Lilia's routine is still special, opening with a forward element named by her (only a handful of gymnasts competed it afterward) and ending with E acro.
Lilia is the Queen of front tumbling. No one does it as perfect as she did.
Школа Советская !
@@user-ip8gx6ep2zor just super original with two front handsprings.
Sheremeta’s routine was so amazing
Sheremeta's routine is so delightful and fun. I never want it to end.
Agreed! All of Ukraine's lineup had lovely choreography but Sheremeta's was just delightful. Much in the spirit of oksana omeliancik's tweety bird routine
Had the competition been anywhere else the crowd would have been eating out of her hand. It's a bit sad to hear the dead silence.
Thank you for these unforgettable moments, a true gift to us 🙏❤️
I loved Lilia
olmg thank you so much olympic channel
beautiful routines for Ukr, my scores are Knizcnkik 9.5 ( 9.9 start value), Zelepepukina 9.55 ( 9.9 start value), Shapornaya 9.7 ( 10 s.v.), Cheremta Mirgorodskya 9.8 ( 10 s.v) and Pokdopyeva 9.75 ( 10 s.v with 0.,1 penality)
Knizhnik started from 10.0
@@mchur001 are you sure? isn't a+d, d , d+a and ended with a c?
@@Marketoromagnolo Yes, 10.0 sv. she had .6 with whip to tucked full in (.1 D, .1 indirect A to D), front full (.1 D) rudi immediate front tuck (.1 D, .2 direct D+A) .1+.1+.1+.1+.2=.6 indirect A+D was .1 and direct A+D was .2 bonus in that CoP.
@@mchur001 what?? 0.,2 bonus d+a? a front ful punch front was 0.3? bonus?
@@Marketoromagnolo Direct D to A got .2 bonus. Indirect D to A got .1 bonus.
So the rudi immediate punch front received .2 because it was a direct combination and it changed direction (rudi lands backwards and then she reversed direction by adding the punch front) So, yup Knizhnik started from 10.0
I miss Oleg Ostapenko.
Wow, @3:30 that triple twist to punch front is really pretty.
I wish Sheremeta made the floor finals here!
Why didn’t she?
Is it just me or sheremeta's music is the same Listunova used in 2021?
El equipo ucraniano hizo un gran trabajo en Atlanta especialmente Lillia 👏👏👏❤
Так школа та ещё Советская !!!
US was on the bars during this time. Assuming the loud cheers was on dismounts and score posting. Also the georgia dome amplified the sound. I believe Romania's coach was worried about how loud it would be during this session and voiced it ahead of time.
Train your athletes to block out the noise and it won’t be a worry. I’ve been to track and field meets with 75,000 screaming fans- substantially louder than this- and the athletes were unfazed. Every Olympic gymnastics competition has had a huge amount of cheering and it hasn’t bothered anyone.
Cuándo subes el de Rusia??????
Olympics is jealous with Russian gymnast 😉😉
As an American, I cringe and keep it on mute. There were as I recall complaints about the level of the crowd noise. I can’t remember if there were any guidelines put into place, I thought I read something of that area of US being a tremendous sports oriented and it just the natural response.
So sad to see these amazing gymnasts looking so miserable most of the time, not warm and friendly even to each other, almost like robots, glad to see more gymnasts showing emotion nowadays.
Ever heard of concentration and focus? This is their first event. They loosened up on their last event.
Waooo, espesc
Frumoasa echipa Ucrainei.În plan secund, minunatele românce evoluau la barna! Publicul oribil🫤
Ugh. As an American looking back on this competition, I'm embarrassed. The crowd is absolutely cringe-worthy and entirely disrespectful. Obnoxiously loud cheering during other athletes' routines and flat out not cheering and barely applauding for anyone who is not an American. I hope we do better as spectators in 2028.
As a non American looking at it, I see absolutely nothing wrong.
The crowd was there to see the world’s best gymnasts in competition, and there’s nothing wrong with cheering and being enthusiastic. The athletes train to block out the noise- the ones who want to win anyway. Rio was just as loud if not louder, and people don’t complain about them. We have nothing to feel shameful for because our fans were excited- remember also that much of the crowd was foreigners too.
As an American, I agree. We are the absolute WORST at sporting events and this was uncalled for. Zero mitigation was done & I feel bad for the other athletes. It was a CLEAR spectacle that showed favoritism. It’s cringe worthy 100%
I would argue that things have changed and there is the particular region of the US these competitions can take place to consider. Granted, the US has not hosted an Olympics per se since (in that a large number of spectators at these smaller competitions can be big fans of gymnastics in general rather than solely the Americans), there have been several gymnastics competitions hosted in the US including Worlds, World Cups, and Pacific Rim to name a few and the difference has been night and day.
The 2003 Worlds not 10 years after this where athletes of all kinds of countries were supported by the crowd were in Anaheim, and the 2028 Games will be in the same general metro area. My favorite example of crowd support from the 2003 Worlds would have to be for the Sri Lankan gymnasts' floor exercises (upon witnessing the level of difficulty being completed, it'll make more sense).
@@saragrant9749 "No one complained about [Rio]", anyway Paloma del Rio (the Spanish commentator) expressed during the men's floor final (where the crowd cheered at the errors of Kenzo Shirai and Sam Mikulak) that she had never seen this behavior in all her years of covering Summer/Winter Olympic Games (context: Rio was her 13th), and that she found it embarrassing, dangerous to the athletes, and not in the Olympic Spirit. While it's typical to expect this for football, fortunately, this was a relative outlier given the crowd was much fairer during other finals before and after.
Also Ana Sofia Gomez BB QF.
Notice how the audience will not clap for other competitors 😢
Every gymnast the entire time:😐
am I the only one annoyed by those rude American crowd?
So yeah, the American crowd was very pro-USA because they were hometown crowd. But at least the crowd was not actively booing gymnasts, cheering for them to fall, or laughing and applauding when they fell. The crowd was very appreciative of the other gymnasts in all around and event finals, they were just super excited for the US Ladies and rightfully so.
How come Lilia’s leap into a round off looks so much more fluid than the rest of her team?
How these young athletes can even complete their careers is beyond me. With all that is happening in their homeland it might destroy their concentration but they did wonderful.
This was from 27 years ago.
В 1996 году все было спокойно
Советская школа видно лучше была и выглядят они лучше
Ces cris sont insupportables et déconcentrent les filles aux sol.
Beautiful. This team deserved a medal in Atlanta. Was there ever a more partisan, less knowledgeable audience in gymnastics? 1991 WC perhaps? Oh what damage has the USA done to gymnastics? First the lack of appreciation, then the sport degraded to acro, then Nassar and a cult of win at all costs epitomised by the fake heroicism of Strug lauded so brainlessly here. Yes, Ukraine deserved a medal here - RUS, ROM, UKR, USA was the real finish.
No they did not.
USA in 4th? You are out of your mind. They were obviously the best team in Atlanta and the performances demonstrated that.
While I agree that Ukraine deserved a medal, I think USA should have at least medaled in Gold or Silver.
I agree that the Americans were overscored, but if you want to see an EGREGIOUS example of overscoring please look no further than the Romanians, especially their compulsory routines.
I personally believe Ukraine most definitely deserved a medal at these Olympics. Overall I do not think that Ukraine deserved to beat USA because Ukraine did have some stupid silly mistakes in optionals. In the compulsory round though, Ukraine deserved to be far ahead of the US. Most of my frustration was in Compulsory and a couple of optional scores mostly on floor and bars, and beam. Vault was fairly scored here (expect in Compulsories)
