Elton Brand: The Career of THE MOST OVERLOOKED Power Forward of the 2000s

- From the beginning of his high school days, Elton Brand was special. He was undersized at the power forward positon, but his strength made up for it. An old school throwback, who liked to post you up and back you down and was most comfortable when he was in the key. He was an incredible efficient scorer and tenacous rebounder on both ends, but he was also a very underrated defender. Elton Brand spent two seasons at Duke, winning National Player of the Year as a Sophomore in 1999. After two years as an NCAA athlete, Brand wanted to jump at the opportunity to provide for his family; so he would enter the 1999 NBA Draft, and was selected first overall by a Chicago Bulls team who were looking for their next star after Michael Jordan's retirement. Brand would briefly team with Ron Artest before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for Tyson Chandler. In LA, Brand would put together an incredible 6 year stretch which saw him make 2 All Star Appearances, receive 1 All NBA selection and even become an MVP and Defensive Player of the Year candidate. He would lead the Clippers to their first playoff series win in over 30 seasons, when they defeated the NUggets in 2006. But soon after this, an achilles injury, followed by shoulder injury would steal two years of his prime and when he came back with the Philadelphia 76ers, he was no longer the star he once was, but even during his time in Philly, he was better than most people remember, and is still in Philly in a different capacity, now working as the Philadelphia 76ers General Manager as of 2024, but Elton Brand was at his best when he was in uniform, and remains one of the most underappreciated big men of all time.

Elton brand is the definition of this channel
One of the best and overlooked
Brand is easily a Top 10 most underrated player in NBA history. Ultra consistent and made the Clippers respectable.
That 00’ clippers team was something special…. The knuckle heads
That Achilles tear really derailed his career, but it was great to see him bounce back in the early 2010s.
Definitely one of the best underrated players of all time.
EB was a walking double double!!!
Salute 🫡
Elton Brand had a gigantic wingspan, that helped with shooting over taller players in the paint and shot blocking capabilities combined with his agility & strength.
His Clippers Jersey is my 1st jersey I received as a kid, proud of that forgotten 2006 Clippers squad.
He (sadly) played IMO in the best era of PF's. Dealing with Garnett, (old) Malone, Dirk, Duncan, Rasheed, Webber, Gasol in the West, Man it was tough
Dirk, KG & Sheed all played small forwards during their careers too, Elton didn’t
@@BiggidyB wrong they played PF
If you don't believe me check their basketball-reference profile -> position estimate
Raef LaFrentz would be very appropriate for this channel
Yeah that's a good one
Elton Brand was really 6'7" and had a very long reach of 7'5" for wingspan. He wasn't a explosive leaper, but that long reach did help a lot. For reference, Kawhi Leonard has a 7'3" wingspan.
Very underrated power forwards Elton Brand was very consistent on some bad Bulls and Clippers teams except for 06, could you do Zach Randolph next
Yesss! Bout time! A guy I loved watching the clips
He was a very Solid Player and Excellent Shot Blocker for his size 💯💯
Man, you do great work with this channel. Much respect.
Shout out to Elton Brand, hella underrated......Cuttino Mobley would be dope to see too 😁😁
The 2006 clippers are one of my fav teams back then. Brand is a beast inside the paint
Greatest power forward that nobody ever talks about?! Shoutouts to Peekskill, NY a city 🌆 with a lot of basketball 🏀 talent. 😊
He had the largest pair of hands in the world. Good player in his heyday.
Thank you 😊
Erick Dampier deserves some love and recognition in a video. Super underrated as a consistent top 15 rebounder especially on the offensive end.
He was a good rebounder but his offense was below average and his defense was solid but often got outperformed by good centers and power forwards
Hey I love your channel man. Fall asleep to a profile every night
PF, Clippers, underrated...looking forward to seeing Loy Vaught!
Elton Brand was the first overall pick in his draft class. Some people have forgotten about him when he was drafted by the Bulls. He was very underrated as a power forward.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
Casual take. Guy was a number one pick and just a two time all star. That's close to being a bust. The guy was basically a journeyman.
@@gpipelineu can’t be that casual to say someone who played pf in the most talented era of the position is a bust for only making two allstars while averaging no less than 20 and 8 for nearly a decade. Who was he gonna make it over? Dirk? Kg? Duncan? Mcdysse? Sheed? Bosh? Webber? Jamison? Boozer? Malone? Etc. Gasol? Delete this comment bud.
@@gpipelineThe pipeline you speak of must be full of crack because what? Calling EB a journeyman or anything close to a bust is beyond absurd as he’s the definition of a franchise player. He was an automatic 20 n 10 right outta college.
HORACE GRANT SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT VID
Trading Brand was such a bonehead move by Krause 🤦♂️
Sharif Abdul-Rahim next!
He has a video already.
excellent work
Great video per usual!!!! How about a video on Charles Oakley??? Or Avery Johnson!
Solid player good video
Elton Brand was COLD as a Mf & EXTREMELY underrated imo
One of the worst moves the Bulls made was letting Elton and Ron go
I never understood that trade.... 20pts and 10 rebounds on the regular.... No trouble in the locker room... Or of the court....

