I use my skiff/kayak on Ontario, Erie, G bay, Simcoe and all the nice rivers to fish around GTA in a radius of 250km since 2010. If you want range on water with light batteries you need to use a Minnkota that has a digital maximizer (Max), the digital maximizer is as average 3-5 time more efficient than your motor you have there. On the handle you need to see percentages not digits. A digital trolling motor on the handle has: 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% speeds. Couple that with a light lithium battery and your range will grow average 5 folds. I hope to see you there on the water sometime. Tight lines and be safe.
Thanks for the advice James! I have upgraded to lithium batteries this year. Perhaps next year I’ll look into a motor upgrade. I might even be thinking Bixpy or Newport…
Great job, I have a 50 lbs thrust min koda dura max on my 12 ft sport pal Canoe & it motors along real good.
That’s what I’d love on my Bigwater! Just did a speed test today and it was a success!
