Tbh i just installed guild wars yesterday and thats the first video i watch , your voice makes me feel comfortable and idk y , anyways if i become addicted to this game its your misstep : )
The sylvari are my favorite race ever in anything. First off, I love nature, and sylvari are just beautiful looking magical forest creatures. Secondly, they were just so CREATIVE when doing sylvari customization. They didnt make them look like any other plant races from anywhere else, their hair looks like ACTUAL plants, not just hair with a planty theme. It makes the sylvari(as far as fantasy goes) look like a race that actually exists. I also LOVE the fact that they glow, too! I forever thank whatever genius came up with that idea because I absolutely love it on my sylvari characters, instantly makes them look better than any other race imo. I love putting them in sylvari cultural armor too because the clothes actually glow with them!!! 😍😍😍 I also love the customization range that the sylvari have. I mean, you can make them look like anything. I love that they didnt just stop the skin colors at various shades of green, and actually offered all the colors of the rainbow, along with many different hairstyles. You can make them look like a forest nymph, an edgy badass, a fiery elementalist or warrior, a creepy looking necro, a dorky looking dude with a giant mushroom on his head, an elegant and powerful looking blue guardian, a flowery, dainty mesmer. Literally just pick any theme, and you can do that with sylvari I would also like to give a shoutout to the music in Guild Wars 2. Its the best music in any videogame I've ever heard. I have listened to some songs on repeat for DAYS. They are just so creative and good at immersing you into the game, I even use their music to study. Songs that I really like are, well, basically all of HoT and EoD, Blish's Sacrifice, Eagle's Flight, all fractal music, the Tengu Wall, the Mistlock Sanctuary hub music, and so, so much more. ❤
Three things I personally would like to add to the list: 1) The soundtrack to the game is stunning. IMO movie quality composing by Maclaine Diemer and all the other talented people at ANET, it brings the entire world to life and the passion they have towards the game just oozes through the tracks. 2) I'm a completely solo player these days and it's a game that facilitates that amazingly. The open world events, the ease of using the group finder when I do want group content and the amount of tasks you can do solo (or in a group) is great. 3) The personal story. I fell in love with the game due to it and while the base game arc is not exactly what I'd call high quality it just keeps getting better and better. Highly recommend playing in order, getting to know the other characters but most importantly you the Commander. It's almost all voiced (S2 being the only exception I think, that being a creative decision if I remember correctly?) and while I do sometimes wish we had more quantity the quality is top notch.
I'll just add at the bottom here because Lara mentioned it already- I do want to really emphasise the casual style of GW2. You CAN no-life it if you want... or you can log in just for the new content. What you want to do in the game is ENTIRELY your decision, there's no being forced or pushed in any direction. This does worry some people who get to 80 and ask 'what now?' (see Lara's other vid!) but GW2 is all about freedom. Picking something you WANT to do and doing it. Something you WANT to achieve and working towards it. GW2 could in all fairness signpost your options a little better in game but ultimately the game is what you make of it. Super casual player here that doesn't really do much instanced content these days, logs in every now and then for the new stuff and daily for a few events/the dailies. Even had a 4 year break before coming back in 2019. Currently 10,723hrs played.
Been trying to find a new mmo to get lost in and this video made me pull the trigger on guild wars! thanks for the content :) about to fire up your guide on picking a class
Downloading it for the first time. You've gained a new subscriber here, friend. This game looks awesome, I honestly got chills while you showed the WvW mode.
Guild Wars 2 is hands down one of the greatest Exploration Experiences you can get thanks to how Mounts, Glider and Jumping Puzzles are integrated. I do have to say though that large scale Events start feeling a bit old rather quickly once you realize it does not matter much what you do with 50+ other people carrying the thing anyways.
I just rolled a new character last night Feb 2024 and there were TONS of players in the noob starting zones. I was surprised just how active it still was. You def will not be alone. Players still showed up in mass to random world events. It was a lot of fun!
Thank you so much ma'am for this amazing guide about the game. I've now opened all your links in the description, to learn as much I can while I download the game. I just want to tell you, thank you, for your time to explain everything in details for us new players. Take care
I absolutely hate MMO's... Never got into any of them... Started GW2 two weeks ago, and im pretty much addicted now... Will probably get fired from my job soon
I come back to it (I play City of Heros - glad its back!) also...but GW is such a beautiful fantasy world! That's why I always come back to it. It feels so expansive!
