This is a 6 parts series on How to Install a Multi-Piece Headliner for 1963 and earlier VW Beetles. These videos are also on my site tinyurl.com/pmj... in one spot for viewing convenience.
Hi Chris. Just picked up today my 1st beetle. A clean 66 that I found up in the mountains in Puerto Rico. Survived last years hurricane and now she is in good hands. Before I bought it, I went thru all your videos on restoration and so on. With that being said, thanks for motivating me to get it.
Very cool my friend, you are very welcome. Would love to watch your progress on it. Good luck with it.
Chris thanks for sharing this series with us! Great as always! Installing one in an early 1955 oval and this has been a tremendous help! Keep doin what you do in keeping old VW’s alive!
Chris thank you for ur headliner installation videos. They helped sooo much
you are very welcome
Best step by step instruction video i have watched big thank you
I have ben doing all types of upholstery for 30 years and found your videos very helpful!
Vw de lujo es un auto hermoso en verdad que estos autos tienen angel y con una conexión entre humano y máquina algo mágico saludos desde México.
Great tutorial Chris! I haven't seen a step by step this thorough. Makes me wanna try it myself.
i guess I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch new series online ?
Good advice about taking a break and enjoying a cup of coffee. I would also suggest having your smallest friends help with the interior.
It would be nice to have a video discussing the original fabric and batting. I’ve seen a few old originals, they had batting with acid that burned the fabric when in the sun.
When you see bunching in the headliner it is from it not being sewn properly.
Great Video Chris, I really appreciate the time and effort you put in.
Great videos Chris! I will soon try this at my 56. Thank you! :=)
Excellent tutorial Chris, thank you very much for sharing!
Parabéns pelos video, eles me inspiraram a fazer tapeçaria meu marido e eu já estamos terminando um Fusca 68
Parabéns pelos vídeos Chris Valone! Muito legal!
Good Evening Chris I hope your doing well. How easy is it to remove the centre section of the headliner without damaging it.
very thorough and easy to follow awesome effort
Excellent Job! I was fascinated! Thank you;
Fascinating, interesting, and informative. Great job. I am building a '69 and would like to know if the same headliner system can be used for my Bug?
Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Not this style, no. I will be doing a video for later bugs soon.
Hello Chris Vallone
I wonder what the measure of the central lining ceiling VW BuG
GREETINGS here from Brazil
Love your headliner video! Where did you get that tool to tuck it all in?
Very nice
Hope I can apply this to my 1965, Chris!
Maybe some things, but the 65 has a different style headliner.
would a TMI vinyl headliner from Jbugs have the plastic strip around the perimeter of the main rectangle of the headliner kit? also great tutorial :D i will definitely be referring to it for the installation of my headliner.
They should yeah, as long as you get the multi-piece kit.
thanks Chris for this vidéo, I have to put one on my split 1950 and it will help me a lot!!!! ;)
Hi Chris! Great tutorials, I just did the padding, looks great! Can you please help with correct measures of a central roof piece? I have '54, suppose the measures are the same as '56 from your video. Thank you and greetings from Croatia!
yes they are the same measurements
Chris Vallone I meant do you know dimensions? How much inches lenght and wide? ;) Tnanx for your quick answer and sorry for bothering.
Hey Chris Im very enjoy ur channel !
one question, now I have Beetle 69, Do you think is it a good idea if i modified the 66 wheels to fit 69 ?
Hi Chris -
Greetings from England, excellent detail in your video, but how do you keep everything so clean when you are spraying glue near your finger ends, then handling the cloth and pushing it into recesses that may still be dusty and so on. I find it very difficult not to leave gluey, dirty finger marks, but then I am an amateur! Any special tips, especially as I have to remove and replace the original cloth headlining on my 1956 Daimler soon, in order to renew the windscreen and backlight seals.
Regards - John Davis
Ya know I am always washing my hands, and trying to be very careful not to get them dirty. Trust me, over the years I have made mistakes and have gotten things dirty, you live and learn, so next time around I got better.
Chris Vallone nice job i watch all your videos for the headliner and still watching more vids...you know how to paint ?
I don't paint the cars if that is what you mean. I paint the little stuff, rims, shifter, ebrake, etc. But the cars? No I job that out.
Chris Vallone yea thats what i mean cause i have a 70 bug and i want to do it ...and i was hoping tha you can give me some tips
Chris Vallone thank you for taking your time to answer and i really enjoy your vids helps a lot

Great interior, from the days before the invasion of PLASTIC ! just compare your lovely assist strap and hook with that from a 1969 bug and CRY !
I tossed my bows accidentally. I though damn i may need them as the trash truck was driving away. I looked online and they ate about 10 bucks a piece. I was thinking about using ceiling grid hangers from home depot
Welding rod can do it too.
Like hoods door guts any thing body wise
