I installed the Tim Percy Univeral Steering systems on my fishing yak. It is an absolute game changer. Easy to install, comfortable and silent. Totally changed my game.
I'm very happy with the steering. I bought a second one to put a Bixpy K-1 on my Outback. Actually my wife claimed my Outback. I think she'll be happy with the steering too.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'm planning to make that cables interchangeable some how, so I can switch between the Bixpy and Torqeedo. Thank you. I really like this setup.
I noticed the looseness in the cables. That's probably for clearance so you can unhook your carabiners. But if you loosen your wing nuts and nudge your steering lever forward a little bit, it should tighten up.
Thank you for the suggestion. It works great as it is. I'll play with it more when I install this on my wife's Outback. I'll show the full install in that video.
Once you cut the cable for your setup, you can't move it unless you extend the cables. You could easily make an extension cable. I had leftover cable when I was done, but I don't recall how much I had left. I could have move it forward.
I’m looking to do this with my PA 12. I had the original Tim Percy steering kit for hobie but my screw snapped and ruined my steering crank which I’m having a hard time finding but I did just get a brand new PA 12 so I’d like to go this route for it and my older one when I repair it. I already bought the universal kit but still gotta get the yakgadget rail mount for it. Is it the 8” or the 12” one? Did you upload the full install video of this yet? (I didn’t see it but want to make sure I didn’t overlook it). I just subscribed to your channel and I appreciate the info!!! Tight lines brother!
This works really well for me. It's mounted on the 8" track mount. I'm work on that video again now. Something happened to the edit, so I had to start over again from scratch. I'll post a link the video here after I upload the video. Thank you for the support.
The maker of this said it works with the Torqueedo 1103, so I would think it should work with the NK300. He said that you have to slow down when turning.
Thanks Tommy. Appreciate you taking the time to do that. I believe I'm going to go with that on my nk300 and pa 14 set up instead of foot steering. Another question tho. Is it a significant improvement over just steering the motor from a fixed position using a bigger rudder .....rudder steering vs control steering with motor?
@@jasonstone8222 steering is way better than using the rudder. A friend of mine is getting the foot steering installed on his PA14. I'm hoping to try it when it's done. I personally like this steering. I'll make video showing off his foot steering.

If you just loosen your mount attached to the H-rail and slide forward a touch. It would tighten up that cable. Nice set-up!!

works for my native watercraft titan kayak thanks
Glad to help. Mine still holding up well after 2 years.
Thanks for all the info bro 👍
No problem. Glad to help.

Just subscribed, great content here, just what I was looking for as I am probably going to do the Newport Vessels NK300 with the Tim Percy. Thanks
Thank you. Glad to help. I appreciate your support. This steering works well for me.
Hey Tommy awesome video. When will you be doing the bixpy j2 video??
I have the K-1 now, so I will be doing a video on that very soon. It will be practically the same setup except the motor will be different.
Is the steering mount adjustable along your kayak and is there enough cable included to move it further from the motor?
Once you cut the cable for your setup, you can't move it unless you extend the cables. You could easily make an extension cable. I had leftover cable when I was done, but I don't recall how much I had left. I could have move it forward.
Does this kit come with all the cables
Yes.

When you lift or raise your trolling motor out does that stop it from being able to lift the trolling motor out of the water?
No it does not prevent me from lifting the trolling motor.
Where did you get the aircraft cable?
The cable comes with the steering kit, but you can buy more off of Amazon. Here's a link to the cable amzn.to/3OxUoMH.
Will this work with the newport vessels nk300?
The maker of this said it works with the Torqueedo 1103, so I would think it should work with the NK300. He said that you have to slow down when turning.
I just checked the website and there is an option for the NK300.

@@jasonstone8222 Did you end up getting this for you NK300? I just got one and will be installing it soon. I'm just curious if it worked out for you?
Wonder if this would work with a gas setup
It should work, but you have to slow down to turn at high speeds. It's hard to turn when I go over 5 MPH.
Let’s gooooo
