    You could really tell she wasn't having the greatest day ever, but she fought so hard for this title and completely earned it in the end. Vault was a scary event for her considering her issues in TF, but she worked out all the kinks by AA. On UB I think her callous ripped during her opening hecht transition and she still had to do the rest of the routine - it must have hurt like hell! On BB she had a very hard landing on her crotch during the Rueda which was a bit off, but she covered well.

    I noticed that for the first time, too. It just shows you the imperfections in gymnastics judging ... but because the gap between her and silver medalist Gina Gogean was substantial (by the standards of the sport, 0.18 is), I'd say that the faulty score of 9.887 awarded to her FX didn't make a difference. Lilia was still the deserving winner.

    @JLFAN2009 12 лет назад

    That's not the point. Rather, it was that her routine wasn't as flawless as the score of 9.887 would indicate (a little more than a tenth away from perfection). As somebody below posted, these videos show form breaks in Lilia's routines (floor and elsewhere) that the NBC videos did not.

  • @gk891
    @gk891 10 лет назад +12

    Not the biggest fan of Lilia in that I found her gymnastics to have somewhat of a heavy quality, especially on UB and BB. I also found her form overly rigid and locked in and her choreography on floor to be kitschy (others are free to disagree of course). But credit to her in being able to rise to the occasion and deliver the goods when it mattered because that's what a champion does.

    • @JamesFrew1
      @JamesFrew1 6 лет назад +2

      gk891 I agree. At some point this is a gymnastics competition, not the ballet. She had incredibly beautiful lines, but I question the difficulty level of some of her routines. You can’t tell me that her beam set was anywhere close to the level of difficulty of Dawes or Miller, and she was way overscored there. Still, she hit when it counted, and Dawes fell apart.

    • @shushunovafan4301
      @shushunovafan4301 6 лет назад +14

      Podkobyeva blew Dawes and Shannon out of the water as far as difficulty is concerned whilst being so artistically superior at the same time. What are you even talking about.

    scoring at this olympics was messed up.
    i agree that lilia was a deserving winner, as she was clearly the best. but her scores are wacko. how on earth did her bars score more than her vault?