As a new player i was kinda skeptical dumping 100€ for the expansions plus living seasons , but i dont regret doing it , i been playing for couple weeks and i am still in PoF. Past few days all i been doing is WvW lol, even though i am not good at it i have a lot fun roaming around as harbinger , ye not sure if is the best class for WvW but i love it
I am kind of shocked. I have seen guild wars 2 videos before but, this one was so good that I feel like the others didn't show anything. I tried the free version of this game years ago and decided it wasn't for me, but maybe I decided too fast back then. The mounts look aamaaazing. The mass pvp and raid content also look great. The character design and overall graphics aren't really to my taste but the game looks like it can actually be really fun. I guess the only remaining problem is that I have to buy expansions... But really well done Lara, you convinced me to at least try the free version again. Great video!
What sells me on GW2 is the legendary grind and the meta events. I remember growing up and playing mmos like everquest and ffxi and the legendary grind feels so much like grinding out the REMA I've always wanted and the meta events really remind me of when you grouped up to do notorious monster bosses in the open world.
Thank You! You convinced me to come back to this game after a break of several years. I've been thinking about getting back into an mmorpg for some time now and thanks to your video, I've already decided😊.
I tried this on a whim 4 days ago and I'm already level 45 on my mesmer, as a XIV player this is a really nice change of pace and I will absolutely being playing this when I feel XIV burnout, it's a lot more laid-back and I love just taking my team clearing out each zone
It could also be worth pointing out that if PvP is your thing, it doesn't require gear in instanced pvp (not WvW) and is accessible from level 1, so you don't even need to level up a character in order to partake in that activity (you can even level up your character that way) while being on the same level as everybody else.
I just started playing and I’m enjoying my experience so far! Sure, I come across strange events that I can’t handle alone, like sudden shadow portals opening and I have to retreat. But these activities I come across make me curious and give me something to look forward to experiencing!
After playing almost all Soulslikes and cRPGs, I want to try an MMORPG. The art style of GW2 looks very appealing to me, I think this is the right choice for me.
I've been playing GW2 since beta testing. I've had some breaks, but since I finished university and started a full-time job I haven't had much "regular" free time anymore, and for a few years now GW2 has gone back to being my only game that I can play. . Just log in, and based on the free time you have available you have a new adventure to undertake. I love GW2.
I know the comment if 5 months late. But as someone that gets into GW2 in little bits here and there, it's great to see where it's at this year. Watched this as it was patching. lol.
Lots of infomation just Brilliant! this is my first ever time Playing guildwars 2 :),come from WoW so it looks sorta simular to gameplay but now after watching this video i cant wait to sink my teeth into this game :)
GW2 is definitely one of the most fun MMOs I've played, but thats mainly solo. I've had too much trouble finding PvE group content that is in the sweet spot of being difficult enough you can't just run past foes (Looking at you fractals) but can still be played without needing to min/max my build (mainly by just stealing one off the web) and without needing to stick to a rotation (I like playing the game on the action MMO side of its hybrid combat system). Hopefully there's just something that eluded me, but I don't know what that could be.
Loved the vidoeo and it inspired me to give guild wars 2 a try you laid everything out perfectly and I even sent the video to my buddy because he's also interested. Thanks for the great video!
After being burnt out on pretty much all the titles, i decided to come back to gw2, due to its "play at your own pace" mentality. I was quite lost at the beginning due to all the new systems i had to figure out, just when i was close to giving up, I discovered your channel, everything was so helpful and fun to watch. So I'd say, your channel is one of the biggest reasons to play gw2 in 2024. Thank you.
Please scale your video to 2k resolution and then upload. It makes yt take higher quality option and the game footage doesnt look pixelated and it looks crisp just like how you see it when u play it.
I can fully agree with you saying that gw2 is your go-to mmo. I play gw2 since 2012 my grandpa bought me the game then so we can play together with our guild we were in. I was 13 back then and had a shit computer which barely ran gw2 and after nearly 12 years and like 3 new pcs guild wars 2 is a game which is always installed on my computer even when I don't play it for months... But my problem is there is literally no mmo for me which can compete with gw2 so I'll come back and choose a goal like a new legendary and play this game even if it's alone, since my grandpa stopped playing it.
