Awesome series Chris! I was about to go in and start on my 68' with a vinyl kit that I bought. I was just going to wing it, but I'm glad I checked your channel first!

I would appreciate the fact that they offered to restore the beetle, but I'd want the same one back! Maybe she that she always wanted a 66 but they were sold out so she settled on a 67? That's why they have her the 66! 😂

Where do I acquire those "large plastic fasteners" for the 60's headliner you mentioned? The PO of my 67 installed 3 point seat belts and the passenger side door post has one of those fasteners but the seat belt top strap was bolted on in place of that fastener on the drivers side door post. I want it to be stock so I need to find another one of these fasteners.

67Loowit_scarab You would have to look at local swap meets or on thesamba.

Thanks ,I would have been lost without this video. i installed a 6 piece TMI vinyl in a '65(i think) My tips; Don't trim anything until you have it glue down- be careful where you cut.
I used a 5mm neoprene as under-felt- Don't! What you see can see of your under-felt you can see with the vinyl stretch over it, like a cock under Lycra- that is not a good thing!
I ironed the wrinkles out with a steam iron, on the under-side of the vinyl, that helped.
I don't have grabbers above the doors, none of the bugs I've seen here in OZ have, that made for a interesting bit of trimming.
I do have a question-how do you not cut through the paint work when trimming the excess around the windows?
Also, I think you should mention how dangerous this job is, the knife has to very sharp and the temptation is to stick in your throat, the only thing that saved me was the thought of blood stains on the ivory coloured trim and the patience of my girl-friend.
I took solace in Chris saying you should buy 2 of the vinyl kits to allow for F-ups
    Thanks again. Peter

So a 1950s VW Beetle had a quality of interior you would expect to find on a Mercedes, Jag, Bentley etc., Makes the plastic cr*p on a modern Golf look pathetic.
    What about early cabriolet headliners?
