Very nice , the rest of the automaker’s should take a lesson on how to do a window regulator. Thanks for not cutting out your mistake, and making it a real learning video.

I commend you for trying, and ultimately accomplishing the task at hand. I do that type of work for a living, and every job has its challenges. I’m curious as to how long it actually took you to do it. I average 10 minutes per regulator or door glass. One tip, most regulators or motors wear out because of the drag between the glass and window channel felt. With electric motors, one doesn’t usually notice until it’s too late. Silicone spray with a straw sprayed into the tracks in the door will help the longevity immensely. I recommend once a month or so. Believe it or not, the least used windows often wear out first. The summer heat makes the rubber bond to the glass when it’s not often used. If you have an old style manual crank window that’s difficult to roll up and down, try the silicone spray. You’d be surprised how easily they glide. Just remember to spray in the track with the window rolled down so as not to make a mess. Good job!

I was going to add. I know a guy who is and was at the time, who left a shop rag in the intake manifold. Fired the car up, it ran a little funny, spit little burnt pieces out the exhaust. Ended up removing the carb, and found the remainder of the rag. Then he removed the heads and leak checked the valves.

Just installed one just like it. Had a few extra parts at the end but it's in! The kit wasn't exactly like what came out but close enough as it fit. That's the reason for the extra parts I hope. Thank you for the video!! I don't think I would have tried it without it.

As always another fine video from Flying Sparks Garage. What I truly love about your videos is like you said "we include the mistakes"

I am 79 years old and have been an automobile mechanic since about 1958 or so. I would hate to try and explain to you how many times I have had to stop and backtrack due to situations like you had with the backwards regulator. I had to learn the hard way before the internet. Now whenever I have to tackle a new job the first thing I do is jump on youtube. Yup....modern is better than old school. Keep up the great videos. Thank you!

Emily, all is well that ends well. Not that it has ever happened to me personally, but I've heard of people putting in parts backwards (ha!). Just an FYI for others, I just bought a plastic pry set from the H.F. for $4. I considered growing my nails long and beautiful like Emily's but that didn't seem to work out. Have a electric lock on my passenger side door that needs looking at so this video may motivate me some to tackle that task. Merry Christmas. Thanks for Sharing!

It's easy to remove Loctite from bolts with a wire wheel but for small bolts and screws you can remove Loctite by soaking them in paint remover for a few minutes.

I have the same problem with my 04 mustang convertible, my driver side window stopped working, I thought it was the motor when my dad helped me figure out the problem by giving the motor a love tap, and it worked again, for a day till it stopped working again. That’s not the end, the other windows stopped working as well except the passenger window, I doubt it’s an electrical issue, maybe, or maybe it’s the master switch that burned most of the switches except the front passenger side window, hopefully it’s that

*You've encountered the same thing i have issue with how to videos on you tube. 9 times out of 10 they gloss over the entire process and when you have spent days finding the guy that shows you how everything actually works they are usually super boring and explain too much or they go off on tangents and the video is 30-50 minutes long. First thing i noticed is the gear isn't lined up with the hole the motor is supposed to fit into it. Oddly it looked like it was right because of the bow of the window. Interesting that you own it like that :o) OH so the whole thing wasn't wrong then you just didn't flip the gear around properly. That's TOTALLY different than "i just screwed up" I was actually kinda hoping for more on the MG this time but ah well*
