Because it is not country. The first eight bars are old time banjo, beyond that the instrumentation is all wrong. Not only that, but flinging a bunch of popular country buzz phrases, with no real connection, or actual point is not how true country songs are written. Most every country song ever written has a point. Many tell a story. Some just focus on a particular emotion or event. But they all have a point. Further still country is seldom vulgar. This is rap/hip-hop in disguise. A very thin disguise at that.
This is clearly a dance tune. Nothing wrong with that. It is not bad, just not country.
It would be like adding actual real instrumentation (you know people playing real instruments like guitars, keyboard, horns, strings etc) and harmonies to RAP. That would never be allowed. And if it is not littered with MF this and that, and bitch hoe it will not be considered good rap.
Nobody is saying she should not be allowed to produce whatever she wants. Just do not call it something it is not. That is really hard for some people to understand. Maybe they don't listen to the lyrics and instrumentation. Most are not country fans to begin with, so transforming it to something they like seems acceptable to them.

    • @mimig474
      @mimig474 5 месяцев назад +7

@@courtneyr6645 funny you sound like the people who said in the 40's,50's,etc " Not country music"is what you think as "country" like Johnny cash,Waylon Jennings,Willie Nelson,Hank Williams,Bob Wills, etc which was scene as Not country and "a disgrace" LOL All that C&W music all stems from blues &Jazz which all stemmed from Black entertainers. Problem I see is the white community I hear complaining are all saying "they" which obviously is stating that C&W music is "whites Only" while sometimes outright stealing & or profiting off the black artist who either wrote, influenced, performed many hits & never getting proper respect for the huge contribution black, native, hispanic, etc people have made in C&W music. So YES it is country music by it's own definition as defined as (NOUN) a form of popular music originating in the rural southern US,popular vocal music characterized by simple harmonies accompaniment by stringed instruments, repeated choruses, and often narrative lyrics. Her songs so far follow that definition.

Music is for everyone, and I’m glad you enjoy country music as well! Beyoncé is from Houston, and her mother is Creole. There is no way that she didn’t have exposure to country music as a kid.
The history of country music can trace its roots to African American folk-music, blues, creole, bluegrass, and Appalachian music. It also has influences from Tejano music and other music too depending on the region the artist comes from.
It’s history is that of a blue collar working person, and some people seem to have forgotten that.
If Beyoncé can bring more people into country and give it the revival it desperately needs, I’m 100% behind it. She has a great voice and the song is a fun and catchy tune.
Is it your “traditional” song? I’d say that country music isn’t of one tradition, but of many. Personally I’m not a fan of the modern “bro-country,” but to each their own.

No we are not going to gravitate to all music, but we don’t have to be mean, just don’t listen to it. One thing I’ve found is, as we grow older our taste matures, we mellow out! But one thing for sure is, everyone loves a song that makes you want to dance, be you 5, or 105, your soul can’t help but be happy!

I find it hilarious that the people who say “it’s not country” can never articulate why it’s not or even what country music is…Beyoncé is a southern woman born and raised in Houston Texas, she herself is quite literally country!! She’s making it her own, there are currently various different styles of country. To the people who say this isn’t country…..you’re exposing yourselves and your biases. This song is quite obviously country, stop saying otherwise cause you aren’t a fan

I hate to admit this and I know i will get a lot of flak, but I feel the opposite.
I liked Taylor swift because she was country( i personally love all types of music) and was mad at her when she left.
I think that she was pretty and used country to build her fan base and when she got what she wanted, then left and never looked back. I may be wrong but i just felt she was fake in country and she was really another type of singer.
I would have respected her more if she just started in the genre she is in now and not used country.
I think anyone adding to country is great. Let's face it. Country turned into 70s rock a long time ago and now is country pop.
I've gotten used to it. At least Beyoncé is famous already and really doesn't need to prove she's awesome. She just is.
Now she trying to share her art to a different audience but she's not going to leave the people that made her a star.

