One of my top 10 favourite songs and yes I’m here in 2020! This song represents everything good and pure about the 80’s and makes me incredibly nostalgic....God, what I wouldn’t do to go back in time!!!! xx
I love this album and so many of the songs on it. It's really a hidden treasure, so quirky and playful but also kind of dark and it rocks in its own way. And the melodies are fantastic. And I like the videos too, cheesy as they are... they're so trippy, they take you to another place.
i think this is their best song. they should be given the order of canada. they were canada's inxs, roxette, and duran duran and depeche mode all in one. that kid is mitsou!
I love MWH and bet this video was so much fun to film, I love how it looks like it is out a fairytale. I miss the old sets, and no CGI - unforgettable!
Genius. I'm more into darkwave postpunk industrial etc, and dislike almost anything 'upbeat' but this is an exception which breaks the rule. Men without hats. wow.
Cool. I appreciate it more and 'Pop Goes the World' now knowing it's story. I think it's trilogy. What's the actress' name who played Jenny? Thanks, stay safe. God bless, Rev. 21:4
@@SeverityOne I don't think that's her, She's in Safety Dance, but I think thats it. I'm not sure if its the same Jenny in this and the PGTW video. The Jenny on the Moonbeam single doesn't look like the PGTW Jenny LP/single either.
Cyberhat, You don't know how long I had been waiting for someone to put a video of this song here!!! Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's awesome music like this which makes me call myself a Retro Canuck Junkie.
I agree. Men without Hat's album has a heck of alot of good songs. Not just a hit and filler. Top's still in my list of albums. It's one of the CD's that i've iTune'd (like with DCD, REM, etc.).
I never noticed it until I saw this video the other night that Ivan Doroschuk and I had the same look going on with the pirate shirt, leather pants, and hair back then. I miss the 80s and 90s!
+Resty Mervin Ponio: Is that a Rickenbacher bass she's playing? Paul McCartney, and Lenny Kilmister of Mötörhead, played different models, but they were both Rickenbachers.
Thats not her, I Googled her and it said she toured with the band, that girl is to young to be playing in the band. I think shes just an actor they used for the videos.
@dunbar9finger it seems unforgivably unfair they were deemed so: my own personal list of Single-worthy favorites from MWH is in the twenties. So many under-appreciated classics. I think they were absolutely definitive as capturing what might be loosely termed as the 'Spirit of the Eighties', in look, feel politics and composition. They were (and are) sheer genius.
Ivan Doroschuk kept his new companions, Elvis, the Guitar Girl both from "Pop Goes the World", and the Snowman from "Where Do the Boys Go?". Sadly, the Jester and the Girl from "Safety Dance" aren't around.
"Sadly, the Jester and the Girl from "Safety Dance" aren't around." Ya they hooked up and now have a little caravan somewhere in the UK with a bumper sticker on the door that says "If the Caravan's a'Rockin -Dont bother Knockin"
@Smijit1234 Actually you're right. I remember seeing these guys backstage in the 80's, where the singer was smoking a joint. My family actually has it on VHS as my brother was going around video taping everyone with a huge video cameras of the time. Funny thing is the singer actually offered my brother a drag while he was being video taped. lol I should go and find the video.. again. We used to laugh about it all the time.
Ultracool song, but of course it makes a heck of a lot more sense when you hear it with the entire album, as it was a concept album about a fictional band dealing with the sudden rise and collapse of fame. As one mag put it: cartoonish yet dark.
@darklordojeda Yeah, on Vinyl Rhythm of Youth and Folk of the 80s aren't too rare or costly, but on CD they can be VERY expensive; my copy of folk of the 80s part III was $65, and the only other one I could find was $250 buy it now on ebay! Man, why is it so hard to get Men Without Hats albums on CDs nowadays!?
@wildboy789789 Good day The snowman is a character known as "Bonnehomme" The mascot of Winterfest. They included him firstly for fun,..secondly to "remind us" that the band is from Quebec! It's a co-incidence to the global warming situation. I have most of MWH albums..& still love to hear them on radio! MWH is known as a two-hit wonder (Safety dance and Pop goes the World) but that's really unfair because the other songs they did were even better. I this is my second favorite (the best one is Jenny Wore Black).
One of the world's most underrated pop bands, with lots of deeper meaning (symbolic and mystical) to their songs and videos...
Thank youuuuu !! Living in China is so intelligent
I like when you say mystical. Its like being put under a spell ( a good spell) and once you hear Ivans voice you are forever changed..
I could not agree more. The female singer has a beautiful tone. Would like to have heard more of her.

I never heard this song back when it was made but it is now my favorite song.
@@darynflentje better late than never! 😉
MenWIthoutHats are quite simply wonderful. I cherish all of their albums, listen to them back-to-back all the time.
I love these guys. I have this on tape but have not thought of this song in decades. I feel old and a little teary.
Super muza😃😃😃
Honestly, one of the greatest albums of all time... ❤❤❤
I just rediscovered this song and forgot how much I loved it!
I love this album and so many of the songs on it. It's really a hidden treasure, so quirky and playful but also kind of dark and it rocks in its own way. And the melodies are fantastic. And I like the videos too, cheesy as they are... they're so trippy, they take you to another place.
The first album I ever owned. I love this record so much.
Ultra ssimple video, but accompanied by an AWESOME SONG!!! This band has something special, their songs are something else.

