Ooh great video I used to have this tent about 18 yrs ago it was one of my faves tents of all time ! I used to like all the shelves inside for storage and the way it was so sturdily built . Good u still have it for reminiscing about good camping times ☺️👍👌🏼
Is one of the best tents I've had, likes that it stands so tense with a little flutter on when it blows. It is also easy to walk around with the previously set up and try different places
That tent holds legendry status after pendle Hill, I would send it off to Scottish Mountain gear when they re open, they are the Hilleberg approved repairers in the UK but they repair all other brands as well, I want to see another Pendle Hell haha.
Nice one Chris. As I said on Insta, I gave this tent to my mate but, we still use it when we're going 'Brokeback' style. Usually split it between us, so it's not such a burden to carry. Is bomb proof as you say and really nice to be in, with all the bright panels and loads of internal pockets. Great bit of kit👍🏼
Sort of thinking along the same lines as you two.OK it does seem to be a bit on the heavy side, but, it does look like a genuine two man shelter, unlike other models that make the same claim but fall short in actuality. Under the right conditions (as per that Pendle Hill trip with your mate Walshy) I can,t imagine anything better. Just wondering, would you say that it,s weight exceeds that of two individual tents such as a Vango Banshee and a Coleman Cobra?
@@gordonmonaghan133 I would guess prob'ly heavier, on account of the numerous poles and non-lightweight fly. If I remember rightly, it's circa 3kg. BUT, have always split it with fellow camper, so becomes circa 1.5kg #win
I would certainly feel safe in this tent. Loads of room too and like other people have said, it withstood the Pendle Hill horror so that’s good enough I’m my book 👍. Hope you get the seams sorted bud.
Heh Chris, yeah I still use mine! Had many adventures in it including the tail ends of a couple of hurricanes in North Devon. I use seam sealer when needed plus occasional paint-on Fabsil silicone to reproof the flysheet. You need to let it air for a while after as it stinks, but it keeps the tent going. Not sure I'd rely on it like I used to but still OK for general wet weather use. Good luck!

Great video Chris, as your aware I bought the Trango 3 second hand last year, I've currently set up in the garden at the min, I wasn't aware it could be 20years old. As with yours the seam seal has perished, looks like dandruff inside lol. You can by seam sealer that you paint on apposed to the tape, there is loads of you tube vids out there to prep and reseal. If you want the truth it was your Pendle Hill video that swung me to find this tent, only downside is the weight at 6.5kg lol. I'm not to far from you mate if I find anywhere local that does seam sealing ill let you know
Hi Chris I have a Marmot Asgard 3 man tent which had the same issues. The Seams were Flaky and the inside of the fly sheet was tacky to the touch. I looked everywhere for a cure and came up with this, Firstly I store all my flysheets in separate bags that are loose and breathable (I use those thin green breathable bags that people put over largish plants and pots to protect there plants from the frost). Coat the inside of the flysheet with talcum powder and place loosely in the breathable bag for about a week or so, If you repeat this a couple of times it reduces the tackiness until as with mine it goes . Then you can use ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL on a small cloth along the seam to remove the flaky seam sealer, I also had to do a lot of scraping with my thumbnail to remove the really awkward bits. It is time consuming but worth doing well. Once all the old seam sealer is removed I put the tent up in my garage with the flysheet inside out on top of the inner and with a small craft glue brush I then put a thin line of seamgrip seamsealer (a large 250ml tube) over the seams. If you can get your hands on a large syringe even better, I filled the syringe with the Seamgrip and use the syringe and craft brush for a neater job. Leave this for 48 hrs, if you only have 24 hours the seam sealer can still be tacky and will need to have some talcum powder sprinkled over the entire seam. After all this I gave the outside of the flysheet a coating of Fabsil Gold. All this worked for me and my son in law and myself have had many a stormy night dry and secure in the Asgard since with no problems. I hope this is of help. Steve

I reckon you can just re-seam seal it Chris. The waxy, flaky stuff is the old seam sealant. I'm no expert, but you'll probably have to remove the old stuff with some sort of solvent and then re-apply fresh sealant. It's a great tent so it'd be a shame not to use it.
