Terry Cummings: The Career of the ONLY Player to OUTSCORE MICHAEL JORDAN in a Playoff Series | FPP

- As far as a power forwards go, he's one of the best who never gets talked about. Terry Cummings was a hybrid forward with the size and skills to play positions 3 through 5. He starred at DePaul University, playing alongside Mark Aguirre during one of the Blue Demons most winningest stretches. He would play briefly with the San Diego Clippers alongside Tom Chambers to start his career; before beginning his best stretch with the Milwaukee Bucks, alongside Sidney Moncrief and Paul Pressey in the mid 80s. After this he would be sent to San Antonio as a great scorer and veteran presence for the Spurs; alongside David Robinson and Sean Elliott. But a freak knee injury suffered in 1992 would completely change the trajectory of his career. He would still last 8 more years in the league, but he was nowhere near the level he was at during his first decade in the NBA. Even so, he had a full decade as essentially a 20 and 10 guy on perennial playoff teams, even getting some MVP consideration. Yet for some reason, Terry Cummings name is almost unspoken nowadays, it could be due to playing in Milwaukee's small market, or being overshadowed by David Robinson. But The Preacher is now one of the most overlooked stars of his era, who embraced whichever role he was given. And even though he retired with the most career playoff games without a Finals appearance, TC did all he could to get there, and deserves nothing but respect.