I don't play it right now because I switched to Mac, but people like you would be one big reason for me to play the game. Thank you for your fun content, Lara!
i'm surprised you didn't say anything about the story! in my opinion, core story up until the end of heart of thorns (the first expansion) is a bit boring. but it picks up in living world season 3 and the story quality has definitely improved as the game has gone on (except for icebrood saga due to covid). in the newest expansion, secrets of the obscure, the story is going a whole new direction since the previous story arc ended with the end of dragons expansion. so now is a great time to come play the story! you have hours of old story content to catch up on (if you even want to) and you can also start this new journey with us all. see you in tyria!
Watching this video reminded me why I fell in love with GW2 when I first started playing. Now I can't help but come back and play again And WOW do your hours compare better to mine, 12000 hours, jesus! Time to come back and grind!
Great video ! But on a personal note most of those are the reasons why I haven't bought the latest expansion and played the last one MAYBE 3 hours or so lol... No gear grind , is probably the main reason why I kept dropping off , and the difficult open world (expansion zones) is the other one :p (in mmos I like to get good gear to feel powerful and with no gear progression if something is stomping you , it will keep stomping lol) imo the peak gw2 was vanilla , even had 2 characters with 100% exploration absolutely loved it , but with expansions the story telling changed , adding more and more elite specs which takes forever to unlock fully , and once I did every time I logged in I was wondering why do I even play. And personally I'm a solo player in mmo's so group content does not interest me , so I did what a lot of people do - kept creating alts :p with every expansion a new character and since I already had quite a few it meant buying the exp version that gives enough gems for char slot :P and honestly leveling in vanilla zones was always fun but after 80 and starting to unlock the new spec and I'd fall off again quite quickly , I even bought the previous exp on launch just to get the easier skyscale (never had griffon (ran out of gold about half way through the collection and then just cba) or the skyscale before) but didn't even make it that far lol . Saw the video about housing and tempted to buy again , but I have a feeling I would drop off even sooner this time , plus between work and the new wow expansion probably wouldn't even have time and with no gear incentive probably not worth it.
Smart thing to do in GW2, have 1 of each race, there's a few achievements that require certain races to do. I've been playing for around 6-7 yrs now, just now getting started into legendary armor and weapons. GW2 is my number one game. Cheers :)
I got into gw2 after running out of game time in ffxiv and well, it took me quite a while to go back to ff LOL... I love both games but the level of individuality you can express in your class in gw2 is so wild
Another good point is that if you're a Linux user, or only have a Steam Deck to play games, GW2 allows playing it through steam proton, unlike Destiny 2 or other games that ban you for running it through proton compatibility layer. And the Steam Deck run's GW2 quite well, with the exception of noticeable frame drops on large scale battles you can set it up to run at 60 fps on medium/high settings for the most part, the only issue you will probably find is terrible lag/performance on the launcher in the SD "gaming mode" but if you setup your account for auto login in desktop mode it should jump straight into the game in both modes.
As a returning player in the past 2 months, it is overwhelming how much content this game has. I have 2-3 hours a day to play, and I can say I have never run out of things to do. Between Story mode, levelling different classes, world exploration, jumping puzzles, achievements, world bosses/events, all the expansions, pvp, WvW, and dungeons- I am enjoying myself. I cannot get over how active the world events/bosses are compared to other MMO's. I haven't even touched the expansions, fractals, raids or strikes yet (just got into Maguuma on one character) so it's exciting to see what's in store. My 2 suggestions so far are: WvW and Spvp go from one extreme to another (5 vs 5 to hundreds of players per map. I wish there was a middle ground pvp where there is like 10 vs 10 or 24 vs 24, or maybe even 3 teams of 5 vs 5. Also there was always new character creation options added in the past- I feel like they should continue to add cosmetic options to the game to maintain that variety among PC's (hairstyles, faces, colors, etc.).
I bought the game at release, and it took me 12 years to finally get into it :D Lv65 mastery thief. When I realised the size of the game, I got all expansions ASAP 😇
HI can you tell me if you get the same items for expansions from steam and games website? Does the games website have bonus items? like level up to 80 and inventor add-on? does the steam site not have them? I would like to play the game on steam just for piece on mind. was thinking about getting the ELDER DRAGON SAGA-COMPLETE COLLECTION and Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure™ Expansion when on sale. both items cost the same price without sales. Thank you.