I almost think she is trying to show Taylor Swift she can change genres and own it to. I really see no harm in it as long as its country music, and not this crap they call country today, just some moron with a southern twang singing about pickups, tractors or the country backed by the tired dull boring sound of click beat in the background. My cousin took 6 country songs from the last 5 years and stripped them to the music, mainly the beat, you almost couldn't tell them apart. Maybe she will bring a freshness to country that's needed. Of course, most white people think country was all white invented....WRONG!!!! Country began in the Appalachian Mountains around the 1920s, when Irish, Scottish and English folk songs were blended with black blues, which were basically given birth to from slave and black gospel. It was basically at first what we know today as Bluegrass, but the more the blues which was 100% black was learned the more the style was incorporated into the genre. There were very early recordings, but the first well remembered people recording country was Jimmie Rogers, which many called the Blue Yodeler and the Carter Family. Some people say that yodeling was European and indeed it was true, from the Swiss mountains from herders. But it also sounds a lot like the yell of black gospel slave or even some blues. The Carter family were always given 100% credit for their music. Maybel Carter claimed to have invented the Carter Scratch, a form of playing where you do the bass and treble on one guitar by what some call chicken picking. But little do many know the whole sound of the Carter family was popular because of a black man that A.P. Carter became best friends with by the name of Lesley Riddle. Many people said he taught them how to sound and play, many get mad a denied it. It was the mountains, and the 20s and 30s, and racism was still a normal way of life then. The Scratch is very similar to how blues was played, and Riddle had played the blues his whole life. But he and Carter were after the music itself, and to keep history of it as well as keep incorporating the genres together to bring together what is known as country. Any music fro America, aside Baroque, Polka, waltzes and opera, is based on black slave, gospel and blues. Big Band, Ragtime, Jazz, Rock and Country were mainly black. I had a buddy laughed and said blacks had nothing to do with blue grass. I asked him what it's played on mainly. he said a banjo. RIGHT, I said, and that's an African instrument, and Africans taught whites to play it. He still thinks I'm lying. So, if a modern-day black girl wants to sing country, I say go for it, your ancestors helped create it.....

Obviously she had it in her for a long time to do this kind of music. Instead of BASHING her , why can’t they welcome her if her music is top hits and popular. Country music is not owned by ANYONE! Who decided that black people are not allowed to perform country music and CROSSOVER to Adding Country music to their platform. The Country music industry treated CHARLEY PRIDE LIME CRAP AND DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM UNTIL HE WAS NEARLY DEAD OR DEAD. JUST DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR BY RACIST WHITE PEOPLE WHO STILL THINK THEY ARE ABOVE AND BEYOND PEOPLE OF COLOR. WE WERE COWBOYS FIRST AND EVERYTHING ELSE AND HAVE RIGHT TO BE INVOLVED WITH COUNTRY MUSIC. I know Beyonce is trying her hand at country music, I listen to this song of hers and personally it's not bad but it doesn't sit right with me. Because even though you add Banjo 🪕 and/or Fiddle/Violin 🎻 to song it doesn't make it Country, even adding Steel Guitar or a Mandolin probably work either. This is sadly why artist like George Strait, Alan Jackson and the Late Loretta Lynn questioned the state the industry in; I admit with some songs I'm trying write, I'm try too keep some of old and bit of new in it. I guess more because I listen to 90's/early 2000s Country music and that mostly my heart goes to, some of today are good but I also understand the origin of things and why I work so hard; mostly due to learning from past generations that if you want something in life, you have to work hard for it.

Honestly with a lot of country songs becoming more like pop than the older stuff, it's not a surprise that more people are crossing over. I do like the song Texas hold'wm as it's catchy and I wasn't even aware of it being Beyonce to begin with. That said, I am holding out to see how her album does and where she goes with it as I have seen some do great in country and there's others who shouldn't go that route. So I think her music will need to speak for itself.
Also, I know Dolly is a fan of music in general and really, I can't blame her. The more wholesome music we have the better. But I am just not sure how she will do since it will be a lot different than her usual work. Which is why I am waiting because honestly, we all know it takes more than one or two singles to really be good at country.
But I also understand why some artists are upset. Because there is some singers who are so iconic in their genres that it would be devastating to hear them switch. Can you see Brittany Spears as a country singer? I know I can't. How about Eminem? Beyonce was one of those but she does have the vocal range for it. It's just a matter if she has the heart, emotions, and twang for it. Because good country music.... Has that country twang.