As a lifetime Milwaukee native, I've always loved Cummings. How can you not love someone who plays 18 seasons and stays productive pretty much the whole time?
Terry Cummings & that 80s Bucks team was solid
For real. People forget how good the Bucks were in the 80’s.
A lot of “old school power forwards from the era are overlooked, Terry Cummings at the top of that list. I always liked Buck Williams
Welcome back!!!! If he never got that knee injury..... Mannnn
Glad to see you back and to post another great one, who get's treated with disrespect by many casuals today. Terry was legit and hardly get's spoken.
Terry was no joke on the court! Chicago in the bldg
Chicago's own TC(a.k.a Preacher), straight beast on both sides of the ball, definitely not forgotten.
Salute 🫡
From a 50 year NBA fan.... Terry Cummings was a bad man. Strong as an Ox and would wheel and deal on your butt, like Hakeem.
In the 80’s , one of my favourites. Thanks
Milwaukee just ran into some all-time great teams in the 80s in the east and just couldn't get over the hump facing those teams; first, the Sixers and Celtics, and no team was beating those two teams back to back to get to the finals; when they fell off here come the Pistons; the Bucks couldn't catch a break that decade.....
And the Bulls weren't far behind.
Glad you're making content again! Terry was a BEAST!
Saw him play in person as a SD Clipper. Beat out Worthy and Wilkins for RoY.
Thank you for doing a video on Chicago's very own Terry Cummmings. ( I have been asking for this one). I grew up a big fan of T.C he was a very versatile hybrid pf/ sf he had handles could post up, shoot the midrange and REBOUND. Very underrated Hooper. Great video
I heard and watched him late in his career but man he was extremely consistent and underrated. Didn’t realize he was putting up numbers like that for so long.
I'm a bucks fan huge fan if Terry Cummings tough basketball player awesome player!
Great video! Chicago Legend! Shout out to all my fellow Chicagoans in the comments.
I love your channel and I love how you go in depth on players who history does not remember as well as they should. Cummings is a great example. He had a good decade where he was putting up really good numbers
Another great Chicago area player.
TC Terry Cummings, he always stayed in shape and WAS CONSISTENT, he was reliable, when I think of 80s-90s TOUGH PFs I think of Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Charles Oakley, Terry Cummings and Rick Mahorn, Guys you didn't wanna mess with in a brawl!
Buck Williams and Larry Smith too. Plus Maurice Lucas and Lonnie Shelton were still in the league from the '70s.
And Sleepy Floyd
@@kieranng1172 I always thought Floyd was more of a shooting guard, or perhaps small forward. But yeah, he was a tough dude and good player.
U r right, quick hands wanted to say Otis Thorpe
Terry Cummings was my GUY!
Pastor C was A Dawg!!!! CHI TOWN
Great you’re back and coming back with a great NBA player.
this is a good one, thank you
This channel fills a big need because as someone who only got into basketball in the mid 2000's ive never heard of a lot of these players you highlight
The content is always on point!
Jeff, I was born in Seattle in 1973, a Sonics and Blazers fan. So, these videos bring me NOSTALIGA and trips down memory lane!
FACTS
You can literally go back and watch these full games on RUclips
@@TrevorHamberger I don't have hours to spend watching old full NBA games. Videos like this are great
One of the strongest
Terry Cummings was a truly a great player!
Great video. Terry Cummings so quite underrated. This channel has made me think about NBA players who are playing today that will end up on lists like this. I know Kemba Walker, who retired a few days back, Tobias Harris, Andre Drummond, Bradley Beal, Zach Lavine, Pascal Siakam, CJ McCollum, John Wall, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, maybe Al Horford, Jamal Murray, Blake Griffin and Rajon Rondo, who also retired in April, DeAndre Jordan, Kristaps Porzingis, maybe Bam Adebayo and even Myles Turner and Julius Randle will end up on lists like this.
Jrue is now a 2-time champion, Khris won a title as well- much less likely to be forgotten about because of that. The others on your list I definitely agree with
@@Crawsack Speaking of Jrue do you think he will be inducted to the hall of fame? Even players with a title and were a 2 time all star tend to be forgotten. I really wonder who else can make this kind of list currently playing. I know there is more.
@theg1714 I think Jrue will get in the Hall eventually. He's still playing at a high level and was a key contributor on two title teams. Definitely borderline though.
@@Crawsack Yeah with 2 titles he feels like he's getting in.
@@CrawsackPlus he was on the New Orleans team with Rondo who made gave Portlands backcourt Lillard and McCollum HELL and I say if Cousins wasn't hurt would definitely challenged GSW especially since they were weaker in the Front court
Dude was a freak before his injuries
Outstanding!! Grateful for you and this informational channel! Please do :
Kiki Vamderwege
Scott Skiles
Vernon Maxwell
Craig Ehlo
Waymon Tisdale
John Starks
Craig ehlo was trash
I heard that terry cummings was so strong that someone tried to dunk on him and he grabbed them with one arm and literally held them in midair by their elbow
That was Chris Webber. He said he'd never been punked before in his life until Cummings pulled him down with 1 arm
I didn't realize that Terry Cummings was from Chicago.
I more so remember him on those Spurs teams.
Terry Cummings is really good on 2k as well
The back and forth with trades from Seattle the Bucks were insane. Essentially an all star team with veterans, experienced and some young players in the mid and late 80’s. I loved going to games at Mecca and the Bradley Center with my dad. I even got to talk and shake hands with Parish and McHale once. Larry wasn’t friendly but I tapped him on the shoulder. Old heroes here. 😢
Damn he was underrated
Anybody that knows ball knows he was that dude
He was my favorite player as a kid. TC and Ricky Pierce were my guys.
@@Wallyworld30 I'm the generation after I started watching when they had Alvin Robertson and Jay Humphreys I had to go back and research the 80s team💪🏾
@@jaredwright8085 you just talking out your axx
@@MmGocrazy-rs1cc you were the bad bucks generation to you got the man from that dangerous city in Northwest Indiana big dog Robinson
He was a very unique player. I always liked his game.
This is great! Another player that you might consider is Ken Norman.
Another Chi City baller. I loved growing up as a Chicago Southside native back in those days watching so many great ballers in the 70's & 80's.
7 20 point seasons during his prime
We haven’t forgotten him here in Milwaukee. He’s a legend here
A walking bucket. Such an underrated talent. Needs to be HOF.
How about a video on Chicago's very own Eddie Johnson
Wonderful channel 👏🏾
TC should be in HOF!
My first intro. to Terry Cummings was with the warriors . As a 7 year old kid he was my favorite on the team
Baseline jumpers were automatic
I did NOT know that Terry Cummings could still dunk, while a Sonic! He was older, and knee surgeries weren't as sophisticated as they are today.
Yes Terry Cummings is criminally underated!
Terry was a boss! He’s a forgotten stud!
One of the best to ever to follow it!😉👊🏾👍🏾
Cummings may have been a preacher, but he also was a tough, physical power forward and someone you did not want to mess with.
There were tons of great forwards in the 80s. Many get overlooked as the decade was dominated by only 5 teams making the finals. Bernard King, Larry Nance Sr, TC, Alex English, Nique, Xavier M, etc.
Great Ball player,,I'm glad you made this Video
Cummings was a beast! There's so many forgotten players from that era that was bad muthas
Still can't believe Milwaukee let Game 7 get away agsinst Boston in 87.That was a good Bucks team.
Thank you 😊
He really was that good. It's crazy that he was that productive while playing most of his career with minute restrictions.
The big homie T.C from my Hood 🔥🔥🔥🔥legend from the Hunnitz
As a former Southside Chicago native I saw his whole career since college at DePaul. I saw him carrying his newborn baby with his wife in Evergreen Plaza Mall back in the 80's being the humble dude he is with no security.
He definitely should be in the Hall Of Fame. He was better than a lot of people who have been selected recently. A straight up Chi City legend who could flat out ball.
Underrated player
Terry Cummings was a problem but no one wants too talk about how good this guy was.
I thought Carlos Boozer was like a young Terry Cumin!
Hell naw Cummings was more like a small forward.
Terry Cummings and Dennis Rodman on the same team is wild
I went to Harlan HS and I’m friends with him on Facebook
No one ever fucked with Terry Cummings. He was no joke
Terry Cummings was a skilled player with the toughness of an enforcer
I'm surprised that vlade hadn't made an appearance yet. Also umm any love for anthony peeler?
Even fans in San Antonio over look Terry Cummings in Spurs history.... despite the important role he had for the Spurs.
Lol I just suggested doin a video on Kiki in the community tab, then he popped up in this video
If you ever need help thinking of some forgotten players let me know i love this page and its niche
Sleepy Floyd
Walt Williams
Nate McMillian
In the week prior to the 1984 Draft, there were talks of a deal; Chicago sending its pick (Jordan) to the Clippers for Cummings. There was more to the deal, but that was the crux of it.
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. I have a SONICS 34 CUMMINGS jersey!

Giannis has done the number justice
Do Deron Williams
As a long time Lakers/Clippers fan I like to see under the radar consistent players like Erik Piatkowski, Elden Campbell or even Rick Fox.
Elden Campbell would be a great one! I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. In 2003-04, Detroit at Seattle, I saw Campbell effortlessly hitting 3-Pointers in pre-game shootarounds.
