- So a different video of sorts. It was a nice day and it was on my "to do" list so I figured I would take you along. If the guide wires need tightening I may add some turn buckles to make things easier.
Thanks for the back to nature video Tom. That is some beautiful country there.
Thanks Dave. Hope you’re doing well.
Thanks for taking us along Tom. Lucky birds got a sweet condo 👍👍👍
Thanks Ron. Got to keep busy. Going crazy not having a shop.
Taking care of ornithological housing. That's much appreciated. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks Michael.
Sounded like that was a tuff job.
Not too bad, just hot.
Nice job I need 1 my self. A bat motel and a Martin condo bugs are already bad here in Alabama. I think you could have used any 8' step ladder.
God bless and you and the family stay safe my friend !
Thanks Anthony. Yeah I have an 8 footer just didn’t feel like dragging it out. I
forgot to mention, the support vehicle was my favorite part! Good to see a vid from you Tom, thanks.
Hi Tom. Anything that gets rid of mosquitoes is great stuff. The Jeep sounds great
Thanks. Healthy V8 under the hood.
Tom, you do some real nice work. Good on you for providing some much needed shelter and protection for your purple martin friends. They need us human folk to survive.
I hope you don't take offense to this recommendation, it's not meant to be anything but helpful. It's very important to do regular checks and maintenance on all martin condo's. Looking for mites, disease, maybe dead birds, removing nestings of birds your condo is not intended for, such as starlings and sparrows. The most convenient way to accomplish these maintenance checks is by lowering the condo to eye level to open the doors and look inside. With those guy wires attached you've made the condo installation rather permanent and difficult to service. In addition, purple martins like the swaying motion of their nests. It's much less attractive to predators such as starlings and sparrows when the condo is swaying in the wind. Most martin condos are on poles with either a pulley or hand crank winch system.
Best of luck eliminating those pesky mosquito's.
Thanks for the tips. I have a 8ft ladder I can use to check on things with. The high winds we get here the pole would be bent over the first big gust we had so the support wires are a must. Hopefully there is a Little Rock to it to make them happy. 🙂
Boy it's beautiful out there. Most of the year it's all brown out here.
👍
Thanks.
Love the t-shirt and the content!
Should have been a lot higher They prefer to be higher up
It has been working fine so far. :)
I see you have the " Shop Life '' suntan !
Yep. Only second day wearing shorts. 😁
Eat more garlic for mosquitoes..😁oh wow..I have the exact same house. They seem to love it even though its plastic..
I expect to see the new floor next week
Would you believe it’s supposed to rain all next week? ☹️
Tom -- Nice to hear from you, finally the weather will allow you to move forward with your shop. One question.
Is the Red Shirt you are wearing waterproof ?? Because your Hat is a pisser.
👍🤣
Nice work on the condo install...what to do with an old missile silo? but a bird house on it!
Thanks.
Fingers crossed - Your contribution to Mother Nature is appreciated and reciprocation bestowed.
13:50 Where's a 12' Werner when you need it?
;-)
I have to take issue on this method. Martin houses must be lowered and raised many times during nesting season for maintenance. A pulley pole or crank plus nest doors that open and close for pulling out sparrow and starlings, treating for parasites is only way to go. Otherwise you're just raising the problem competitors and killing baby Martin's that could more safely be raised elsewhere. Sorry. Please rethink stationary house and guy wires.
I use a step ladder and clean out the house once a year.
Dang you’re like me and need a hat, don’t worry about those white legs they will darken up. Neat way to mount a purple Martin house. By the way that could have been a silo, grain bin, or a round corn crib base.
First day I have worn shorts. 😊 Yeah definitely need a hat on a day like today.
3 gallons of fuel was used in the production of this video😂
Yeah. Thanks for watching Bill.
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 Bill is just jealous.
Travis 👍😄
