Damn, then I have neither set to instinct yet. Thanks for giving me my focus. If an offense comes easier, I feel more confident in that so I need to get very mindful of defense while sparring and shadow boxing. Is my takeaway.
As a fighter I appreciate you so much for this, putting words to my thoughts in the ring,to better help me in meditation, and not relying as much on instinct if that makes sense 🤷🏾♂️
This was a work of art, amazing execution on this one. Chris… good stuff bro and gems 💎 the channel getting more lit. Keep it coming bro 💯 💪🏾 great content fam
I got this whole video categorized with notes on my phone lol but watching it again - It seems to me everything before evasion is not covered well in many training videos, gyms, analyses, etc. Edit: many things pertaining to “inactive” I have to seek out from smaller channels and specialist. That’s the most I gained from this video - the power of forcing inactivity. Ineffective is obviously important, but the Inactive portion of defense through offensive like measures is abstract thus hard to teach and blessed to have it shown to us. Really like the footage alongside Chris’ narration - helps a lot Truly high level and a great mnemonic devic( i and i ) to help with implementing this concept of two methods that set the foundation for the rest of the tools into your training, coaching, or just appreciation of the sport
I’m just at 4:05 and it’s all factz♟may I add a solid strategy can enhance physical capabilities. having a defensive strategy can aid defensive skillset it will require less thinking creating more calmness not wasting unnecessary energy, especially if the strategy is having success knowing your spots, traps, escape routes, escape maneuvers etc ✌🏾
Man what a great video. Your boy touched on a bunch of different topics with just the right amount of detail and backed it up with some serious knowledge. More!
some good points, nice to see people putting in the time studying, reflecting, and understanding things. I really liked that you put psychology and morals into the equation......as everything starts with the energy of thouhgt. Greetings from europe
Wonderful work as always. Please do a video on one of the all time greats David Tua. I know a lot of people would love his style I have personally been trained by David here in little old New Zealand. He by far has the best left hook of all time and has never been knocked down in his career. A fight between him and Mike Tyson would be as exciting as Hagler/Hearns
Bro u must read my mind just this morning I'm saying to myself defense is key in any sport I'm a basketball player but I also absolutely love boxing and kick boxing I never got the chance to box but I practice on my own and video like this will help me alot I would like to do sparring as a side hustle so I can bring out the best in who ever I may work with thanks much
Beautiful work! Your breakdowns are so valuable like gems, but it’s also visually stunning like a gem! 💎😉👏🏼🙌🏼 Also, I noticed that Canelo and Boots Ennis like to use that rear shoulder roll in a few defensive sequences. This made me think of that back hand defensive ‘flaw’ of Devin Haney that you pointed out in the open stance matchup. I was wondering, should the rear shoulder roll be more widely adopted? Like it’s not a traditional move that is taught by trainers, and is more so a flashy type thing to do, but what do you think? Can the move become a staple of the game? Y’know, be more widely used as a legitimate defensive manoeuvre rather than just a flashy trick? It could help Devin’s backhand guessing issues in the open stance because whether it’s a straight or a more looping left hand, the rear shoulder roll can deflect it to the inside. But at the same time, the regular lead shoulder roll is already hard to do as it is.
I actually see the best team sport to compare to Boxing as Basketball. There’s pretty much 1:1 similarities with the difference being more athletes on the floor.
GREAT GEM VIDEO👌If I only knew this channel before!!! I've got one thing I wish you had shown in this boxing defence video 😉☝️Ali use to box in reverse, therefore putting his defence with his offence. Sort of win/ win situation. Imo it's a dying art in boxing and I wish fighters like Ryan perfected his defence with this particular move. Ow yeah, look at TBC pivots, it's the same pivot as in the LOMA video. But in correct execution. KEEP UP LEARNING ME ABOUT BOXING BROTHER, GREAT CHANNEL!!!😀✌Amsterdam salutes
@@BoxingGems you see☝️me learning boxing! *check pivot*. I thought LOMA introduced it or rather his poppachenko. Now I know the name and can watch TBC putting it into his fights. That's exactly what I'm here for. Training methods ->fighting styles. Evolution of the sweet science. THANKS bruh✌
My inside fighting defense is pretty tight. Occasionally my opponent gets a body shot in yet that’s where I let out some gas and then they run from me the rest of the fight. 😀
this is extremely sound analysis and categorization of the system of defense or how to lower your damage taken in a fight. Next thing would be deep analysis of the intersections of these categories; like how your guard position can make it easier to make reads by making certain attacks more effective for your opp, but with you already knowing this taking advantage of the openings that you’re giving is easy, great example is Floyd’s pull counter or Salvador Sanchez lowering his lead hand and raising it at certain timing to better anticipate his opps 1-2 , so he could counter with his 4 (right hook).
Shoutout to Chris! Excellent, excellent job fam! 💪🏾

Thanks fam. That move is very situational and requires tremendous core strength, reflexes and upper torso movement. I wouldn’t teach it.
Like football a great defense only supplies your offense. It works miracles you're 100% correct. No defense you're going to get caught

what is the difference between disengagement and spacing?
Spacing is the distance between you and your opponent at a given time. Disengagement is the attempt to create more space between you and your opponent
