Joe you absolute hero. Been following you for about a month and it's already paying off. I delight in this kind of stuff. Thank you so much for sharing, I'll be fiddling with this tonight!
Joe yes. Please more of this. So many of your videos get so close to showing how to do something amazing but they're not suppose to be tutorials and I get that. But by god are you good at this and you have the perfect demeanor for tutorials please more x
Awesome! Hey it would be really cool if you slowed down to show what you just did, for example, when you said add new group, even when using pause, it's not 'obvious' where you did that. Great tip though, I love this hack, sure it would be better if OBS had a function or a plugin that simply triggered source from audio level. ;)
As a tutorial it has very fast shots when you are selecting the filters, not clear, but watching again and again i can see what you did lol, btw thanks!
Even though I don’t think I’ll ever use it or know how to Eve get half the stuff but I really liked how even without any knowledge on it I still understand it 😂💜 it was also really insightful since you never really get to see this kind of stuff actually on streams and it’s awesome to see all the behind the scenes stuff! ☺️
Oh wow. That's what I was looking for. Someone gave me a tutorial for a great visual effect when I stream or record Beat Saber Videos. I'll try to improve it and let it react to the musik in game
Short question. Do you know how I can separate frequencies. I want to use the filter three times for RGB (with different frequencies) Maybe I should explain a bit more: I'm streaming Beat Saber in Mixed Reality. That means, that you can see me as a real person standing in BS and smashing cubes. The Streamer "Proper D" uses OBS Studio for filtering a color and replace it with a RGB-Clip in the background (that's why his tattoo and parts of his pants are glowing in different colors). After that he uses the virtual camera function for the input in the LIV-Client (a program for the calibration and merging the virtual (in game) cam with the real cam). In LIV the greenscreen is replaced with the Game. I want to do the same.... just with the colors react to the music. Do you know a way to get a nice and colorful reaction to music.... (without green)?
I absolutely love this. Can't really imagine doing with a goxlr, since it takes all your audio into one OBS source. Unless there's a way to make a second one and have it set to a different routing table. Or having an aux out of the GOxlr that is routed only to share mic, and then using it the same way. I guess I've got some experimenting to do!
Have realised that the built-in mic on my webcam might work just as well, since the stream won't hear that audio, it doesn't matter that it's a wide echoey noise, will need to test the threshold for triggering it but I think it's more than doable this way. Thanks for the tutorial Joe, you magnificent handsome bastard!
@@JoeHickson Uhm. I'm really not sure. I have the mini, and it cost about £130 on amazon and I'd say so. Still needed cloudlifter to make the ShureSM7B sound good (Which a lot of posts/reviews say isn't needed, but maybe that's just on the big unit) But I had one anyway so wasn't bothered. It's really easy to use, sliders feel good, LED customisation is nice, but not OTT, useful if you have different profiles. I know you have a streamdeck - the plug in for it isn't great, but it switches profiles, and can change your routing mix, so I have a few buttons to change the output of my mic and discord, if I'm streaming, I can be on a pre-stream/BRB scene and change the routing so we can talk in discord without the stream hearing. Easy learning curve, and for somebody like you, you'd definitely get the most out of it. My biggest regret is not getting the larger one for voice FX and samples, since it's trickier doing that in OBS now. (but that was about £450 at the time and maybe it is worth that, but not happening for me on furlough!) I can use voicemod, but it means re-routing multiple things, and the same back. Means no automation. Before, I had a reaper plugin that would trigger with commands that made me octave shift. Can't do that now in OBS or it shifts all the sounds. But yes, definitely worth it, and I had been using Voicemeter for a while before which seemed to run into trouble whenever I wanted to do anything differently, 3 months with the Mini and I've had no issues so far :)
It was all mememememememe... its working its working lol (You have to follow really closely, the affect part is another scene that links to the audiokey scene)
This was a great tutorial! Just enough technical specs to make my feel confident in it. Is there a way to do this where the video expands and shrinks in the same way the audio lines jump in and out? Like, tying the source size tot he spectralizer?
ok so my version of OBS is different now and I've tried to follow this Tut but two things no longer seem to work. First the spectralizer doesnt fit the screen the bars still show and next the blur wont add to the spect also. secondly the sped line show all the time. and not just when I speak. I'm going through again would be helpful in next video if you could to a summary on the complete scene at the end to we know the layer and don't miss anything. this is a great concept and will look awesome when it works thanks for sharing. now work god damn it lol
2:39 Update for the Audio Tracks: Leave at least one track on (track 6 usually works, as long as it's not your Live, or VOD track) because OBS updated, and it won't work unless one track is on.
How did you manage to get the lines to only come in when the audio levels hit that certain decibel again? I followed everything correctly to my knowledge, but the lines just show continuously
Fixed the blur Issue it was the stream FX plugin I had to use the exe installer as the zip gave me a prefix of source.blur.etc to my drop downs which was causing the problem.
Thank you! I asked chat gpt if there was Any way to do this and it was going on about custom scripts and 3rd party audio analysis running in tandem with the stream and I knew I couldn’t possibly be the first person to want to do this
Hey, not sure if you respond to comments here Joe, I went through looking for something similar and stumbled upon your video, and I would like you to look into the answer I got after contacting Exeldro. Head over to the OBS forum and look up the post I made explaining his answer, or just switch over to using the "Audio Move" filter that he includes with his "Move Transition" plugin. More control, and way simpler to setup and change.
Please fix you big cam LUT it looks like shit if youre a beginner the LUT is way to mutch dim it down remove it or make a new one For the rest nice vid
can't figure anything out and I don't pay for something that is complex to install and use. I guess this makes me doomed for life. downvoted as well since it's not mentioned that you have to PAY for these programs you are clearly advertising. all responses are ignored, so don't waste your time.
at the time this video was made, you didn't have to pay for it. I used to use Stream FX, but they decided to shit on their users, and make signing up to patreon mandatory. I was just about to comment to point this fact out, and ask for an update to this video.
I wish all RUclips tutorials were as concise and to the point as yours, Joe.
same :)
I just watched a video tutorial for something I have no pratical use for, but I still liked it. Must've been a good video :p
As a full time streamer (that is, about 6 hours every 3 years..) I'll have this for my stream next time/year... Very cool!
I'm glad there's other streamers as consistent as me :)
@@JoeHickson Last stream on: Feb 8 2019 it seems... I'm sure my "fan""base" misses me :)
Sorry was it drop then drag?

