Hearns was a living weapon to be able to be threatening all the way up the weight class ladder. He had an unmistakable character to his jab and his overhand right hit like somebody shot a boxing glove filled with rocks out of a cannon. I remember seriously wondering if Duran had been killed for a second the first time I saw that fight. Great movement for a man so lanky as well. Certainly deserving of his throne among the Four Kings.

My favorite fighter of all time. Nobody even comes close. Not only was he an absolutely terrifying puncher, but he was an incredibly underrated boxer as well. He could bang from the outside, he could slam your head into the rafters with uppercuts on the inside, and he could outbox you if he had to (see the SRL fights). I haven't watched your video yet but stoked to when I get home.

My favorite boxer of all time. Beautiful style. Otherworldly power. Tough as nails. I love this man’s jab but the clubbing right closes the show. He beat leonard, who I also love. Leonard was able to score on the cards with late round flurries that probably didn’t. Even land but looked like they were landing. The first round against Hagler was LEGENDARY. Absolute killer. They don’t make em like this anymore, my boys.

Just imagining how a 19 year old Hearns would and could decimate pretty much all of todays current crop at 147. To me that was peak Tommy...whwn he fought Ray..he was already killing himself to make 147..but a year or two prior to that..he knocks Ray out...I dont even think spence, Ennis or Bud could go the distance with that version of Tommy...maybe Terence idk...but the way he decimated Top class welters like Clyde Gray, Espada and Curry. IMO 19 year old Tommy is akin to Prime Roy, Ali when he was still called Cassius, and Ray Robinson in the 40s.

Prime Tommy could beat all of the welterweights and SW's of today. The only thing they could do is hope to drag Tommy, into the later rounds. 12 or more. That's how Sugar caught Tommy. Tommy was winning their first fight . You see Sugar's eye 😲Tommy came out of Konk gym. Emanuel Stewart.

I sometimes trained at the original Kronk's gym when i was younger. Pop's and i would leave Chicago and take the drive to Detroit. When i tell you Tommy was better than life, that would be an understatement. He wasn't the first champion to hail from Kronk's...but, him and Gerald were indeed the coldest. As i got older and seasoned, i felt Tommy struggled with 3 things. 1. He let his long reach keep him on the outside and never quite perfected an inside game. 2. He was notorious for punching himself out of big fights. 3. Stamina issues, which cause him to have defensive meltdowns. I love him...but, Crawford is the only person i see @47 who would smoke him.

I fought at 165 amateur middleweight and light heavy. Then he had a right hand with the power of the Gods in it. Amazing jab. Id imagine a very tough nut to crack. Why i think SRL is so amazing to beat somebody like Hearns and all the other kings. Edit yo thats funny we both said hand from god or gods lmao

    2. Film Study is back!!!
Hitman could box, punch, and brawl. The whole video I could hear Teddy Atlas screaming about fighters from the 80s lol. Tommy and Hagler are his favorites and for good reason. RIP to the 2 fellas you built a significant chunk of this tape outta, they entered the ring and took those punches so we could learn from them decades later.
On a side note: Glad to see Wilder back but the footage of him on mitts don't excite me rn. I'm not privy to what all he's doing in camp but ik he's shown us this exact type of footage before, just to get in the ring and only look for one punch. I would've been more excited to see him working on an educated lead hand or maintaining a tight guard while weaving under punches/steeping back, and using lateral movement. And when he steps back it's rear foot first. Footage Combining that educated lead hand with all those defensive drills would've been something new. Robert is crafty. And he's got a better Ring IQ than Wilder which gives him that craftiness. He's in there looking to take away the opponents game plan. He just don't got the durability or power & explosiveness that Deontay got. That high level of athleticism. I'm not calling him the greatest choice of competition but he is very well capable of upsetting Deontay in there. He was picked for the obvious reasons and I think this is a great matchup for a comeback fight, so I'll be seeing if there's anything updated or more of the same from Wilder.

Hearns was a damn freak out nature to have that size and be able to cut to 147. The avg welterweight is probably around 5’9 or so, having a 4+ inch advantage in height and more than that in reach always put hearns at a tremendous advantage in welterweight. Top that off with equally tremendous skills, speed & power and it’s no wonder he’s a HOF’er.

I think he would've given Floyd a great fight at 135. Ken Buchanan as well. The 1970s-1980s was the most talented filled era of boxing

One of my favorites. Honestly how do you see a Floyd vs Hearns at 147/54 ? Stylistically one of the worst styles match-ups for Floyd to me. Duran another one considering Castillo, Maidana fights when both are not even close to the level Roberto Duran in fighting

SRL is a tougher matchup for floyd than Duran imo. Hearns is a nightmare matchup for floyd.