One of the most underrated bands ever, they were amazing!
Estos temas son clasicos de los 80s la epoca dorada de la buena musica pop, nunca mas en el futuro habran grupos asi de buenos
I am just discovering them and this is just delightful.
men without hats cool songs they have 1980🤪😇🤩🥸😎🤠💙💙
Saw Men Without Hats 1988 Grad Night at Disney Land, California
I miss 80’s synth pop. Awesome time to grow up as a kid.
Great song from a phenomenal album. Probably one of the best albums of the 80s.
For anyone who likes this, get the album that it came from, "Pop Goes The World". A true unappreciated classic.
pop goes the world is an amazing song with such a bubbly tune! Ivan is awesome
Bought it in '87. So good.
Still have my CD from 1987
Its a gem.
@@adambillson7494 The actual song "pop goes the world" is rubbish. An examples of their good songs are "Where do the boys go" and "I like".
I love this song!
I love Ivan's flaily dances
Lenny Pinkas is known for Pop Goes the World (1987) and Moonbeam (1987), Jenny
Wow, thanks! Been trying to find her name for years?
Much Love!! BIG part of my life.
First heard this at work (1986?). Loved it then, loved it ever since.
On my top whatever list of all times,
But the song and it's accompanying album released in 1987.
Love this cd Pop goes the world. I have to dance to every song. Love to hear the all the songs.
RIP Phil Ashley (keyboards).
Merci beaucoup Ivan pour cette chanson tu fait partie des plus grand :)

Still great in 2022. 😃
And great in 2024❤🇨🇦
I vote we bring the 80s back...
As long as we can still keep today's tech too.
Wow. They don't need to do a "literal music video" for this one ...
One of my favorite albums.
That baby can sure play a mean keyboard.
I love this song.
Saw them live in concert twice. First concert supporting this album and second time supporting the Sideways LP.
AWESOme!I use to use this tape to help me sleep at night when I was little. It gave great dreams.
So much for one hit wonders with "Safety Dance"... the follow up album "Pop Goes the World" is relentless song after song of mind blowing catchiness
Larga vida a este grupo tan maravilloso.
Genius. I'm more into darkwave postpunk industrial etc, and dislike almost anything 'upbeat' but this is an exception which breaks the rule. Men without hats. wow.
This is ostensibly upbeat, but that perception radically changes once you listen to Ivan explaining what this whole album is about...
WOW IT'S LIKE THE SOUND OF YOUTH!
Jenny is Ivan's feminine side. you need to listen to Pop Goes the World full album, it's a great one !
Cool. I appreciate it more and 'Pop Goes the World' now knowing it's story. I think it's trilogy.
What's the actress' name who played Jenny?

Ivan is incredibile handsome and cute here!
the entire pop goes the world and rhythm of youth and folk of the 80's albums are all awesome. hard to find tho.
I love that he's still rockin' the poofy shirt in space,
@upleftdown I was wondering that too, though she certainly isn't PLAYING it. At least she's holding it left-handed.
They have another awesome song called Can You Walk on Water.
great song! thanks for share
Their aesthetic is so refreshingly un-ironic that I can't help but love this, even if the sets look like a school play. :-)
Wow. Jenny is gorgeous.
Wow, Jenny is like 12 years old in this video.
yeah! very creative video & song :DD
Great song.
Lnf: this video was actually recorded on the moon.
Little known fact, known starts with a "K" :) But I believe they thought they were on the moon during filming LOL
Known Fact: Neil Armstrong and Co knew how to spell known.

BOOZE CRUZIN...THANKFULLY I WASNT DRIVING...VERY NICE GAL...
Same cute girl from 'Pop Goes the World':-) bobbing with the guitar, What's her name?
God bless, Rev. 21:4
I always wondered who the girl was. She's beautiful!
The girl on this video is Marika Tjelios on bass. She was first featured on the music video, Pop goes the world.
I think shes just an actor they used for the videos.
umm hmmm. . . They could have focused a bit more on that Sweetheart on the Moon. Play that Bass, Baby! I mean, Woman!
Her name is Louise Court.

This one and Pop Goes the World, Are there more videos with Jenny?
i love this song! and man that female guitarist was hot.. as a sun and shined... like a M0:00NBEAM?
Pretty girl, but she does look young.
sheesh! there's a baby stuffed in a capsule playing keyboard and a flying elvis! there's so much more of this to love, ya know!
❤❤❤❤❤
bonus points for this video being culled from a vhs dub of Much Music spolight!
They are fun! 🤪😃😃😂🥳
She's really rockin' that bass
Who's the cutie on the moon?
Ivan Doroschuk kept his new companions, Elvis, the Guitar Girl both from "Pop Goes the World", and the Snowman from "Where Do the Boys Go?". Sadly, the Jester and the Girl from "Safety Dance" aren't around.
The snowman is Bon homme. :)
Elvis here is his brother. who is a member of the band.

This song and Timmy the Tooth share a room in my brain 🦷🪥🚫🎩👒🧢
I think an elaborate set would defy the mood of the song, so childishly simplistic and sweet.
Montreal love you ivan t.y bro
I cant figure out why this tune doesnt figure on Danish Spotify - yer cant find it in there and its their best tune - in my homble opinion.
This a funny idea to make a family video 😂 the wite in the moon dad in the star and baby on the piano 😍 sounds like a challenge to get
catchy tune
This is a perfect pop song. I'm working on a comprehensive short story which delves into each atom of this theory I put forth into humanity