I played like crazy for the first year...then stopped fairly abruptly. For some reason, I had the sudden urge to check out the state of the game. I'm fairly certain now that I'll be making my way back to GW2 soon.
Same. I literally just left a comment on someone's video saying it's my "go to" MMO. I stream it a decent bit. Already pre-ordered Janthir Wilds for Aug.
Guild Wars 2 is my favourite MMO as well. Best open world (because even oldest maps are still alive). Best mounts. Best flying system. Best beast races (charrs are runnig on all four legs! how cool is that?!) Most interesting professions (but I must admit I miss simple light wielding priest class) Not needing to grind gear over and over again. Lots of cosmetics. Most fun PvP content. Lore is very interesting too. The only thing I miss (except priest class) is housing system :(
I haven't played GW2 since last May and i am thinking to come back to it but i cannot decide because i kinda want to play Path of Exile too. Path of Exile doesn't seem as casual tho to me,it can get quite stressful at times, especially when your build doesn't work, your experience heavily depends on the build, every single thing matters but GW2 seems lot more casual because i can just jump in and go around exploring and questing and just have fun so idk...i am more on GW2 side. Thx so much for this video,it came just right in time,God sent you. God bless.

I also love the customization range that the sylvari have. Literally just pick any theme, and you can do that with sylvari
I would also like to give a shoutout to the music in Guild Wars 2. ❤
Three things I personally would like to add to the list:
1) The soundtrack to the game is stunning.
Been trying to find a new mmo to get lost in and this video made me pull the trigger on guild wars! thanks for the content :) about to fire up your guide on picking a class
so howz your experience so far???
Downloading it for the first time. You've gained a new subscriber here, friend. This game looks awesome, I honestly got chills while you showed the WvW mode.
Guild Wars 2 is hands down one of the greatest Exploration Experiences you can get thanks to how Mounts, Glider and Jumping Puzzles are integrated. I do have to say though that large scale Events start feeling a bit old rather quickly once you realize it does not matter much what you do with 50+ other people carrying the thing anyways.
You should have mentioned that the mounts are only available in the paid expansions.
I love this OST from EoD man... They nailed the whole soundtrack for this exp.
I just rolled a new character last night Feb 2024 and there were TONS of players in the noob starting zones. I was surprised just how active it still was. You def will not be alone. Players still showed up in mass to random world events. It was a lot of fun!
Just now looking to get into the game, this video was a massive inspiration and help! Can't wait to dive into your Picking a Class vid next!
😂😂😂
This is most welcoming back to game. TaKe a break and joi back anytime where you left. Builds skill always change so UR not missin thing out
I come back to it (I play City of Heros - glad its back!) also...but GW is such a beautiful fantasy world! That's why I always come back to it. It feels so expansive!
I'm playing GW2 for 2 years already, but this video made me love this game even more 😂
As a new player i was kinda skeptical dumping 100€ for the expansions plus living seasons , but i dont regret doing it , i been playing for couple weeks and i am still in PoF.
Past few days all i been doing is WvW lol, even though i am not good at it i have a lot fun roaming around as harbinger , ye not sure if is the best class for WvW but i love it
Harbinger is my go to roaming class in WvW too! Celestial gear on Harbinger is so strong
Love how accurate the Thief cosplay is at 10:59
The more I watched, the more I loved the idea of the game. You made me download this, thanks
I play for combat, it's the best on the market. After 10 years, I still hang out in the PvP lobby and keep on enjoying the game.
Very nice! Haven't played in a while but this video gave me some urges to log back in soon.
omg TY , I WILL TRY IT RIGHT NOW!
I think your video finally convinced my friend to play. I've been trying to get him in this for years.
I play Guild Wars 2 for 12 years now its just the most beautiful world of all MMOs.
The fact that there is always something to chase but never a pressure to do so is huge.
I started GW2 for the first time 3 weeks ago and it's the best choice I made, I needed this
At 3 minutes, I’m sold. It looks fantastic
I haven’t played for almost 10 years. Just started couple days ago again playing! 😃
I started playing yesterday after a 8 year break I really enjoy playing gw2 so many new things to work on.