Great video!!! Maybe do Corey Maggette next.
I think he did one on him I could be wrong though
Duke’s finest. You should review Rudy Gay
Finally Brand gets some respect!
You should do Deron Williams & Brandon Jennings one day 💯
Damn what happen to Trajan Langdon he was that guy at Duke never heard his name again
Had a good run in the Euroleague with my boy Lynn Greer from Temple. I just remember following Eurobasket back in the day just to check for them. Langdon played for Moscow CSKA the same team AK47 came from. I still don’t know how he wasn’t able to make it in the league the guy was a dead eye shooter.
Also of note is the Pistons just named him their GM which is kinda crazy.
Elton brand was a monster in from Memphis and I remember when the grizzlies first came to Memphis when I was 10 I couldn’t get tickets to see shaw and Kobe but I got slot of clippers tickets 😂 brand was a monster him and Corey maggett. I love their games and they were seriously making huge nba players look like normal people on the floor with his strong they were and the skill they played with. I think brand was like 6’6 bear foot but he had insane long arms and he had a good jump shot from the mid range
Brand was like 6’7” barefoot with a massive 7’5” wingspan. And yeah him and Maggette are both built like wide body Humvees.
Ayy, I'd love a Ron Artest, Ron Mercer, or Brad Miller..Eddie Robinson.. Maybe..?? 😶🌫️
I live right next to Peekskill, never knew he went to high school there’s that’s cool asf ngl
@gothhokage1090 You're from Upper Westchester. I grew up in Lower Westchester, aka Yonkers, my first decade of life.
Big Z profile
Bulls should`ve never traded this guy!
Next Rik Smits
Who draws the thumbnail portrait?
I do them in photoshop
@@ForgottenPlayerProfilesNice to see the evolution of the channel/you. Keep up the awesome work!
When I used to collect cards as a kid, the back of Elton Brands said that he has extremely long arms😂
Bill Laambeer deserves a video
20 & 10 He bust Karl Malone ass one time 💯💪🎯 this is a good one 💯
Where’s that Chris Kaman vid??
8:42 “the brand selection would make him the first duke blue devil to go number one overall.”
Josh Smith Jamal Crawford cuttino Mobley dem next
Jamal Crawford is pretty known throughout the league
Do a video about Ricky Rubio next
The Achilles tear of 2008 robbed him of more future success, but his lone decent seasons in Philadelphia - 2010-2011 - were nice bounce back seasons. He did a great job in “scamming” the 76ers of money coming off the Achilles tear. That’s SMART business!!!
And now he's the GM of the 76ers, let's see if he can put a winning squad around Embiid.
He obviously didn’t scam the Sixers considering he retired as a Sixers and was immediately hired to their front office. You guys think the only value players bring to an organization is what the box scores show which is obviously not the case. EB helped solidify a Sixers organization that was trying to find its footing at the time.
Caron Butler
Please do Marvin Williams
4:11 looks like he’s being guarded by George Iceman Gervin
My new york neighbor
Worse trade in Chicago bulls history. Made no sense whatsoever.
Hindsight makes anyone a genius…
Have you done Al Jefferson?
Yeah he's got a vid
Zelmo Beaty
He wasn’t overlooked by me 😢😢
Elton Brand could've been traded to the Wizards in place of the #1 pick in 2001
though he was clunky and walked like he had cement shoes, strength and determination were his mainstays and why his career went as far as you can dream. who knows what chicago was thinking, tyson chandler had some great years but EB was Mr. Consistency and had the better career
I remember he was supposed to be the bulls savior when he was drafted. And just didn't live up to the hype. But i guess anyone compared to jordan couldnt live up to it.
E-Beezy
His 2 all star years, he played 37.8 and 39.2 minutes per game, inflating his stats. And his first all star game, he averaged 18.2 points per game, 11.6 rebounds. Had he played less minutes just like everyone else, he would have never been on a all star team. For a 1st pick, he is actually a bust. Great player but undersized, can only play 1 position.
For the Era he was a more than solid 4 or 5, he was drafted to shoot 3’s or set screen, when it came to points, rebounds and blocks he was among the best for about a decade.
He wasn’t drafted…
san miguel
Elton Brand a poor man’s Charles Barkley….
Good stats, but teams guy
These duke alumni's are all terrible. My bad thats too harsh. But theyre all overrated and not hof players. All of em. All of em dont live up to hype. Every single one of em
@elvisp116 Grant Hill had the potential to be a top 10-20 player of all time, but injuries derailed him. But hey, he's in the hof based on his college and nba career combined. It's called the basketball hof, not nba hof.
@4392amtrak he's the biggest example. He was nice for three years and made the hof cause of it. He was good for 3 years, then got hurt then was irrelevant till he made a come back as a sun when they weren't any good any more. He's a hof cause of a three good years? Smh I think he got in cause of nepotism. Grant Hill is not a hof. At all
@elvisp116 Well, hey, Sabonis and Ming are in the hof based on their overseas careers and impact that Yao brought from China to the NBA
I bet Clippers fans love him. Not cool.
First
He reminds me of Lamar Odom, super duper overated.
Lmfao who overrates Elton Brand?!?
Blk Kevin Love?? …. better inside, worse outside same empty stats
he wasn't overlooked at all.
He was because he played in a era where you had Dirk, Garnett, Webber, Duncan, Rasheed, Gasol and even old Karl Malone in his conference
@@Evenmixer Doesn't mean he was overlooked. Just wasn't as good as them.
Brand is so bland that he’s forgettable lol. He’s like the default player in nba 2k
Brand was a two-time all star. There are at least ten power forwards who were better and never made the HOF. You need to write about them. Brand never lived up to all his hype as a number one pick coming out of college. You sound like a fanboy.
He was #1 because who was Chicago gonna draft?? ... Jonathan Bender... Leon Smith??... Man.. go to hell. 😆😆
🤡
