  • My personal Favorite floor routines in WAG. Sorry it's so long, it was originally supposed to be 10 routines but there were just too many I liked. Even 15 was difficult to narrow down to. I also only allowed 1 routine per gymnast.
    So a shout out to all those routines that just missed my top 15!
    Daniella Silivas (any routine).
    Nastia Liukin (2005 worlds).
    Yelena Shushunova (1987 worlds).
    Oksana Omelianchick (1987 worlds).
    Shannon Miller (1993 worlds).
    Tatiana Gutsu (1992 Olympics).
    Tatiana Lysenko (1992 Olympics).
    Tatiana Groshkova (any routine).
    Ludivine Furnon (2000 Euros).
    The entire Russian Team (2000 Olympics).
    Bridget Sloan (2009 Worlds).
    Sui Lu (2011 worlds).
    Ksenia Afanasyeva (any routine).
    Aliya Mustafina (2010 worlds).
    Dina Kotchetkova (1994 worlds).
    Svetlana Boginskaya (1989 worlds).

    The dance that the gymnasts performed from the 80s was so original and cool. I am glad in the (2022-24 COP) that they are bringing back the artistry into the sport.

      I absolutely love the new code for floor.
      Carey is a magnificent tumbler but I’m glad gymnasts like Chiles and Gadirova have the possibility to outscore her Uber difficult routines with superior creativity and dance. Andrade too, she’s a great mix of power and artistry.

  • @finfelagund

    There are 14 super solid routines (as the respective gymnasts simply mastered the floor and could deliver at almost any occasion) and 1 miraculous routine (as the gymnast in question always struggled on the floor and this was the only bright and glorious exception). The miracle being, of course, Komora´s Olympic AA exercise. It wasn´t sufficient for gold but that is another thing.

    • @shushunovafan4301
      @shushunovafan4301  6 лет назад +51

      Absolutely, Komova's floor has always been very inconsistent (except 2010 which was really good), so when she pulled this out the bag in London, I was speechless. Whether or not you think she deserved gold, I think everyone can agree that Komova cemented her place in history with that exercise. It was magnificent.

      It was amazing, she was the last competitor and even that, she was very determined to win, she did an amazing work, it could be better of course but she was almost perfect. I if see Gabby routine's used a music very basic, that we all know, but she never had that king of artistic, if you don't see that komova did a ver verte great job. For me she should be win or had a better note, it should be more closed

My fav routines would be Lilia's Euro fx final in 96, Lashenova's 88 team final, Tatiana Lysenko in 92, Miller in 93 aa final or 96 nationals, Dawes in 96 fx final, Kotchekova in 94, Kseniia in 2011.. Aghh just too many to narrow down.

    Anyone that says the athletes today can't have as much artistry and dance due to the new COP (demanding more difficult tricks and skills) are completely wrong. Go watch any current routine from the Netherlands. They have insanely gorgeous routines. So, if the really top tumblers could incorporate that kind of dance and artistry it would be so stunning.

    What a great compilation! I had never seen many of those routines and I loved the emphasis on choreography in many of the older exercises. Watching this really emphasizes how the current scoring system limits creativity, even if it might be considered more quantifiable than subjective. My personal favorite routine was Svetlana Khorkina's performance to "Carmen". I also loved Nastia Liukin's Olympic routine. Anyway, thanks for posting this, because I really enjoyed it!

    • @shushunovafan4301
      @shushunovafan4301  6 лет назад +14

      Agreed, and notice how the majority of these gymnasts had difficult tumbling to back up their fabulous artistry. Voineas DLO punch front, Shushus roll out skill and Milo's first pass are just a few examples of skills that are still considered exceptionally difficult by todays standards. Svetlanas Carmen is magnificent and Nastias AA 2008 routine is iconic(though I still prefer her 2005 floor music/dance). There are a lot of great floors that I missed out sadly, maybe next time I'll do a top 30 haha.

If more gymnasts could do it, why force Mukhina into it when she was already injured? If I'm correct it was for these OG that she was training when the accident happened.