Thanks to you I realized there is Canthan symbols on the book you read when using the emote. More logograms to study 💛
Ive never seen any of your videos before, but good job, cause this video sold me, im downlaoding guild wars 2 right now. This actually looks so good
After being burnt out on pretty much all the titles, i decided to come back to gw2, due to its "play at your own pace" mentality. I was quite lost at the beginning due to all the new systems i had to figure out, just when i was close to giving up, I discovered your channel, everything was so helpful and fun to watch. So I'd say, your channel is one of the biggest reasons to play gw2 in 2024. Thank you.
No other MMO has NPCs running to you to tell you something is happening in the world.
The thing that made me happy in this video was seeing Lara fighting Fatalis
I played GW2 for a year when it launched and considering reinstalling. Great video! I liked and subbed and will watch your other videos.
Please scale your video to 2k resolution and then upload. It makes yt take higher quality option and the game footage doesnt look pixelated and it looks crisp just like how you see it when u play it.
Loving your content Lara! i just picked up the game and it's what WoW never gave me :)
thats' it. I'm downloading this game tonight.
I can fully agree with you saying that gw2 is your go-to mmo.
I play gw2 since 2012 my grandpa bought me the game then so we can play together with our guild we were in.
I was 13 back then and had a shit computer which barely ran gw2 and after nearly 12 years and like 3 new pcs guild wars 2 is a game which is always installed on my computer
even when I don't play it for months...
But my problem is there is literally no mmo for me which can compete with gw2 so I'll come back and choose a goal like a new legendary and play this game even if it's alone,
since my grandpa stopped playing it.
Thank you. This guide was extremely helpful when choosing a new mmo after wow.
I don't play it right now because I switched to Mac, but people like you would be one big reason for me to play the game. Thank you for your fun content, Lara!
You can still play on Mac with GeForce Now :)
I am not an English language speaker, but your voice so clear, i can easily enjoy those videos. Thank you 👍
You've forgotten two of the most important reasons to play.
One: Awesome fashion options.
Two: A rather excellent musical instrument system.
The game also has some really beautiful ambient instrumental music. One of the only games whos soundtrack I listen to even when I'm not playing.
Installed Ty for Vid. going to check out your class guide. :)
i'm surprised you didn't say anything about the story! in my opinion, core story up until the end of heart of thorns (the first expansion) is a bit boring. but it picks up in living world season 3 and the story quality has definitely improved as the game has gone on (except for icebrood saga due to covid). in the newest expansion, secrets of the obscure, the story is going a whole new direction since the previous story arc ended with the end of dragons expansion. so now is a great time to come play the story! you have hours of old story content to catch up on (if you even want to) and you can also start this new journey with us all. see you in tyria!
Watching this video reminded me why I fell in love with GW2 when I first started playing. Now I can't help but come back and play again
And WOW do your hours compare better to mine, 12000 hours, jesus!
Magnificient put together video, also transpires optimism and joy!
I bought the game at release, and it took me 12 years to finally get into it :D
Lv65 mastery thief.
When I realised the size of the game, I got all expansions ASAP 😇
Lekker Nederlands accentje hoor. Ben vandaag begonnen met GW 2. Ben benieuwd.
Thank you for this video. I'm searching for different mmo to play. I'm downloading it right now and will play later for the first time.
My uncle bought this game for me like 10 years ago, my computer at the time wasn't good enough. Is it too late to get in on the action now?
Really good and comprehensive overview, presented in a fun and snappy way. Well done, Lara! 😊
Thank you.
Currently on a ESO burn out right now, giving GW2 a try and so far I am liking it. I easily see myself spending thousands of hours on it.
Best beast races (charrs are runnig on all four legs! how cool is that?!)
Most interesting professions (but I must admit I miss simple light wielding priest class)
Not needing to grind gear over and over again.
Lots of cosmetics.
Most fun PvP content.
Lore is very interesting too.
The only thing I miss (except priest class) is housing system :(
I started reading Guild Wars books and I see....IT'S A MMO GAME??? SIGN ME UP BBY. (I just downloaded the game too lol)
God bless.
I install thise game after 2 days ago, i start whit a thief i have fun but im soooooo sooo sad that i runing thise game at 30fps and i try so many staff to have at least 60fps but nothing hapend... Im stuck at 30fps and can do nothing now... 😢😢😢😢
Aight seems like Iam heading into Gw2 now. Seems like the Game Iam looking for x3
i liked and subbed when i seen the 12k hours in one game lmao respect
You call 12k hours of Sametime respect? That's crazy.
I Started in December, it's pretty fun!