That's not what I had in mind when I made the plugin, but it's pretty cool regardless :D
Haha thanks for making such a great tool :)
Joe makes me smile just by doing an OBS tutorial
Awesome!

Sipmle but cool thanks for sharing!
We need more tutorials like this one!
More customizable awesome effects that can make the stream even BETTER!
You can make similar effects using the Audio Move filter from the Move Transition plugin
oh damn, had no idea it was so versatile! Thanks for making such amazing plugins btw
Came here to say this. 👊🏻

I was literally trying to follow your twitch replay for this last night!

Professor Joe needs a stream overlay class on Skillshare, or some shit.

in short, make 3 separate audio key scene, just reposition the spectraliser to only show select frequencies :)

Couldn't you just change the gravity of the spectraliser, instead of adding 2? seems like it would be less load on your system
Potentially, I found that the effect looked slightly smoother this way though

have some way to the Audio react in speed of video?
Can you have video or audio react to audio? Been looking around and can only find image/gif reaction. :)

you mean alt + f4? got ya
Couldn’t you just extend the gravity time instead of adding a render delay? Might save on CPU. Great vid either way!
You could do this but found it looked a bit smoother this way :)
Can you make one for stream labs
You can't do it in streamlabs :/
also the dynamic mask no longer as an alpha channel ? _ I'm sure my obs is upto date?
does this work for OBS streamlabs as well or just obs? o3o I dont stream much but all my stuff is setup in streamlabs
You can't install plugins for stream labs unfortunately
