I too would like more pillows. I love making blocks, and like to try different block patterns. Your tip about using your hand to spin the block is very interesting. I'm going to try it! I'm not a big applique quilter, so seeing straight stitch on an applique project is very inspirational!
Thanks for the pillow tutorial and how you did the appliqué. I like how you made it work with a straight stitch machine. Yes, more sewing videos! It is nice to do different projects in between piecing and quilting sewing.
Thanks for another great tutorial! I would love to see more pillows or other small projects. They are great way to use up scraps from other projects or to make a quick gift.
Thank you, great video! I would love for you to make more tutorials on pillows ❤ This pillow and the one you showed Saturday would be so much fun to sew!
What a fabulous use for this template! I love the sunflower 🌻……I may have to make one today😊 I would love to see more pillows….I use lots of pillows in my home decorating ❤
I've never used the blanket stitch on my machine but like the look. Where exactly do you start for the stitching to look right? This newbie has learned a lot from your videos. Started "teaching" myself during covid and yours was the first I found.
Wow, I just downloaded the pattern using my laptop. Q: pattern says to trim at 17.5 inches. So what size pillow form should I purchase please? Delighted as can make something fun using the new template I recently got in my So Sampler box and make a much needed fall pillow. What a perfect choice! Thanks Kimberly and staff for such a great idea. This will be my weekend project.
Hello! The dresden technique may still work, but the size of the Dresden wedge and number of wedges you need to finish the block will likely be different.
With the regular 5-inch Dresden Tumblr template work? I have one and I hate to purchase another one that I probably will never use again or at least not for anything else.
Unfortunately got error code 404 when using link to free pattern. Did a search on the FQS site and only found the kit. Great instructions on video so I probably don’t need the print out….but wanted to give a heads up since you have a link and describe it as a free pattern.
@FatQuarterShopTX it wasn't a problem with my cache, as I had just cleared it before watching your video. The link is working now But wouldn't work last night. Thank you.
Hello MsAngie! The bobbin is typically the same color as the top thread because your machine tension will never remain perfect. If the colors are the same you don’t notice the change in tension, but if the colors are different then the bobbin can get pulled to the top or the top thread can get pulled to the bottom showing the two colors.
Yes lets make more pillows. This was a fun one.
I too would like more pillows. I love making blocks, and like to try different block patterns. Your tip about using your hand to spin the block is very interesting. I'm going to try it! I'm not a big applique quilter, so seeing straight stitch on an applique project is very inspirational!
Yeah Kimberly!!! You did it!! LOL I love Dresdens .... soon you will be hooked!
Really Love the White on White used for the background. Kate Spain fabric is just lovely. Thanks for stepping out of your Comfort Zone!
Love seeing all the different pillows, recently! I'm going to be busy this winter.
Thank you for this tutorial. Pillows are fun and a quicker project when you need a feeling of accomplishment. Sometimes quilts take awhile.
Would love to see more pillow videos and smaller projects. It’s the perfect time to show smaller projects we can make for presents.
I liked the Dresden sunflower...would also love to see more pillows--especially smaller sizes.

Pattern worked for me at 7:20AM CT. Nice fabric colorway and use of template. Thanks FQS for the video tutorial
Very clever! I like it when a "specialty template" can be used for more than one technique! Thank you!
I enjoyed this and enjoy a shorter tutorial and project sometimes! I would like more tutorials on making quick projects.
Thank you Kimberly, what a great pillow, well done on the Applique.🤩

Absolutely love pillows! You did an amazing job, Kimberly! Thank you so much.
Love pillows. Thank you ❤️
Thank you for ALL the tips!!
I like pillows!
I would sew the circle then cut.😁
Yes that’s Lori Holt’s method…to sew on the line which is easier than cutting on that line. Then trim and turn.
Love the pillows. I just finished the recent Mini Patches Pillow. It’s beautiful.
So pretty. I like to make one but I don't have a dresden template yet....so that is on my wish list.
I love pillows
Loved the pillow.
Love pillows!
Love pillows😊
You make that look sew easy!❤️

Love the Dresden sunflower! Question, Kimberly, what pins to pins do you use? Your pinning looks so easy. The pins must really be sharp!

I've never used the blanket stitch on my machine but like the look. Where exactly do you start for the stitching to look right? This newbie has learned a lot from your videos. Started "teaching" myself during covid and yours was the first I found.
Hello Terri! You can start stitching wherever you'd like.
Great idea. ❤ How I camn made the pillow without the acrylic template.
I cannot wait to make a few. Unfortunately the pattern isn't coming up when the link is clicked.
Hello Sharon! Please try clearing your cache.
Hello Quiltgram! You can any size that you would like. If you want you can go smaller or larger depending on how you like your pillows to look.
I have a "standard" tumbler template for 5" blocks. Will this pattern still work using it?
Hello! The dresden technique may still work, but the size of the Dresden wedge and number of wedges you need to finish the block will likely be different.
Not able to download pattern: We're sew sorry we can't seam to find.........
Hello Karen! Please try clearing your cache.
I had to go "incognito" to get it...........clearing cache didn't work for me :(, but thank you@@FatQuarterShopTX
Not able to find the pattern
Try again. It wouldn't come up for me at first either but does now. 😊
❤ pillows please teach us more!
With the regular 5-inch Dresden Tumblr template work? I have one and I hate to purchase another one that I probably will never use again or at least not for anything else.
Hello Maryann! You can use any template that you'd like.
Unfortunately got error code 404 when using link to free pattern. Did a search on the FQS site and only found the kit. Great instructions on video so I probably don’t need the print out….but wanted to give a heads up since you have a link and describe it as a free pattern.
Hello Mollie! Please try clearing your cache.
Plese give us a correct link to the free pattern. Thank you.
Hello Eileen! That is the correct link. Please try clearing your cache.
@FatQuarterShopTX it wasn't a problem with my cache, as I had just cleared it before watching your video. The link is working now
But wouldn't work last night. Thank you.
Oh okay. Maybe it wasn't turned on when you first tried it.
Yep pattern takes you to an error page, I searched but can’t find same free pattern just the kit. 💐
Hello Tracy! Please try clearing your cache.
🌻🩵🌻
The link does not take us to the free download.
Found it! Click on the description of the video
Why does the bobbin need to be the same color?
Hello MsAngie! The bobbin is typically the same color as the top thread because your machine tension will never remain perfect. If the colors are the same you don’t notice the change in tension, but if the colors are different then the bobbin can get pulled to the top or the top thread can get pulled to the bottom showing the two colors.
