tank and healer, similar to GW1, so GW2 was a little odd, but what really nailed the coffin for me was how the story was told, the medium ArenaNet used, and how odd the cast of characters were.
This game is great. The most active areas seem to be zaishen quests. You will find them once youre level 20 by going to embark reach or great temple of balthazar.
Absolutely one of the greatest game experiences I've ever had.
