I just want to say a big thanks to Rhino and New Order for putting these videos on here in high quality. So many of the 80s music videos on RUclips are in awful 360p quality (or worse!) and it's nice to see a band/label caring about how these videos are seen by the fans.
The best 80's bands knew how to start a song, this is no exception. The Cure the same for me. The instrumental at the start is great, building into the song.
I remember, as a kid, finding a discarded cassette on a path near my house. It had been unspooled and scattered about, so being the community minded 13 year old I was, I picked it up. I took it home, let it dry out, and then undid the case and respooled it all. Aside from a few scrunch bits, it was in pretty good shape. Good enough to stick in my tape deck. It was a mix tape of the top 40 from some time before, recorded off the radio, and this song was one of the tracks on it. So began my love for New Order. Thank you, random litter bug!
This is such a great song. New Order experimented with many sounds. I think this one, True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle, Blue Monday ... They had such a great sound on these songs.
Jesus Christ, this is amazing. I love his pissed vocal. I started listening to Blondie, a-ha, depeche mode and good Polish eighties music and now I discovered New Order. Great music never dies
This one was he one I went to in my head when competitive racing years ago... its never enough until your heart stops bearing, the deeper you get, the sweeter the pain.... brilliant motivation...
@@randomkeir I'd finished college and was taken back on that April by the job I'd been laid off from (the economy was still showing strain from the early 80s recession),and doing evening classes.
I remember this as one of the first extended remix songs on vinyl I purchased right before CD's hit. The mid-song break with the left to right clicks was THE BEST! Thanks for so much music when I needed it most.
This song is just pure rapture for the eardrums Yes there is pot of treasure at the end of the music rainbow and when you find it . The band is called New Order. So need more bands like this 2022 desperately.
Shellshock foi a primeira música do New Order que eu escutei, fazia parte da trilha sonora do filme "Pretty in Pink" (A Garota de Rosa Shocking). Foi paixão a primeira vista!
Temos que agradecer ao saudoso John Hughes que meteu New Order três vezes em Pretty in Pink: Shellshock, Elegia, Thieves Like Us. Foi por causa desse filme que eu descobri Elegia, aquela obra prima da melancolia que o New Order compôs.
Not to take anything away from New Order, but it is noteworthy that the song is plainly mostly the work of John Robie and Arthur Baker. All the swishy keyboards and all the percussion, has their fingerprints all over it. Who, in turn, just about wrote the blueprint for NYC hip hop, buy also most composing, and producing, the seminal hip hop tracks by Afrika Baambaata. Funny how the music industry has a genre of these relatively little known artists, who turn out to behind some really big things!

This was when New Order really wanted to be brilliant, though their best studio album wasn't until 2005's 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call'. I do, however, recommend listening to the C90 version of the 1987 'Substance' compilation if - like me - you're lucky to be under 35!
My Pretty In Pink soundtrack ate itself in the late 80s and I lost this gem. Isn't it great to find almost everything on RUclips?
Loved that soundtrack! I had a tape too.

I cry every time I hear these songs from my youth. Two more weeks and I will get to see my childhood idols live. Thank you for your music!

Oh some poor chap lost their supermix#3
Nice story 🙂
This is such a great song. New Order experimented with many sounds. I think this one, True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle, Blue Monday ... They had such a great sound on these songs.
Tell me how this amazing song has 116.000 views? Any shit in nowdays can reach 1 billion and no one can be better than New Order... The world is crazy
it's cos there are a zillion versions and copies out there and this one has only been up for a while, and doesn't pop up first.
because its actually shortened and its not as good as the cut on substance, cutting the breakdown out of a new order track is 😩
the video of the band tuning their instruments probably doesnt help

Ah-ha is not good 80's music, trust me I was there. Check out Chameleons up the down escalator.
@@mindyschock1660 I love 'I' ve Been losing you', manhattan skyline, swing of Things. These are golden mate.

Do you have any recommendations for 80s Polish music?
Got this on Substance, that album never stops growing on you. This one is terribly underrated!!
Watched Pretty in Pink last night and was reminded of this great song.
goodness, 80s music unfortunately will never be repeated
Such a great song with the band all involved…it always gives me the chills
why won't 80s music ever be repeated? -j from my wife's RUclips with her permission.
Today i saw the movie Maxxxine and this song was playing, one of my fav New Order songs
Definitely got that 80s new york breakdance feel. I feel like doing some popping and locking now.
I guess they picked that up when recording/remixing Confusion
Non-Latino Freestyle club music. Nice!
This song is in one of the late scenes in Maxxxine.....Full 80's Flashback!
what scene?
@@gdwlaw5549 The next to last scene when she's walking into the premier of her movie. The instrumental intro notes play.
Saw them at Ultra Miami, didnt know they were on the card! NEW ORDER & THE cure forever!
So fitting too since Ultra is named for the Depeche Mode album!! Real recognises real 😍

Their ' old school'...beautiful. Their best stuff , remembered forever.

ANOTHER TIMELESS CLASSIC! 80"S MUSIC RULES!! the dj
Hadn’t heard this since high school until today. Damn, I forgot how much I loved this song!
Been playing it these past few days on my journey of revisitation through the 80s,which has reached the spring of 1986. Been too long no hear.
@@rjjcms1Mind Blown! Spring of 86 is exactly what I’m thinking when o hear this song. Second semester of my junior year of high school.
@@randomkeir I'd finished college and was taken back on that April by the job I'd been laid off from (the economy was still showing strain from the early 80s recession),and doing evening classes.
Listened to this song EVERY morning getting ready for HS and every weekend getting ready to go out n cruise the strip ❤️
My favourite New Order track. Top shelf.

Song titles would be helpful, thanks 😊
Before this song came out New Order had already collaborated with Arthur Baker for the song "Confusion".
Whoa. Major VHS warp at the beginning. Funny how something like that is cool now.
This song is omitted on Apple Music! The rest of the soundtrack is on there except Shellshock! I don’t understand it at all!
This song!! They were EDM!! ❤️
thank you uquiz for introducing me to this