Personally, my favourites would be (since 1996) Lilypod and Mo from 1996, Lisa Skinner, Katya and Esther Moya from 2000, Pavlova from 2004 and 2008, Nastia from 2005 and 2008, Ivana Hong from 2008, Afan and Grishina from 2012, Larrissa Miller from 2016

    • @shushunovafan4301

      Those are all pretty great pics honestly. Yes I do prefer the format of 3 tumbles with a focus on the dance, but many of these routines have top class difficulty as well. Voineas opener for one. Not many gymnasts with a DLO-immediate punch nowadays. Or Laschenovas opener. I do think difficulty is important and I love the big tricks, but I most enjoy a routine that has both artistry and tumbling.

      @sktzn6829 6 лет назад +6

      Yeah nowadays routines don't flow. It's just tumble, then random jumps and turns, and then another tumble, and then finishing with the double piked. Out of all those I listed, my favourite would be Lisa Skinner's from 2000. Every single leap, turn, movement, fits perfectly with the music, and she does a really good job with the "Arabian Princess" theme.

      Yeah I haven't seen much of the 1980's but since 1996 I would say Lilypod and Mo from 1996, Lisa Skinner, Katya and Esther Moya from 2000, Pavlova from 2004 and 2008, Nastia from 2005 and 2008, Ivana Hong from 2008, Afanasyeva from 2012, Larrissa Miller from 2016

    With regards to Gina Gogean - I hate reading comments from people who say she's a robot and she's a bad gymnast. She's not! She's amazing! Her routine in this video proves it. Kathy Johnson-Clarke says it's the best routine she'd ever seen Gina do, and I agree, but I also think Gina's floor routine in the event finals at the 1996 Olympics was also one of her best, even though she (barely) stepped out of bounds at the end. Great video! Will you have videos for the best in uneven bars or vault?

      Omg thank you! I grew up watching WAG, and i remember thinking Gina Gogean was incredibly talented and super consistent. I have NEVER understood the rude things said about her! It seems like people just HAVE to hate someone, and they seem to arbitrarily pick someone to fill that role. Gogean was the target for so much hate in the mid to late 90s and it just never made one iota of sense.
      It pisses me off. "Put some respeck on her name!"

    Silvia’s needs a top 5 spot. I’d also add Dudnik 89, Bogi 89, Pavlova 08, Lily Pod 96 and Onodi 92. Maybe you need 30? 😂

      @@shushunovafan4301 I've noticed a few comments here and there on your videos from people mildly criticizing Biles -nothing remotely harsh, but I was stunned that those commenters weren't harassed and bullied by the legions of "OMG BILES YASSS QUEEN GOAT GOAT GOAT SHE'S SO PERFECT QUEEN YASSS" stans that infest most WAG comment sections. Evidently you've cultivated quite a mature and critically thinking fandom here. It's truly refreshing to see.

      Thank you!
      I think it’s reasonable now that the biles era is gone to say she is the best gymnasts of all time. Her acrobatic ability is quite frankly unparalleled and exceeds even most great male gymnasts.
      I also think biles as she matured became more artistic and I appreciate the effort she put into her dance, where some power gymnasts don’t bother at all.
      But no I don’t think she’s immune from criticism and there were other athletes that were also phenomenal too. I actually like Simones work, I just don’t think she’s the be all and end all of the sport.

    • @pappysprite
      @pappysprite 5 лет назад +8

      ummm...it's someone's opinion. Nadia's routines were great for their time, but rather basic compared to these magnificent routines. The choreographed floor routines had an incredible evolution in dance and difficulty and was extremely different from 1976 to the the 1989 World Championships. She can be admired for the first 10.

    • @JennaLeigh
      @JennaLeigh 4 года назад +3

      This is a list of someone's PERSONAL favorites. This isn't intended to be a ranking based on any quantifiable data- it's simply what this creator likes best.
      That said, there isn't a single knowledgable gymnastics fan anywhere who would deny Nadia's greatness. However, her FX routines, while wonderful, were not quite as jam packed with skills and choreography as the ones on this list.

    • @MD-722

      @Daria Enache The first perfect 10s were actually scored by Vera Caslvaska at the 1967 European Championships. But due to her not being the subject of one the FIG's biggest publicity stunts, her achievements til this day are still widely unknown. What's worse though is that shortly after the RIo Games in 2016, Caslavska passed. But I always say it's better to be recognised than famous and Caslvaska although definitely famous at one point, spent the rest of her life in recognition
