the Troyer gourds leak alot of water inside the nest from the tunnel/push pin. I use lexel caulk around the tunnel and push pin, they are the best gourd I have ever used. what you have there is vertical, horizontal is 14 inch. deeper. the entrance is the Conley 2. always put the top push pin in first. you did a great job excellent video.
some anti depresion medication stops pain . its use for people who lost limbs to get rid of the chost pain . also fich oil does relief pain in your knokkels .
This is great, Jerry, thanks. Very enjoyable to watch. We rarely see Purple Martins here in the UK, only occasionally in the northernmost parts of Scotland. 😊
@@that_thing_I_do starlings are non-native invasive bird, that kill our songbirds over nesting cavities. they're not protected by law also house sparrows are not either. both were brought over from Europe, starlys 1890, House sparrow 1850.
Until today I had never heard of a Martin House, or a gourd house, what is the purpose of the gourd shape? And is there a particular reason for wanting birds to nest in your property?
Martins eat lots of bugs. Especially large flying insects, e.g. horse flies, mosquitoes. They like the gourd shape. Some say that goes all the way back to the native Americans using gourds to house martins. I kind of doubt that part.
Jerry, did you put something on the ends of the rods to keep the gourds from sliding off. Is it even necessary? Also, if you put a "V" cut in the top of the riser tube and a peg on the post, it will keep the riser and the houses from twisting back and forth, in the wind. It's too late for this one, since the pole is already up.
Can you add details on the pole the used? You mentioned it was about 20 feet long. What gauge is it and the diameter? Looking to do the same thing here in Texas.
When I saw the word "Martin" in the title, I wondered what in the heck did you need a gourd pole for an acoustic guitar? Stay safe, Jerry!
Me too, thanks for the chuckle.
Keep the martins happy and they’ll keep coming back. Have to keep adding more housing,
Being a Martin landlord takes a lot of dedication
My favorite bird here in St.Thomas ND...population 250.
I'm beginning to wonder if there is anything that Jerry can't nake! Love this Martin house!
Nice Martin house setup Jerry!
That was interesting. Good use of integrated pest management.
Never a dull moment at the Rosa Ranch.
How about putting a camera inside or perhaps on the pole so you could film the martins (I'm sure you don't have enough to do Jerry! ) 😃👍👏
Very nice project.
Very nice. I look forward to seeing the birdies!
Looking good there Jerry.....
Really looking forward to the vintage Gibson gourd pole vid!!!
What a wonderful thing to do. I would love to see some footage of the Martins using the nest boxes when they arrive.
Well done sir!!

Fascinating, Jerry!

Cool. Maybe take off the winch handle, weld on a socket and use a battery drill to raise and lower. 🤘🤘
Very creative Jerry,Cheers.
It looks like a carnival ride. Just needs a motor to make it spin. :)
I truly like your all inclusive format. You'd be a Johnny One Note if all you did was luthier repairs. I love the wild birds, even noisy starlings.
In Missouri, it is year round open season, on starlings.
Starlings! Oi!
@@zapa1pnt I hate starlings too.
@@zapa1pnt Are they regarded as pests then or just irritatingly noisy birds?

The houses are bolted on the the houses cannot twist because the cable is stiff enough that it pulls it directly under the pulley

“What the hell is a Martin gourd pole mandolin?” Well now I know.
