Beautiful work! It’s definitely clear that you took the time to study the techniques for the fittings and wrap so that you could do it properly, and it shows! Excellent craftsmanship sir.
Just one suggestion - when it comes time to finish the _katana_ , perhaps put two _meguki_ in it, not one. I realise that one is the preferred classical method, but your _katana_ is generously apportioned and a little more blade security will still look properly fitting
Definitely stronger but frowned upon by the purists. I try to slowly manoeuvre through the minefield that is the japanese sword fan base. You would not believe the amount of insults and even verbal attacks I had since I started my learning curve. I always delete hate remarks and try not to let it get to me but it was worse that I imagined. Funny thing is that the art of the bladesmith and the accompanying focus and "way of life" is in my eyes all about letting go of ego and slowly become a better smith. Preferably in multiple styles.
@@freerkwieringa275 You can't please everyone all of the time! Katana fan-boys are rabid when it comes to anything that even resembles a katana. They are the quickest to complain, and quickest to pick everything you did apart. I've seen this 5yr olds behavior on other Smiths videos, and it can be enough to keep a great blade Smith from ever wanting to build an Asian blade again! I would really like to see your version of a Jiang, or any of the Dao swords!

Fantastic bookend to this series! Looking forward to the next one 😁👍🏽

Beautiful work, very nice.
The stepwise progression as you add more of your own craft to these pieces is beautiful journey, Freerk
Good job! very elegant koshirae, now it only needs a saya to keep the blade safe from rust and scratches
