- Best known for his time as a member of early 90s Michigan Wolverines, known as the fab five as Jalen Rose was arguably the most popular member of a freshman starting 5 consisting of him, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson. This team was one of the most popular and influential college sports teams of all time, but unfortunately were not able to win any sort of championship during their time together and would eventually see a lot of their wins vacated due to recruitment violations. After three years he entered the NBA with a Denver Nuggets who had great young players alongside him like Dikembe Mutombo and Antonio McDyess, but he would never get a chance in Denver, and after just two season he was traded to the Indiana Pacers. But in Indiana his career would blossom, playing alongside guys like Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson, Rik Smits, Antonio Davis and Dale Davis. The team was coached by NBA hall of famer Larry Bird and under Bird, they would make three consecutive conference Finals appearances, even reaching the NBA Finals in 2000, and during this stretch Rose improved every year, even winning the NBA’s Most Improved Player award in 2000. By his final season in Indiana, he was scoring better than Reggie Miller. But he would be traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2002, and would spend the rest of his career as a valuable veteran presence on bad teams, as he would play with a Bulls team trying to find their footing after the retirement of Michael Jordan, then a Raptors team trying to find an identity as they lost Vince Carter, before finally spending brief with the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns. His NBA career was only 13 seasons, but during that time he was one of the league’s only true point forward and could do a bit of everything on the offensive end, and even though he never achieved the popularity of his college days, he put together a very good NBA career which tends to fall the cracks.

The original Jalen. All of the current Jalens are named after this man.
😂
Agree,
My son's name is Jalen yes after him
Yes he met expectations, he was the best player on the Pacers team that finally broke thru to make the NBA finals; he just needed an advocate like Bird who believed in his game.
Exactly. He really did. He was an early era version of the positionless basketball that we see today.
I think Reggie was still the best player during that run, but Jalen was definitely right behind him
@@4392amtrak I mean Reggie was the heart of the team, but check the stats, Jalen was the guy.
@WorldwideWyatt I think both of us can agree that Jalen should've been an all-star that year, even though he won most improved. But Reggie got selected that year.
@@4392amtrakYup. Jalen played 13 years in the league and spent a significant amount of that time as a starter on some good teams (Indiana) and not so good (Toronto). All Star selections are beyond your control. You could put up All Star worthy numbers as he did that season and not get selected for a variety of reasons.
The Early 90s Michigan Wolverines Fab 5 is why I fell in love with Basketball, C-Webb, Jalen and Juwan Howard, baggy shorts and black socks, I was hurt when they lost to UNC in the National Championship because of Chris Webber calling a timeout they didn't have. Some more suggestions, Antonio McDyess, LaPhonso Ellis and Juwan Howard.
So did I man. I begged my Momma to put a Michigan Apex (bootleg Starter) Jacket on layaway and eventually got it. Once I did, I really treasured that jacket and nobody could tell me nothin at that time. I love it and played the Washington Bullets they had Webber and Howard on "Give and Go" on Super Nintendo and every other video game they were on. They also had a squad with George Muersan, Calbert Cheney, Tracy Murray and, Tim Legler. I also played with and loved the Nuggets with Jalen, Mutombo, Mahmoud Abdul Rauf. Both those squads were good.
Good ole days lol
It wasn't Chris Webber fault. It was a teammate at the far end of the bench that was telling Chris to call timeout. It was number 14 can't recall his name but he use to start and he hated the fact that the starters lost their positions to freshmen. That teammate was clapping when Chris called the timeout . How you go against your own teammates in a big game like that.
Reggie Williams. Georgetown
Salute to Jalen Rose. I believe he still holds the Denver Nuggets rookie record for assists in a season. That Michigan Fab 5 team was epic for the hip hop culture with the long baggy shorts and black socks. Now his time playing for my Home Town Team the Chicago Bulls and yeah that team was BAAAAAAD
Jalen Rose in Indy was a baller
Smoking out of a bong 💨 🍃 drinking beers 🍻 and enjoying another Forgotten Player Profile video, cheers 😎✌️
Wow dude. Now that what you called relaxing
I think so, esp with Indy, Chicago & Toronto. That Michigan yellow #5 jersey is legendary tho...still need that to add to my collection
I remember Jalen Rose for 3 things: #1.Michigan's Fab 5 #2.All-around game #3. 81
Those Pacers teams in the mid to late 1990s were stellar. That 2000 team was nice too.
Peace to J Rose .
Peace to The Fab 5.
"The year before the Fab Five’s arrival, Michigan’s merchandise revenue was around 1.6 million. During the two years the Fab Five was together, merchandise skyrocketed to 10.5 Million."- Rodney Wilkins
Peace to Rodney Rogers. Peace to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
Jalen Rose won't find peace in his life unless he asks for forgiveness from Chris Webber and if CWebb forgives him.
Yeah a lot of people forgot about those teams
@@lilpenny1982You trippin'. SMH
@@lilpenny1982bro they been squashed all that
I'm a lefty. And on the court I use to try to play like Jalen Rose and Nick Van Excel
Yeah they were nasty

One of my all time favorite players and one of the first basketball players that I loved as a kid. I grew up a big wolverines fan and when Jalen went pro, I remember I had his Denver Nuggets rookie year jersey
the Kobe commercial with Rose "81 🫒"🙏RIP Bean
Yeah that was crazy
I hope you ended with jalen looking like a robot on tv 😂😂😂
That is the best mk ultra position of all time 😂😂😂😂
😂
Ayoooooo🤣
That *was* a robot 100%.
I’m not sure what happened to the real Jalen, but I hope he’s alright.
I was born in Seattle in 1973, Sonics and Blazers fan. I actually had a liking for guards, who were good per-minute REBOUNDERS, and Jalen Rose usually had good rebounding numbers.
Thank you for doing Jalen Rose video 😊.
Man watching him and Reggie score 40 against the Sixers was special.
I was just thinking about you doing a video on Jalen. Your right he's very forgotten as a player
Great selection of players. Thanks
Ohhhh man I been waiting on this one!
Me too
Miss him on espn. #Whatupthou
Really enjoying your content - keep it up!
Yeah the videos are 🔥🔥🔥
Nice one, Bonzi Wells or Ilgauskas.
Hey man you’re videos are absolutely amazing can you please do luol deng next
Prime Jalen Rose was a beast, he was one of the best all around players in the league that could score, rebound, pass, and handle the ball for his team and play in any situation. I was so happy that Larry Bird was his HC when he came to Indiana because alot of people were calling him a bust before then. Once Bird helped develop his NBA game and get his confidence back he really took off. Really wished he could have played with a contender team after he got traded from Indiana but he still had a very nice NBA career for a guy that really was ahead of his time. In today;s NBA I think Rose would have been one of the best players in the league.
I was a former Detroit Public School League (PSL) player, #SHOUTOUTTOTHEMBOYS so proud of them dudes man, putting that pettiness behind them.
I make a strong argument that he should have came out of college earlier instead of his junior year. Prospects like Rose should have been developed a lot better. Every time he started to see his game grow the teams took the ball away from him. He’s one of my biggest what if’s.
Jalen Rose would be a Basketball Ball Hall of Famer in this current NBA era of play.......
My mom named my brother after this man 😂😂😂😂😂my dad was sick lol
#TogetherEvery1AchievesMore TEAM‼️
LOOK at his life he more than reached his full potential. Go Jalen
My favorite all time player.
Love your videos but why not just say the actual stats shown on the screen? Why round them arbitrarily?
Coaches taking rose off ball was dumb
It really was
Exactly
Oooo Voshon Leonard would be a good profile to do. I always liked him as a shooter. Thought he was pretty underrated as well.
Jalen got to be good as he could be at a NBA level, without great expectations.
Jalen with the bulls was ballin
Always remembered for 81 😂
Zydrunas Ilgauskas profile would be good
Thank you 🙂
Two things wrong in the very beginning. Weber was the most popular of the Fab 5. And Rose was not a point forward. He was the point guard.
I thought he was a point guard
@@baconeggcheesepodcast9390me too. Revisionist history is a trip.
Gratitude
I wish that NIL deals were available to players back then. You probably would have had these guys at Michigan for the full 4 years, a national championship AND not taking money from a booster. Also Steve Fisher was a great coach.
Welp since we on Fab 5..... Juwan Howard next please. Since he is the coach of Michigan now.
my favorite detroit basketball players r steve smith & jalen rose, rip eric montrose
You are player love your work
Will be at all home games cause we got season tickets but I hope to go to lsu game and maybe Missouri
Have 40 minutes till bed great way to spend it. I am sucker for fab five material
Yeah they were great
phoenix suns jalen Rose is my favorite. Go Suns
In "I Hate Christian Laettner," Jalen Rose showed that his hatred was towards GRANT HILL, and much less towards Laettner! I am a Japanese-American male, born in Seattle in 1973, and yes, that IS relevant.
Please do cuttino mobley.
Underrated
pacers in mid 90s were strong but that team missing something maybe 2 players center and playmaker
Larry Bird is the one that turned Rose into a small forward. Before Bird, Rose kept saying that he was a point guard.
Larry was known to say that he saw a lot of himself in Jalen.
So, without Bird, Jalen Rose wouldn't have found his true position.
Think they almost had Eric Montross from NC because his dad played at M think Howard at PF Montross C Weber SF PG Rose 2G Jackson or King
"Hold Me Back!"
-Jalen Rose
Do 1 of Boris Diaw and Vinnie Del Negro
Why no in game highlights
Crazy he never met his father
He should've been allowed to run the point guard position on an NBA team
lol rose didn’t want nothing to do with Ewing with all that backing up 😂
Please do Gerald Wallace
Juwan Howard is the next fab five you should do
Why did Toronto do that trade without mourning coming back from the nets? Just negotiate with another team..
I really thought Jalen Rose should have been an All-Star over Latrell Sprewell in 2000.
Ron Harper next…???
I'm confused how can a point guard be a point forward?
simple be taller than 6'6 and they won't slot you at guard cuz of your size but you'll run the offense like Bron
Dang! I didn't know he was that good
Mutombo left Denver because Denver didn't offer him a contract. It had nothing to do with Jalen Rose leaving Denver.
I still wear black socks and black socks only. And baggy hoopin shorts
Jackson looked 6'7 and if King was 6'5 then Howard was 6'6 and Rose looked 6'1 in that picture that was posted, cant tell what Web was sitting down
Laettner probably grew up the roughest over fab 5 lmao
No wonder he hated Kobe
Exactly lol
He was a dirty player.
Kobe had that 81 point against Jalen as a result of that intentional foot injury by Rose 😂😂😂
Ayoooooo🤣
